Enter Sonic the Werehog   SacredShadow
As much as I like Sonic games and Sonic himself, I must say that I am rather baffled with some of his new modern day games, this one being one of them. When I saw the trailer/preview for this game, I didn't know how to react to the hairy mass that was Sonic the Werehog. Although I'm partial to the classic speedy Sonic games, this one does take a new, yet interesting approach to the Sonic games we all know and love, so without further delay, let's get right to it shall we?
Graphics: 10
If anything, the graphics are perhaps the most remarkable feature of this game, the daytime stages are simply breathtaking and the scenery as well as the attention to detail easily make this one of the better sonic games out there when it comes to graphics. Even the cut scenes in between stages of the game are well put together and they don't look like they were rushed and hastily put together. The only gripe I have with the graphics is that the night time stages suffer from some frame rate issues, but other than that, I have no complaints.
Sound: 10
As far as sound goes for most sonic games, I've never really been blown away by the voice acting or even the soundtracks, but this game actually impressed me because the voice acting is pretty decent, and the music actually fits the tone of each level quite well with the daytime stages being more fast paced and energetic, while the night stages being more mellow and catchy, but it actually works out nicely. Like most sonic games, the music is actually quite catchy and I wouldn't be shocked if you find yourself listening to at least one piece of music a few times over, all the music, even down to the boss battles are simply stunning. I don't think I could ask for anything more when it comes to music to be honest. As for actual sounds, they are pretty realistic and crisp, if you smash into a crate or even perform the homing attack on a chain of robots, it actually sounds like you are smashing/breaking them which goes a long way when it comes to sound effects.
Addictiveness: 5
Even though this isn't your typical, fast paced sonic game, (at least not all of it) it still has a lot to offer because it takes things a step further than your average sonic game with the introduction of the day and night time stages as well as Sonic's new werehog form. I would say the main reasons why I bother playing this game again is because of some of the catchy music on certain stages, and also because of the enjoyment I get out of a certain level itself. The reason I rated this game lower than most sonic games is because it requires more time and investment to complete whereas you can beat most of the older sonic games in a few hours if you really wanted to. It took me about 2-3 weeks to beat the game, so compared to the standard Sonic game, it will take more time to beat which is why I rated it lower. Plus the game isn't really anything special aside from the good graphics and music, which is why I don't play this game that often.
Story: 6
Sonic games have never really been known for having an amazing/detailed plot, and this one really doesn't stand out any more than prior games. As usual, Eggman is up to no good and he makes yet another attempt at building Eggmanland which is what the opening scene to the game is about. It starts off with Eggman's fleet of battleships and then Sonic comes in and wrecks everything and changes to Super Sonic. Once he transforms, Eggman begs him for mercy and forgiveness and promises that he will change his ways. This is a desperate attempt however and he catches sonic off guard and traps him while draining his energy and changing him into his werehog form as a result. Afterwards he launches him into space, plummeting to Earth, in doing so, he awakens the being, Dark Gaia. After this, you basically collect chaos emeralds and visit the temples to restore pieces of the world. The storyline isn't amazing, but it is better than most Sonic games I would say. It starts to make more sense once you start playing.
Depth: 8
If there is one thing that this game has a lot of, it is depth, as I said before, it took me about 2 weeks to completely beat this game, it may not sound like much, but compared to the majority of sonic games, it's kind of a big deal. Each stage has a total of 3 possible moon/sun medals you can earn depending on your performance on the stage, if you get an A or S rank, you are guaranteed to get at least 2, if not all 3 of the medals, and the lower your performance, the lower your chances are of getting all 3 per each stage. This is relevant because you need a certain number of both medals to perform missions within each of the temples, so it might take some time before you unlock said mission. With all of the added stages, locations, cut scenes and bonus content, there is plenty of extra material to keep you busy for a good amount of time, thus why I scored it so highly.
Difficulty: 5
Control wise, this game isn't that hard, if it is your first time playing then Chip will tell you what you need to do to get past a certain area and from there you will become more familiar with the controls of the game. Even though I haven't played the Xbox 360 or PS3 version I can guarantee that this one is probably the easiest because the Wii is very direct and most of the actions are based on simple hand movements. There are some parts that I am sure you will struggle with, but there's nothing overly impossible in the game that you can't overcome with trial and error. So for the most part, the controls are fairly easy to pick up on, and anyone can learn them.
Scoring:
Graphics: 10* 25%
Sound: 10* 25%
Addictiveness: 6* 35%
Story: 6*5%
Depth: 8* 5%
Difficulty: 5* 5%
Total: 8.1/10
Overall: 8.1
When it comes down to it, this game does take a different approach as opposed to the traditional sonic games we are use to, but it is still an interesting game with plenty to do. I admit that I wasn't crazy about the whole werehog idea at first, but after playing it, I had second thoughts. I wouldn't say its the best sonic game out there, but I definitely think it is worth checking out or buying/renting if you are a fan of sonic games because it might just impress you.

