Zaxxon 2600 review!I never expected such a good arcade to Atari 2600 game. I have reviewed Pac-Man and that game sucked. I also reviewed Donkey Kong and it was okay but its missing a lot of that arcade feel. Zaxxon is different, it's a 3D game instead of an isometric game. It still has that arcade feel and the graphics are amazing for an Atari game. Let's take a look shall we.
GRAPHICS: Instead of the same old two- four color scheme. Zaxxon is packed with plenty colors, the game uses simulated 3D which is not common in Atari 2600 games, plus the sprites are flicker free. So whoever programmed this game must have worked very hard to make this game look good.
SOUND: The sound is awesome too. There is no music which is okay because Atari games are usually music free. However when you shoot your gun instead of hearing that extremely high pitched beep you will hear a more real sound. Also the sound effects for when your ship is moving is real sounding too.
ADDICTIVENESS: This game is not very addicting but definitely more addicting than most Atari games so I'll bump up the rating for that.
DEPTH: Zaxxon for the 2600 has plenty to offer. There 8 game variations (4 skill levels for single player and 4 skill levels for two player). There is three levels which doesn't seem like a lot but for an Atari 2600 title it shouldn't surprise you.
DIFFICULTY: The game isn't very hard so it's easy to get good at it. The final boss only requires a few hits before its destroyed so that makes finishing the game easy.
