8-Bit Legend   yoshirulez!

Now I'll admit, I'm not much of a rayman fan. I first got this game at a sort of flea market type of deal, And it was closing time and they weren't opening back up for about a year. So, At the end of the day most things are free. I got this game free. I first saw the gameboy color cartridge, Where the label wasn't showing. I was like "Oooh! I bet it's The legend of zelda oracle of seasons ^.^" But it turned out to be this. I was disdained for a while, But when i got home I played it anyways. I decided it sucked and just kinda ignored it for some time, About 2 months. I picked it up because I pretty much beat every game in my collection. So after picking it up and playing with it for about an hour, I decided that I really liked it. I didn't beat the game for a while, Because the darn thing was hard for me at first. I would like to say more but this is really dragging on the introduction of the review, So I'll get to the actual review part :V

Graphics:7. I've always been a fan of 8-Bit graphics, So I got into this real fast. Though it may seem like it was absolute rubbish, It's very good for It's time. Blocks and pixels look good on a small screen, Like the game boy color had. With the aspect ratio of the screen and the graphics, It actually looked awesome. I mean, Things like Oracle of ages, And Magi nation, They could've been on higher graphical systems, But it just wouldn't be the same. If it had looked like Conkers bad fur day, Then it would pretty much look like some sort of clone. Plagiarism=bad. And making a clone of a game is pretty much plagiarism In my opinion. Although certain things don't look quite right in this game, Such as Falling out of the sky, when you're clearly on a platform, Everything else is very well done. 7/10

Sound:6. Although 8-Bit sounds don't sound "great" per se, They're not awful. At least it's not as annoying as some sound effects in Commodore 64 games. Though the sounds can get a bit annoying, You tend to ignore it by admiring the other features of the game it makes up for. The sounds aren't generic at all, So that goes a long way In my opinion. Originality is key to a good game, And with this sound, That makes this game a good game. 6/10

Music:10. I've always been a fan of 8-Bit game music, Stuff like magi nation and Links awakening... It's just something about the effects mixed with the music that blends it together oh so fine. If you could find me a 10 hours version of the third stage, I would probably listen to the whole thing. The general aura of the music makes you somewhat calm in certain places, And then peppy, And yknow... The dark music in the fiery depths. It all adds to the experience of the game. Without music the game would've bombed for me. So, I really like this music. As one of my friends said: "Gets ya right in the feels". 10/10.

Addictiveness:9. Replay over and over again. Basically if you get bored with the game, You'll get unbored in about 10 minutes. I've speedran it in about half an hour, Then after an hour I tried to do it again. I still play this game from time to time. I actually played this about 3 days ago, When waiting to get on and do a review. So addictive you'll let your games rot in a corner for about 3 months straight. 9/10.

Story:7. I find the story to be a bit weird, But at least it's not about beans. Instead, It's about how some dude named Mr.dark captured all of the residents of some sort of forest called "Toons". While the main protagonist, "Rayman" Is sleeping peacefully, some sort of fairy race called "Tings" wake him up and warn him about Mr.dark and the fate of the toons. So, rayman has to go around breaking a number of cages in each stage, and eventually get to the end of the game and defeat Mr.dark. Not a very deep story, But I'll give it points for originality and general weirdness. Like beans, Only less weird. So, 7/10.

Depth:5. There's not a whole lot to do, But you after you beat the game, You'll need to go back through the levels using the password system so you can free the rest of the toons that you couldn't because you didn't have the right powers at the time. Other than that, There's not really anything else to do but things you could pretty much do with every other game. Speedrun,High score, Highscorespeedrun, Or speedrun the game twice in a day. So, This game lacks in certain areas. Not much to do. 5/10.

Difficulty:8. Now, Because this is a highspeed platformer, Almost like a mix between sonic the hedgehog and mario, Makes this game a bit of a challenge at first. You eventually memorize the levels, Learn tricks and learn how to manipulate the fast parts. I had a load of trouble with this game the first time i played it, And i ragequitted and tossed it into a corner. After my sister, SUX2BU, Started playing the game, I decided to try it again and got better. Like i always like to say: Practice makes good enough. And that's pretty much all i am at this game, Is good enough. I still haven't gotten all of the toons yet. I plan on working on that some time soon though. Extreme trouble with this game, 8/10.

Overall:7.5. I was pretty Impressed with this game as it had fluid moving controls for the Game boy color. Usually games aren't like that. I would recommend this game to anyone who's looking for a challenge, And I'm always looking for a challenge. Impressive game.

Well, I'm done now, So off to try to get all of the toons. I can never manage to get all of them for some reason.

Now time for summons as to who would probably want to see this
