Does anyone try to collect complete sets of a particular Trading Card Game or sport?

I collect Pokemon cards, and while I do not try to collect complete sets of every new set that is released (as many modern sets contain over 200 cards and it simply be too tedious to acquire them all), I try to complete sets that have fewer cards, or that I particularly like. So far, I have managed to complete the following sets:

-Base Set
-Jungle
-Fossil
-Southern Islands
-Evolutions
-Shining Legends
-Detective Pikachu
-Celebrations

I am currently working on Expedition and Pokemon GO. I should have Pokemon GO completed soon, as I only need 18 more cards, and none of them will cost more than $10. I have been working on Expedition for a few years, and it may take a few more years to complete. It's a gradual process, as it is a set that is both expensive and rare (fewer cards were printed than most other sets). I only have 21 cards left to acquire (out of 165 total), and I do already have some of the most expensive cards in the set (Charizard holo, Mew holo, Mewtwo holo), but there are still some heavy hitters that I need to get my hands on (Blastoise holo, Dragonite holo, Charizard non-holo #39, Raichu holo, etc.).

The only set that I ever completed was the Celebrations one. Because of space issues I can't collect common and uncommon cards so I try to sell them or give them away within a few weeks of getting them. I think Celebrations is cool and since it's a much smaller set it's easier to hold onto. I think I might go after the Pokemon Go set as well.

I used to collect Pokémon card, but I've found it a waste of money because all of your old cards now seem useless, I haven't got Pokémon cards 1-2 years now.

I have 1,000s of Pokémon cards though, I've probably spent 100$ on Pokémon Cards, but other than that, I've not got any other.
