I have many favorites; Sonic Mania for being such a well-polished masterpiece of everything that made Sonic so good to begin with, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 3D for enhancing an already-legendary game so that you only lose half your rings when you get hit instead of all (I hate it that you lose all your rings!), and Shadow the Hedgehog for its perfect pace of exciting combat, high speed, and some of the most precise and well-polished control in any game ever.

Personally, though, I strongly dislike Sonic Colors! I've played it when I was around 14 and I just slogged through the game and wasn't having any true fun with it at all. The level design is severely terrible, I hate having to unlock Wisps and backtrack to get stuff, and Orbot and Cubot are pointless and annoying and make the cutscenes atrocious. On the other hand, Sonic's voice is awesome, though some of his lines could've been better.

I would say it’s a spin off but it counts right?

Mean bean machine is a great favorite of mine even though it’s just puyo puyo with dr robotnik. I always get fascinated by puzzle games and enjoy a little challenge. I’ve been addicted to that game for so long even today I still play it whenever I have a craving

Right now, my favorite Sonic game is Sonic Generations.

There will always be a soft spot in my heart for the first three on the Genesis, but when looking at the games as a whole, and their quality on every level, Generations is the gold standard in what a Sonic game is. Honorable mention to Sonic Mania.

About a year and a half ago, I said Adventure 2, and I think I could still defend that answer, but my opinion of it has soured in the past year or so, compared to other modern offerings. Turns out, Generations aged really well, whereas Adventure 2 is starting to show its age.

My favorite is Sonic Mania. I got the collectors edition for PS4 and I really liked it. Then just this week it went on sale for the Switch and I grabbed it too.

I'm no longer a fan of the older games really.

Most of the 2D ones are pretty good I'd say. When I first read the thread title, my immediate thought was Sonic Rush but I'm not 100% positive - Mania and Sonic 3 are also pretty damn good. I also do enjoy Sonic & Knuckles. Between them it's a pretty hard pick, but I'll probably stick to my gut and say Sonic Rush was my favorite.

my favorite sonic games is sonic 4, sonic boom, sonic spinball, sonic 2, sonic generations( i used had a code book on it), sonic forces is new game, and mario and sonic games all of them.

Mine has changed a lot, as I believe my favorite would have to be Sonic 3, now I know that's sort of a popular choice, and may be seen as a classic elitist (Even though I'm not, Unleashed is lit). Just has everything I want in a Sonic game, and is very long to boot if you combine Sonic 3 with Sonic and Knuckles.

Also it's the only game with special stages I don't feel like I have to memorize anything, even if it is a factor, it's not a requirement.
