Shinobi 3 (Sega Genesis) review G@mehe@d
Wow, I was surprised when I played this game. I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. The graphics, sound, and gameplay, are all nearly perfect. Keep reading to find out about exactly good this game is.
Gameplay A: The gameplay is almost perfect, your ninja controls perfectly. He is easy to control, and very maneuverable. Ducking, wall jumping, and hanging are some of the things he can do. He can also do a variety of special moves that do a variety of things. Each has their own uses, but I found the blur move to be the most useful. The level designs are great. Each level takes advantage of what you can do. They are simple and straight forward, yet they reward you for looking outside the box, without being a maze. Certain levels allow you to ride a horse, or some kind of surf board. They too, are fun despite being simple. Killing enemies is very satisfying, and it never gets old, thanks to the changing scenery, and satisfying effects.
Graphics A+: The graphics are amazing. The scenery can be beautiful, or have an industrial look, either way the levels are detailed, and always changing their look and feel. The sprites are well sized, and there is no slow down, something you would expect on the Genesis. The visual effects are outstanding as well, while there is no scaling, (does there need to be)? The rotation of the bosses, and the impressive use parallax scrolling. Make the environments immersive, and realistic. I find it funny, how even when you kill a human enemy they explode.
Sound B+: The music is quite impressive, the Asian style music is unique, and not stereotypical. Its catchy, and instrumental. For a system, known for its more electronic sound. This is a big deal. The sound effects are okay, some of them show their age, like the giant fart sound when you kill an enemy.
Replay Value B: There's no reason why you should play this game again. I would because its just so much fun.
Depth B+: There are only 7 levels, but they are huge, and are quite different from each other.
Difficulty Medium: Just enough difficulty to make a good challenge, nothing to hard, or easy.

A game worthy of being called, "Ninja Tough" mastersword2799
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master is a smooth fast-paced sidescroller with a limited story. I can't help but compare this game to Ninja Gaiden, though I'm not saying that one is better than the other.
Graphics:
The game contains excellent graphics quality. I feel that everything involving graphics in this game was exceptional. The characters were detailed and the objects were quite interesting. The boss characters were AMAZING. They were well designed, unique, and above all interesting. I can't really say too much about the bosses because it might spoil the game! The backgrounds were also interesting and lively. I'd give this a 10.
Sound:
Shinobi III contains some pretty good music and sound effects. The music was considerably good. It wasn't boring, but it wasn't very memorable. The sound effects on the other hand were great! I loved the projectile sounds and the damage sounds. The cutting, wall jumping, and damage sounds were high quality and cool. I say this is worth an 8.
Addictiveness:
This game wasn't all too addicting. It is worth playing and a game you would want to beat, but you could easily put down the controller (or leave the computer). The game is fun but lacks ultimate excitement. I do have to admit there are a few parts where you feel that you MUST beat it. I give this a 7.
Story:
After beating the game twice, I realized that there was pretty much no story. There are no cut scenes like in Ninja Gaiden, and no way to really tell what is going on. I did find the story by reading the box, but other than that the story isn't developed. Truthfully, I don't think you play Shinobi for the story line anyway. There is a story, but you don't learn anything new. There is text in the ending, but it doesn't tell you what happened during the game. I feel that this game had a lot of potential for a good story, but sadly did not use it. I say 5.
Depth:
This game does not have much depth, as the levels are pretty straight forward. There are no real secrets and the game can be completed in a relatively short time. I beat this game twice in one day, so I don't think it offers too much. Not to mention there are very few abilities and justu. Sadly this game does not offer as much as I would want, but redeems itself with the amazing gameplay. I rate this a 5.
Difficulty:
I think that Shinobi III is considerably hard at times. The game has some parts that leave you only able to use your pure skill to complete. The levels at the beginning are quite easy, but eventually it get HARD. A great example is the last level. There is no walkthrough that can teach you how to complete that level. Only your own skill can complete it. There is a reason why this game is called ninja tough. I give this an 9.
Over all, this game is very good despite the score I have given it. There were many things I was disappointed in, but in the end the game turned out alright. It had high quality graphics, decent sounds and music, barely a story, but a high level of difficulty. Some thing that deserves mentioning is the gameplay. The gameplay is smooth, yet fast and exciting. The double jump can be stubborn at times, but above all else this game is fast. The over all score is 7.3. I would recommend this game to anybody for its exciting gameplay, and quality graphics.

Shinobi 3 Is amazing believe it LilGB
I own the original Sega Mega Drive game of this gem. Unfortunately I don't have a console to play it on now. This game I played during my childhood of the '90s.
It's the sequel to revenge of the shinobi, bringing new abilities, graphics, sounds & levels.
Graphics: Musashi & everything else looks great in 16bits.
Sound: Each track sounds great despite it being repeated a few times in areas. The boss fight music matches them perfectly as well as the finale.
Gameplay: Side scrolling action , with improvements such as running , slashing, wall jumps & the always useful double jump & shuriken burst. Some areas you need to practice your jumps & timing to progress, especially the last few level with the falling rocks & electric fields. I lost so many lives there.
Addictive: There's no new things to unlock once you've cleared it but the harder difficulties are there to add more challenges or if you want to do a no shuriken/magic run or search everywhere for secrets.
Story: It's pretty basic , Neo Zeed has returned & you have to stop the Ninja Master.
Depth : There's 7 stages with various areas & mini bosses/bosses to beat ,from forests to riding on a horse or jetski across a harbour ,to high tech facilities , a bio lab & finally a giant flying airship.
The bosses are all unique looking & some are throwbacks to the revenge of shinobi. The giant robot Godzilla like boss & the boss of stage 6.
Difficulty: It's pretty difficult but it feels less brutal than it's predecessor, after stage 4 it becomes harder, especially 6/7, the knock back isn't as bad as Castlevania but it gets annoying when you're jumping & an enemy projectile knocks you back down.
This is a great platformer & very nostalgic to me. I'd love the series to make a return in this sidscrolling format like streets of rage did but that's very unlikely.
