South Park: Chef's Luv Shack Review (In English/Spanish/Français) Yona_db
English:Fans of South Park will have few problems answering the trivia questions related to South Park and pop culture. Video gamers should like the mini-games which include bastardized versions of classic arcade games like Asteroids, Galaga, and Donkey Kong. South Park: Chef's Luv Shack is not without flaws. People who do not watch South Park will be totally in the dark. Many questions pertain to the show and particular episodes, so unless you have seen and can remember the plot points from each episode of the show, you will have to guess at the answers.Chef's Luv Shack's sound is also ported directly from the television show. Featuring the voice of Isaac Hayes as Chef, as well the voices of Parker and Stone, Chef's Luv Shack is a good facsimile of the animated show that inspired it.I like the game play of Chef's Luv Shack. Even players who know nothing about the show can buzz in on general trivia questions, most of which relate to the 1991 Denver Broncos, Robert Smith of The Cure, or Chewbacca. Even then, gamers who do not answer questions correctly still have a chance to gain points in the mini-games. So, while the game is presented as a trivia-based game show, there are plenty of ways to score points and win. Also, when I play this game, I have to translate the questions and answers. (because I am Argentinian)but I do not mind if I play myself, for example -5760 finished the game with points, but still won the gameSpanish:Los fans de South Park tendrá pocos problemas que responden a las preguntas de la trivia relacionados con South Park. Cheesy but fun with friends. EAPyoutube
I'm sure you're all familiar with Mario Party and it's constant sequels. Mario Party is a game enjoyed by many people. Fun mini games, good soundtrack, good controls, big arguments, violent bashing each other with your controllers until both of you bleed, long trip to the hospital, you basically get the idea. Many developers have tried to conquer the 4 player party game giant, but fail to succeed, despite some of them being quite fun. South Park: Chef's Love Shack is one of them. Does it succeed? No, but it's fun.
This party game has no real story. Chef is holding a game show for hot girls, only to be ruined by the iconic 4 boys appearing instead. Stan, Kyle, Eric and Kenny. So they start the game anyway. Party games never really have a story, and to everyone's surprise, Mario Party has no real story either. Ironically, Sonic Shuffle (Mario Party's biggest rival) had an actual story.
The game is very simple. You and friends get given questions to answer. You have to know quite a bit in order to answer correctly. Unfortunately, if you're like me then you will have to guess, since quite a lot of the questions and jokes are about stuff that today's gamers would not get or understand, making this game really hard to age.
Onto the mini games now. The games are chosen when a round of questions has finished. It's
selected randomly, just like in Mario Party. Unfortunately you choose to play the mini game(s) you like at any time. The only mode in this game is main game itself which is the game show. The games have you skiing down an avalanche, skydiving whilst avoiding everything in sight, running from a herd of cows, shooting a**holes in space, spanking a monkey's a**, etc. They try to have the humour of the show whilst throwing in a few references and jokes from the show itself.
Speaking of the show itself, the artwork of this game replicates the show perfectly. They don't use any choppy 3D models like in South Park 64 or South Park Rally and don't put them in foggy or terribly modelled 3D landscapes. The game is completely 2D and that's perfect. The music doesn't do so well however. None of the soundtrack is rememberable apart from the title screen's music. It would've been good if they managed to fit the original South Park opening theme in the game somewhere.
If you're a really big South Park fan who has friends who would actually play this with you, go ahead and buy this game. However, if you're looking for any South Park game, any game at all, then I'd recommend South Park: The Stick Of Truth on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. This game I'd honestly give a pass.
