The school shut down so the kids are home all day. All the stores have empty shelves, but no real panic in town, and most places are closed. We are just sitting at home.

...But most interesting to you is maybe that it brought me back to this site, and this is my first post in a couple years i think.

Not a good situation but I'm back to work now and this is almost behind us! Just need more people vaccinated.

It's not really changed anything for me being a hermit and all.

The only annoying part is not being able to really get any food supplies in or such. oh and all the inherent panicking thats darn annoying too.

The only thing that has affected me is that I will no longer commute to my college. Taking the subway to college, and vice versa is one of the best parts of the day due to interest in mass transit. However, given the risks of COVID-19, colleges are closed, so I no longer need to commute to college for months.

In addition, our school has transitioned from in-person learning to distance learning. While it takes away time to explore and be outdoors, I found that it is easing to me since I have been used to staying at home at Fridays and the weekends.

I can't go out much of anywhere, and I can't spend as much time at most of those places as I tend to prefer spending. Can barely interact with anyone in person (not that I did much of that to begin with). Have to "attend" service at my church at home on my computer, instead of actually going to the building. And there's even less chance I'll be able to get whatever items I want/need from whatever grocery store I might go to/order from

Davideo7 : there are many changes that have been made down where I live due to the corona virus schools, libraries, swimming pools and all gyms are closed along with all churches which means that people like myself who normally go to church on sundays now have to watch the sunday mass on the internet I work at wal mart and yesterday they put a note up at all entrances telling customers about the new store hours that take affect starting monday they will still open at 7:00am but will close at 8:00pm monday to saturday instead of staying open until 11:00 in order to give the staff more time to stock the shelves also the first hour 7:00am until 8:00am will be reserved only for seniors and those with disabilities to shop and all other shoppers will be able to shop starting at 8:00 but they will still be open 9:00 to 6:00 on sundays as for the restaurants all are open for take out or drive thru only with the exception of the macdonalds at wal mart which has closed completely instead they now have a note relocating customers to a second location a few blocks away that is not in a store and all transit buses will be running on a sunday schedule seven days a week starting on monday which means that on some routes you might have to wait about an hour before your bus comes but despite all the changes at least we have been lucky so far there are only 19 reported cases of corona virus all except for one are travel related but only one person so far has been hospitalized and there have been no deaths

Update:

Manitoba (my province) has cancelled school, college, daycare for the next 2 weeks after spring break.
MB Has also now declared a state of emergency, so all gyms, churches, etc are closed. Restaurants are doing take-out/delivery only.

Also meanwhile in Canada, apparently "respiratory virus" equates to "stock up on toilet paper". how it suddenly became a stomach flu, is news to me.

Well, I just lost my job. My earlier fears of survival were true but didn't expect it to be so quick. At least my government will pay me until it's over with.

Update: New York has been on lockdown mode since Sunday night. I got a letter from both of my jobs saying that I'm essential personnel so I'm allowed to work and travel but that's about all I can do.

There's a curfew for non-essential workers which is 8PM, so people can't even go out for food after 8, plus all the stores that I go to a lot are now closed 24/7.

The biggest challenge for me was Gamestop because I have thousands of dollars in pre orders and had to cancel all of them so I can use the money to buy digital copies when they come out.

It hasn't been all bad though because all buses in the city are free now, but only to people going to and from work.

Well, it just got more real for me - I also lost my job due to the outbreak. Apparently the company I work for is expecting a 50% decrease in business activity over the next 6-18 months so they let go a lot of people and reduced pay for a lot of others.

Short term this isn't the end of the world. I'll get unemployment benefits and I'm already stuck at home anyway so that won't change. Long term will be trickier as I don't know when things will pick up and I'll be able to get back to work.

I'm hoping this all blows over soon and the world can get back to normal but there is something in the back of my brain that thinks it won't be that simple.

The lack of business at work has finally forced management's hand. They don't want to furlough us and make us struggle financially, but they can no longer risk the well being of every staff member at once, given the low work-load.

So starting next week, we're doing rotating schedules. Three groups, each one takes a week at a time working from home, studying for exams, or answering in-baskets.

Not looking forward to it.

Today I got a notification from my student loan provider that some kind of act was passed to help students during the virus who can't work, so that helps me a lot.

Until the end of September I don't have to make any loan payments for my old loans and the interest rate is 0%

On the negative side, lots of people have been getting their stimulus checks today but I have not.

Small update. People are getting quite weird and hostile with this quarantine and with a 10 pm curfew things are just getting worse. We are forced to wear masks now whenever we go out and honestly I wish I can go back to work

I moved back home early from my college dorm. I left some of my things there, so I have to wait a while before I can get them back. (My college isn't very close.)

It's been weird to have my college classes online and not see my friends at all. Thankfully, I have gotten better in my relationships with others and God this year, and it has still gotten better now that I'm at home all the time.

The virus has started affecting us here in NYC again over the last week and a half.

The mayor ordered a couple places to start closing down again based on proximity to places where there's a lot of cases. There's red areas that get full shutdowns and the areas around them are orange and yellow. The place that I work is in the yellow area so if anything goes wrong there's a chance that the building could close down.

I wish I was somewhere that took this seriously. Oh, we shut down back in March while people were panicking. Now the numbers are well over ten times what they were while we were in lockdown and we aren't even allowed to order someone to leave when he refuses a mask and wants to stand around telling us how he knows he's sick but it can't be covid because covid is a hoax and blahblahblah they said George Floyd died of covid blahblahblah any and all deaths are called that because someone said that money magically appears for any doctor that slaps Cause of Death: Covid on a patient chart.

I'm not worried about it but I've been really careful making sure to keep social distance, washing my hands and wearing a mask every time I go out with my family, my brother and family members already have talked to me about this virus, so I've been keeping myself safe and I've been taking good care of my mother, one time she called me the best nurse.

Noyb42 : Not to mention how there still hasn't been another stimulus when we need it worse now than what we needed it back in April. I don't think the economy has improved any! Other countries care about their people. All we do in America is fight with each other and try to overturn a fair election! WHY!?

luigi25 : Because we have a corrupt news sector that cares more about ratings than reality and a two-party system that has become master of demonizing what the other side wants to avoid needing to make progress or care about us. The leader of the senate has established that he cares about corporations more than human lives but almost half the country is too busy watching certain news networks that are applauding the circus clown in the center ring.

If you want to reduce the American division then striking at the top isn't nearly as effective as attacking the thugs at Sinclair Broadcast Group who feed so many rural areas the same lines as Fox News to create a false consensus. Telling the politicians that we want to re-establish serious standards for news is the best way to stop this nonsense and it's something they are far less likely to subvert or fight against than what people propose to limit the politicians' own powers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