Sonic Unleashed Wii Review   Zircron Swift
This Sonic game was predicted that it would be one of the best sonic games that was released for a while. I remember that I wanted to get this game a lot. I would read any review about it, see online trailers and pictures, it looked like an awesome game. So one day, I got it. I was really only looking forward to the day stages to see if they were as glorious as Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. Lets see how this game fairs.
The story opens up with a cut-scene. That is, Sonic is on some big air ship (probably named the "Egg-thing-that-will-most-likely-be-destroyed-within-this-game"), and you see him speeding along, dodging all the missiles and attacks and just generally owning everything in his path. This reminds me of the epic Egg-Carrier level from Sonic Adventure, in which is generally the same thing, only one's a level, and ones a cut-scene. You then see Sonic meet Eggman in his crazy new contraption that resembles one of those robot suits from the Matrix. This suit has everything: machine guns, rocket launchers....the works. I just love how insanely beserk Eggman is acting to try and kill Sonic. I also love the machines Eggman builds to crush Sonic, each game has a certain weirdness to it, but I digress. Eggman captures Sonic, but Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds (which I never question where he keeps them), and turns into Super Sonic.
We see Sonic defeat Eggman in some explosion, and Eggman is in his Egg-Capsule (which always seems like a copy of the Wily Capsule, but I'm pretty sure Eggman was first. In fact, now that I think about it, they are both evil scientific geniuses, they are both fighting something blue, both have a mustache and they always seem to have an indispensable amount of money in their hands to create these huge lairs, several robots and great battle ships. What did their great grand-parents invent to make them so rich to leve to their children? Air? I digress again, sorry), and is finally cornered by Sonic. Eggman shows remorse, in which Sonic humors him for a moment, until he is caught in a trap. This drains the power pf the Chaos Emeralds out of him and Sonic is transformed into some sort of werehog. I say werehog, but technically it's not a werehog. A werewolf is half man, half wolf, so when calling Sonic a werehog means to imply that he was something other than a hedgehog before taking this transformation. So he's half hog and half hedgehog? Or would he be half hedgehog and half hedgehog? The latter makes sense, lets go by that, shall we?
So Eggman gloats, sends Sonic back to earth by releasing an air lock on him and he falls flat on his face, in which the sun rises. He returns to normal and meets this odd character that is later named "chip", and he is like the Sonic equivalent of Navi, only not as bad as it might sound. He teaches you how to play the game during the tutroial level. The opening is promising enough, and the story has a couple of plot-twists and a pretty amazing professor. The aim is to put back together the world as it has split up into seven pieces.
The controls are simple enough. For the day stages, you move around with the Joy-stick, you swing the wii-mote to dash forward and to use your homing attack, you press A to jump and Z to slide. Combined this with the level design and you have some pretty epic gaming right there. The night stages are a different story entirely. You move with the Joy-stick, and a combination of different movements of the nun-chuck and wii-mote to preform several different moves, some of which you need to unlock. The A still makes you jump, though.
I like how the attention to detail is fine. The graphics in general are stunning in the day time stages, but rightfully eeire at the night time stages. The cut scenes are smooth and well done, while the backgrounds create a somewhat overall good affect when running at high speeds or looking into the background at night. The game play is far better than I expected in the day time stages. It's adrenaline pumping when running at top speeds and intoxicating to preform everything correctly without stopping the beat of the running. It's just what I wanted, the feeling is almost like a 3D version of Ninja Gaiden for the NES. These stages often change from a 3D perspctive to a 2D perspective. At the end of each day stage, depending on how quickly you got to the finishing point, you will get some moon medals, and vise versa for the night stages. Wouldn't it make more sense if you got sun medals for the day stage and moon medals for the night stage?
The night stages seem to slow down the game a bit. You fight these monster, and after every kill, you gain exp, but will only count if you can complete the level. Not much platforming here, just beat them up, continue, and beat more of them up. Again, you get sun medals according to how fast you complete the level. When you level up, you can increase your health bar, or your power, but it's all passive and you have no control over what you level up with. When you get to that level, you get that power-up. Somewhere in these levels, you can find a secret, and these secrets often unlock pieces of art or music you can view in the bonus section. Then there are these temples, in which there are several doors .Doors will open when you have enough sun and moon medals. Two of them open up a level in both the day and night time, while the middle of these two offers a boss. The other doors are for bonuses and stuff like that, and aren't really important unless you like to unlock everything.
The interaction of the countries you visit is quite low grade and disapointing. There are four spots, in which clicking on one of these spots will take you to a person. They give a little information and you go back to the city. You don't even explore the area, it's just four spots to go and talk to people. The lowest form of an RPG simplified greatly. When your on the level select, however, you can take part in missions to gain more sun and moon medals. Fail these missons, and you are given a re-try screen. But this screen holds a nice touch. This has the game's theme in it, only it sounds a little messed up and like the band who is playing it is failing, just like you did in the game. That's a really nice touch.
The music is superb. Simply put, some of the levels have really catchy music. It fits well with the game and is a joy to listen to. I don't think there was one bad song in it, in fact. The best songs are left till the credits, with vocals to match the adventure and post-adventure of the game. I couldn't stop listening to these songs when I played this game. I used to listen to the credits just to hear these songs, go to the music section and hear them, lerned the names of them and generally being some of my favouite pieces of music in a sonic game. Shame there was no Crush 40, but this was a nice change.
Overall, I give this game a 7.4/10           The game was very well made. The night time stages were a little off and did slow down the games speed overall, but it doesn't out-weigh the amazing day time stages, the music, the graphics and the enjoyable game play that made this game what it was. If your a Sonic fan and want to find a game that has fast speeds with that Sonic charm that was in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, then this is the best your going to get next to Sonic Colours.

