Call of Duty: Black Ops Review by: mlb789 - 8.8/10
Call of Duty Black Ops Call of Duty Black Ops was the "sequel" to Call of Duty World at War, even though the game comes after Modern Warfare Two. This game follows the events of the Bay of Pigs invasion and other historical events around the time. You play as a militant named Alex Mason, who has numbers in his head that mean nothing to him, but are part of a very important operation by the Russians. You travel through a ten year period, going back and forth throughout the time period, which will probably leave you a little overwhelmed after each travel through time.
Graphics 8: These graphics are very good, even compared to later games. For example, if you were to compare Black Ops to MW3, Black Ops would receive the higher grade in graphics. They are nicely detailed to the point that it looks nice, but not too extravagant to the point of Battlefield 3, where the sun is realistically shown, inhibiting your gaming performance.
Sound 8: The sound in this game is pretty good, but not the best. I find it interesting that the sound in the multiplayer menu has so much bass, but it really doesn't matter. The sound really helps you see what happens in real combat (at least, if you play campaign).
Addictiveness 10: Not only do you get a campaign, but when you get tired of that you can play zombies or multiplayer. Zombies seems to be the more addictive of the two, mainly because you try to better yourself by getting to higher rounds with your friends. The multiplayer is also good, but there is much more to zombies than multiplayer.
Story 5: The story in this game would have been good, if they hadn't rattled back and forth through time, even though it was necessary. You should still complete the story to see what happens in the game, and to prep yourself for Black Ops 2, which will be coming out soon.
Depth 10: The game is very deep with it's three game modes, which can keep you occupied for hours at a time. You should have no problem losing hours in this game through the many game modes offered.
Difficulty 3: Even if you play on the appropriate difficulty, this game should be really easy for you. The campaign is not really that hard, and the multiplayer seems easy (in my opinion, your experience will probably be different). Not only are those two game modes easy, but you will probably like how easy the zombies mode is until the very late rounds.
Overall 8.8: Call of Duty Black Ops is really a very good game. You will not only lose yourself for hours as you play this game (unless you have annoying brother who kicks you off all the time), but you will also appreciate how much time they had put into this game. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes First Person Shooters, especially the Call of Duty line of games.
