Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Arcade Game 08-03-11 01:11 PM

Yo dude, this game is AWESOME
What can I say? It's sidescrolling beat-em-up action on the NES at it's coolest! It's fun beating the hell out of footsoldiers, great level design and the graphics are great! They really done a good job translating the graphics from arcade to 8-bit. It looks vibrant and colourful (yes I'm British, so I spell it differently). The plot will be familiar to anyone who watched the show: April O'Neil gets captured and you have to save her by beating all the footsoldiers and bosses through each level. The controls are also great. Jump + attack does the usual jump-kick, if you quickly attack slightly after you jump, you'll stab the enemies and kill them in one hit. I find myself using this move a lot, because it's the most powerful move in the game. Unlike in most other beat-em-up games, you can't just mash buttons and kill them, the enemy artificial intelligence in this game is very smart. They're tactical. When you are trying to beat up a footsoldier, another comes up behind you and strangles you and takes a great deal of life from you. That's what I like about this game, it's so challenging. That's what makes it really fun! The fact you need a good strategy in order to survive makes the game fun! That's the keyword, fun. That's why this game is so popular. Because the arcade game was such a huge hit, everybody wanted a console game like the arcade game and they got an awesome port! But, the fact it got released as a sequel to the first NES TMNT game was insulting. That game was terrible. If this game didn't have a subtitle of "The Arcade Game", they would have just expected another piece of garbage. So, the title and the fact that it's a port of the arcade game is it's true selling point. Overall, this game is awesome and I can't stop playing it! It's so addictive!