~SONIC UNLEASHED REVIEW~

Time

for another review, And this one's for Sonic unleashed so let's get started. The game begins in space, you can see earth, (or Mobius or whatever the
heck that planet is called) orbiting beautifully on the horizon. But then Eggman's space fleet appears out of nowhere and is now hovering over earthuhh, Mobius and has 8 mother ships in all, the camera zooms in on the
bridge and you can see Eggman laughing heartily at his soon-to-be success, until. . . In the tip of the ship Sonic lands and you can see the familiar blue blur and him race to action. But
Eggman has other plans he yells FIRE! And all the droids come up on
deck, Sonic jumps right in. He smashes them with homing attacks and
dashes to Robotnick who in now on deck, He fires his machine gun from his Menacing Egg Dragoon and sonic jumps onto the wall behind him, just to find out that the Doctor had some missile launchers on the back of the Egg Dragoon and fires some at him, Sonic jumps away and runs down the Coroder to get away from the missile's, But Eggman says "You not getting away!" and his machine gun turns into a hand and grabs Sonic and brings him back into his clutches.Sonic struggles for just a half second before smiling at Eggman and
releasing the seven chaos emeralds. Sonic Goes Super and frees himself before Smashing through the entire robot that Eggman was driving. Eggaman says in a frightful Voice "oh no! Time to go! And races down the corridor Sonic was just in a moment ago. Eggman
rushes ahead closing every door behind him and escapes the ship. But
not as easily as he thinks Sonic busts through every door without effort and heads to Eggmans secret Space retreat Eggman enters the
retreat but loses control of himself and crashes right into the main room. Sonic Quickly bursts through the floor and has a quick chat with Eggman.
Eggman: "S-Sonic! I-I'm sorry! R-really! L-look, go easy on me! I'll
turn over a new leaf I swear! Just give me a chance!" he yells while dropping to his knees and laying his face on the ground just as Sonic (who looks completely awesome while super) lands in front of him.
Super Sonic: Well, this in new. Showing remorse, Eggman? If you played nice, I wouldn't have to break all your toys." But just as sonic
says this the hedgehog hero falls into a trap. Eggman pushes a switch he secretly had in this hand and yells "Gotcha!" as 8 white and black electric poles surrounds and captures him. The current extracts the chaos emeralds and has Sonic trapped. Will he escape? Will he stop Eggman? Find out by playing the game yourself! Now for the review.

