I never was bullied when i went to school. sadly i was the one that was doing the bullying in school i regret it now that i'm older. but i have some friends that get bullied on the internet sometimes. they say it dont bother them but i can tell it kinda does.

Yeah, I am a young person, and in my experience there is a lot of bullying. I would say adults only see literally only 20 percent of what goes on. I haven't had any real incident with me where there is cyber bullying. But it is still a very big problem.

Cyber-bullying or bullying is not a problem for me. No one has ever bullied me so....

Here is what recently happened:

Phoebe was a 15 year-old teen girl who was so viciously harassed by a group of her high school classmates at South Hadley High School in Northampton, Massachusetts that she hanged herself on January 14. The harassment had been going on since September, and took place at school and online. The faculty and many students at the school were witnesses and aware that Phoebe was being bullied. Unfortunately, there was nothing effectively done to stop it.

This was a toned down version, because she was beaten brutally everyday at her school, on all the group pictures that were put up on the wall, kids always scribbled on her picture, she was called a whore by passing by cars, and much more... I don't understand how the faculty did not stop the bullying... School for her was like hell, so she commited suicide.

It's these types of incidents that are the problem. Most kids don't get bullied enough to go to this extreme. And most kids have friends or other things that keep their self-esteem up high enough to ignore these things.

I wonder what some of the kids who bullied her are thinking. It's really too bad there isn't so sort of way to punish those kids that bullied her. Hopefully they realize that they contributed to this girls suicide. I hope that idea is repeated to the kids at that school over and over. More could have been done to prevent this from happening. Most of the time an intervention isn't required... but for the sake of not having another incident like this teachers need to be trained better to handle it.

Actually all seven of them that bullied her were charged with felonies... I don't know anything past that though...

back in the day we used to beat up the bully. but i cant lie i used to bully this one fruity kid(hes fully gay now)he snitched on me back in 6th grade, i dont even remember for what. then he snitched on me again in middle school for cutting the field in p.e.. I regret never smacking that fool.

What is really sad is when you have the kids like those at columbine who were bullied so bad they attempted to take other peoples lives. I am gonna be honest. I have thought about that kind of stuff before, but I didn't come close to doing it.

I think a lot of people have the thought... either of killing the bully or killing yourself... but the vast majority of people either have a stable home life or solid friends to back them up so that time at school isn't as bad.

It's really dependent on where you live and the people in your year. My year and around here is really good, there isn't too much bullying going on, and any harshness is usually mutual and joking, or it's from idiots too thick to understand what they're saying or being called.

There is a lot of cyber bullying that I hear of though, especially in some of the younger grades at my school. The police have been called in a few incidents, even. Teenage girls can be so catty and cruel, it's unbelievable. I know you have a daughter geeo, and I hope she can manage to avoid the whole cliques and cat fights thing.

i really couldnt care less about what people think about me so it doesnt effect me much but i hate to see people get bullied it pisses me off. it really just depends on the person. if you have good freins who you know are joking it can be fun insulting each other but some thing like taking lunch money is wrong.

First I will like to say this. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can only kill me.

I was bullied for the majority of my childhood. From elementary through middles school people thought I was gay. I have no reason why they thought I was gay. In seventh and eighth grade I think had to be the worst. In seventh grade a bunch of students about three of them jumped me and beat me up it was horrible to say at the least. Eighth grade I was called a girl though I did nothing to make it seem like I was a girl. In nineth grade I was called dirty I don't know why just called dirty. After that year it all just stopped I don't know why it just was.

one good peice of advice i would give anyone is : if you dont learn to laugh at your self youll never be happy. as for people getting jumped that shouldnt happen and the only way to really avoid it is to stay quite (which i wouldnt advise) or take risks (which is generally what i do) (not the smartest choice but i didnt say i was smart lol) but really just hang out with the right people and be honest and things will generally go ok. what goes around comes around lol. (of course some people are just jerks)

I think this is the problem with our technologically advanced society. Before cell phones and the internet, the most anonymous you could get with bullying was throwing notes in windows or slipping them in notebooks or something. Now, with the anonymity provided by technology, anyone and anything can send anonymous messages to anyone around the world, and its nearly impossible to trace without FBI equipment or something. The worse thing about this though, is when people die because of this. There are so many stories, and sadly, most/all of them are true. Stupid words can end in foolish mistakes, especially if you have the confidence boost from the knowledge that no one knows who you are.
Of course, there's more than cyber bullying- there's actual bullying, physical or verbal. Although I have a tendency to snap at idiots who try to insult me, some of my friends don't. I watched as one of my friends became anorexic and depressed because of another girl in our grade, and I couldn't do anything about it without the fear of making my friends mad at me. I was lucky, and the girl responsible got expelled from our school (for academic reasons, although I wish she had been expelled for what she did), and I got my friend back. As a final note- if you see this. don't stand down. Don't stop, and actually do something. Its better to not be friends with someone for a year than to lose them forever.

I was bullied some in elementary/middle school. The kids responsible for it ended up going away to high school and having to go to another school. I was picked on some other than that, but nothing much after that. The picking really stopped at eleventh grade and I had a fine, if lonely senior year.
I've never really has good self-esteem and the bullying really affected me.
Now I don't really have any big problems with it, but it sickens me to watch kids bully as I know the long-term psychological damage it can cause.
I have real problems trusting people because I'm never sure if a person won't turn around and hurt me emotionally.

Bobbynibbles : I don't think you're the only one with that fear. I'm very reclusive from people in general. Online a little less because it's not so personal... but I tend to avoid getting close to too many people. I don't let myself get too invested in most things because I tend to find that if I do I'll most likely get let down and the let down is worse in my mind than not being totally invested in something that goes well. If that made sense.

I've been bullied and it has never affected. I just got the hell over it, I just look to the future. Bully them back. Yeah you might get hit but get over it, just bring a bat in and take care of the problem.

I've never had any cyber-bullying problems, and no one at school bullies me because of my personality, I guess, but I see others get bullied a lot, whether it be over the Internet or at my school and others. Some were getting bullied every day at my middle school.

I get teased on the internet often by "lagist" (a name I come up with for people who will bully/insult people with high ping or people who lags). One time I got bullied for my name.

I seem to be a good target for some very odd reason.

I also don't trust people sometimes, but for me, all the serious i have, ARE WITH MYSELF > : D So that means I don't relay too much about the trust of others.

Also, My most feared bully is... myself, I hate myself at times, Didowe seems to be affecting my life, I could have done something real good in my life, but Didowe destroyed it.

I like joke-fully teasing and provoke people though, but I will never do it very often that I "bully" the person, I like joke-fully copying the person's cries or speech.

I've been bullied a couple of a times back in middle school due to religion purposes, however using the internet to my advantage is always great considering how you can screw bullies big time with it (dropping their doxes) being bullied

But that's not my point, I stopped caring about being nice to people in real life because they'll just shrug and act as if they're more popular than you (jocks in my school did this A LOT) and they'll always backstab you and leave you but my breaking point was that you don't need talent to become famous on the internet. You can be a douche to people that do creative criticism and yet make thousands and millions of it.
