For the PS5, it is more of a meh to me considering it still has a massive scalper issue compared to XBOX Series X. Microsoft has done something about the issue, and scalpers are not as vicious about XBOX. Series S is I don't know to me, but if you want an XBOX, that is going to be your best bet since they don't generally target Series S. For Nintendo Switch, it is sort of a pass for me considering I do not consider myself huge on newer Nintendo titles after Wii was discontinued.

RjGunner111 : I don't really know about the Xbox Series S/X since I don't have one but I think that it's more like a Pro Xbox One because of the name, but I do know that you can use it like a pc since it has Microsoft Edge which is a chromium web browser so it can use most of websites stuff. And it can boost old Xbox games too and I thought that was neat.

TurtlePing : well, in my opinion from what you said... I think for browsing, I would just browse the Internet on my computer since it makes more sense. But it is possible to do it on consoles too. For example, I remember back in the Wii era, I used to go on YouTube there, and also browser (IIRC). One problem is, between computers and consoles, computers you can do more on, both gaming and anything else. Consoles, I had trouble sticking with since only gaming is possible on them. Otherwise I got no objection with consoles.

I haven't played a PS5 or Xbox Series console but my thing with this generation is every generation prior to this in my opinion was an obvious step up graphicly now don't get me wrong I don't really care about graphics that much but it was always something I enjoyed being impressed by when a new console came out but I've really struggled based on videos at least seeing the major update graphicly which I find kinda disappointing but at the same I've wondered for years how much further graphics could be pushed without making games take forever to be made. As for the Nintendo Switch I believe it's an amazing console with amazing games with the lineup getting even better now having my favorite game of all time in it's library Persona 5 Royal. I know graphicly it's not that impressive usually but I stated earlier I don't really care about graphics that much I'll be really curious to see if at the end of the switch's life cycle if I'll have it overtake the PS2 as my favorite console.

SonicOlmstead : Interesting point you made about graphics... How I see it when newer consoles get released, for games that already exist, or are going to be a spin-off, (or in some cases) the game would one up a version from the predecessor game series, I imagine they would port existing graphics from the previous-gen code to the new code. I do not know exactly how the improvements are done if any, but it is something interesting to think about. I am not that big of a fan of Nintendo Switch, despite I heard they came out with an OLED version, I have no idea why but it's the way it is.

Literally everything has a scalper issue. The Animal Crossing Switch console was selling for close to $1,000 for a while. The new Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Limited Edition sold out within minutes twice in the past month only to be on eBay for 3x. The PS5 isn't as big as it used to because everybody knows that there's a restock every month and not to buy from Scalpers.

SonicOlmstead : The focus on new consoles this time around seems to be more towards the performance than the graphics. Seeing some games like Spiderman have a 2 second load screen instead of 10-15 seconds every few minutes is a huge upgrade.

It’s been difficult to get a series x. I mean it’s easier now with Xbox selling refurbished and new consoles but there’s a catch. I’ve been checking restock sites to know whenever a store has a restock of the Xbox… since I’ve been trying to buy it early enough for a Christmas gift and just get it over with. With the PS5 I wouldn’t bother since not really a console I’ll pay these days. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great looking console but I’m so used to Xbox now these days…. Plus whoever buys them from scalpers… disappointed in you guys

At the moment, the Xbox Series X is the most affordable way to play new games smoothly and in full 4K. I have a PS4 Pro and used to have an Xbox One X, and while I liked the exclusive titles on the PS4 far more, I would always heavily prefer playing anything multiplatform on the One X.

Now that I have an okay gaming PC and Xbox Game Pass, I don't really need to buy Xbox games, unless I wanted to play something on the scale of Flight Simulator, since I only have a 1660ti and an older generation Ryzen 7. That means if I wanted to play the game with functioning 4K60fps, I'd have to either spend thousands on a new graphics card, or spend $500 on an Xbox Series X. I've considered it at times, as my PS4 has been crashing quite a bit lately and it may be beyond simply new thermal paste. I'll need a new system for lazy content on my TV and online games that are quick to load up eventually. The main thing that's holding me back is Sony's catalogue, which is on a console that's nearly 200 dollars more expensive and will not be coming to PC. Problem is, their online service is much more expensive for similar functionality without any of their big releases.

Now this isn't Sony's fault. Microsoft is playing a very strategic long game. There's a casino downtown that made their money from being a casino, but now they have a restaurant in the casino, where they sell wings way below cost, almost the price of a coffee for a pound. This is to undercut their competition and get more people into the casino. Microsoft made their money from selling computers, they buy up all of these studios with their computer money and use it to offer a monthly service that severely undercut the competition in terms of value. This is as anti-competition it gets, and standard practice for companies these days such as Amazon. Sony doesn't have the financial capacity to offer such a service with all of their day one releases across several platforms. They rely on hardware to sell their software. They don't have the ability to do the same thing. This is not to say Sony is much better, but it's definitely more one sided than the fickle "console war" discussions would let on.

Don't get me wrong, I want Phil Spencer to buy Activision, uphold those promises, and make a damn Guitar Hero game. It's just a slimy situation overall and the purchase, while their intellectual property would be used comparatively more (not exceedingly more, look at their output the last 10 years vs what's been released) it would give Microsoft even more power over the industry with Game Pass, no matter what kind of deal they strike with their competitors.