-GAMEPLAY-

The Game consists of two parts, Daytime and Nighttime during the day you play as Sonic, But during the night you play as Unleashed Sonic, First I will Explain normal Sonic. Sonic is just like he was in sonic adventure (2) he can run jump home in on badnicks and he has a new ability, he can bost? What is boost, boost is built up in a bar at the bottom of the screen and you press the Y button to let it out and Sonic will run very fast with a blue ayrodynamic streak in front of him. Daytime Sonic was fun and it built the fundamentals for Colors and Generations Boost meter.

Now, Nighttime levels, During the night you turn into Unleashed Sonic, Unleashed Sonic is big and bad, he is harry and in reality is a were-hog (you know, like a were-wolf) he is a blue-gray color and has dense fur, he is slow but powerful and packs a punch! You do not want to deny this guy when in a grumpy mood, ever! But even thought he has a horrendous body he still has a good heart that cares for others. He attacks with 1 – 2 punches and during the night many powerful enemies emerge from nowhere to attack you

-GRAPHICS-
The graphics must be split into two categorys Cutscenes and Gameplay
first of all there is Cutscene graphics. Seeing the Graphics and the Epic cutscene I mentioned above make a perfect combo, Unleashed Sonic's hari fly's in the wind with great realism, and everything looks very polished and neat, an perfect 10   The gameplay graphics on the other hand look kind of clunky though, It is almost like the Unleashed engine was one built for a Gamecube :/ they are nothing like Sonic Colors sadly So I must give it a 5
-SOUND-
The
sound is great, the main theme and Endless possibility they are great songs and deserve to be. Also the themes for the courses are done well.I give it a 9
-ADDICTIVENESS-
I'm sure that if I didn't have Sonic Colors or Sonic Generations I would play this game all the time (no, really) the game is that well done with the daytime levels. The daytime courses are quick paced and you are put right into action. It was the building block that founded (and will continue to found) most if not all future Sonic games.

The nighttime levels are nice as well, but it is not Sonic-like. I'm not saying it was a bad change for just one game, but I'm not interested in seeing a return for a while, On a personal note, I hated Unleashed Sonic untill I just forgot that it was a Sonic game, it got a lot better and I realised that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, It turned out that I enjoyed Unleashed Sonic quiet a bit, 8

-DEPTH-

the

depth is not all that deep, It is fair, but the 'depth' is more of

'get moon and sun medals to unlock a side room with treasures' type thing. And you are probily wondering what moon medals are since we are on the subject

Moon medals are given out for beating Daytime levels (the main courses give 3 and the challanges give 1) you have to get a good enough rank to get the medals. For daytime its 1stmedal means you beat the level, you fet the 2ndone for getting an A rank and for the 3rdfor getting an S rank. Night time is simular in handouts except you get the 1stfor getting to the goal in target time. The Medals let you acess side rooms in the temples and aquire Sound tracks and art.

Now to speak about the levels and there content. The levels leingth averges about 3 minutes for Daytime and 8 through 11 for night time There are 7 daytime levles (excluding the challanges) and 25 for the night time levels, so the depth is fair here. Also note that there is a RPG like system that enhances you abilitys after destroying hoards of badnicks and monsters, as you gain XP you gain attacks like higher damage levels and special moves. You also gain more health and more unleashed power (adrenaline rush).

-STORY-

The story is based on the entity Dark Gaia, Dark Gaia is traped in the planet core and emerges once every 1,000,000 years to attempt take over the earth, and mix light and shadow to create darkness. When Robotnick frees the entity, the planet breacks into 7 parts each holding one contenent, To restore the planes Sonic needs to find the 7 temples and put the chaos emeralds into place to restore the earth and seal Dark Gaia for another 1,000,000 years. But during the time of Dark Gaia's temporary reign during the night everyone is affected my his power and is deluded by his power. Except those with a strong mind and a strong heart, Like Sonic. But even though Sonic has both of these atributes he is affected in a different kind of way. He becomes Unleashed Sonic.

-WRAP THINGS UP-

Pros:

Super fun and wicked fast daytime levels!

Boost meter introduced (MAJOR building block for future games)

   Nighttime combat

    Story has good points

Cons:

   Slightly clunky daytime levels

Look's like it was a gamecube engine once

And that finished my longest and best review I have done yet, see you next time! ;)
