Anything run by the government is not free because it is paid for with tax dollars. At best, it's redistributes wealth. At worst, it's a power grab without regards to the quality or efficiency of the system. Some redistribution of wealth is fine, so long as it's done in an efficient and reasonable manner. The US government right now will not do that (and in all reality, contributed to trashing the current system for the inevitable power grab).
