Pac man party: The party game of su casa mi` casa!
Hi y'all! Just got my hands on this great game. It's a lot like the more commonly known mario party (but personally, I think this is even better) Pac man party features 5 different lands in which you and your friends can battle it out on the field, or you can just take on the cpu and decide how strong  you want them to be. There are little extra boss battles in each world that will give you the chance at extra cookies, which will, in turn get you closer to the end of the level. With several modes to play in and even a few arcade games, what more could a party game fanatic ask for?

Graphics: 7
The graphics in this game are great for the most part, all the colors seem to be right on target. Nothing looks too choppy, everything is very beautiful throughout the main game. However, I do have a complaint against one thing here...the arcade games. I know that namco can do a better job than what they did with these arcade games. In galaga, I found so many instances where the enemies had flickering lines through them. Sometimes the blue aliens and their missile fire appear elongated. So there were a couple of graphic glitches that I usually don't see in this section. Also, the backgrounds that they put up for these felt a little cheap to me, but perhaps I'm just being picky. (Typically their backgrounds are remniscient of the original arcade display designs, but here, they took those designs and put it all in one much duller color. But really, other than that, the graphics were great. I was really only disappointed because I know that namco (especially on the wii) has done better; and I was beginning to get the impression that they half-heartedly threw these on here because they had a little more room on the disc but did not want to make up another mini game.

Sound: 9
No complaints here, once again the namco sound guys did their jobs very well (I wonder who was slacking off in the graphics lab!) The pitches sound good for all the noises and music, as well as the characters. I was slightly disappointed that they did not do character voice acting, as they have in several games prior to this one, but that really isn't a quality issue, just a personal preference.

Addictiveness: 10
As with the mario party series, this game can be extremely addicting. Here's why, even after you play it through the first time, you can play it through again, and different things will happen. You never really get the same game twice. Of course, one of the best qualities of a party game is that you can play it with other players! So even after beating the game, there are a lot of other challengers! Also, they put the minigames in a collection by themselves so that you can also play them outside the game boards. I love the gameplay design. Once again, I feel that namco managed to get the creative edge over nintendo. Instead of racing to the end of the track and getting enough coins to get the star (that always seems to move just beyond your reach), you run along the track, collecting cookies as you go. Along the way, you are also able to build castles, as well as steal other players' castles by landing on them and battling in a mini game. The castle thing isn't the most important thing, but it's a big help in getting those extra cookies. You never know when you might have to defend your own! With surprises around every corner, you are sure to be stuck on this game for a while.

Story: 9
For most games, this story would get a lower rating, but considering that it is a party game, I would say that it beats the "for glory" party story of his party series. Basically, you are entrusted with a recipe, but before you even get to read it, Blinky (the red ghost) snatches it from you. In order to get it back, blinky demands that you challenge him to a game. And so it begins...

Depth: 9
I've already played through story mode, and assumed that I was done. (silly me!) Apparently, the game has 50 different achievements, that will require me to play through the game many times to get them all. Oh, and by the way, this game actually offers you the ability to choose the spot that you wish to land on. (That is, if you can beat the space games, that's what I call them. You can throw darts, pop balloons, drop balls and try a slot machine to get you where you want to go. Then there is the whole idea of mastering the mini games. After all, how are you supposed to defend your castle or steal others' if you can't win the games? Like most party games of this style, there are event spaces where you choose a box and see what happens. Anything can happen with these from getting an extra power cookie to losing your biggest castle (of course, it would be "randomly selected" Mine's been randomly selected 7 times already!) But basically, anything can happen, and your ability to win would depend on your ability to roll with the punches!

Difficulty: 6
Pac man party is not a difficult game at all to play. The mini games are all very easy to pick up on. In addition, you can always choose the power of your cpu opponents in party mode. So basically, this game will be as hard as you want it to be.

Overall: 9.6
According to my calculations, this would be a fair rating to give this game. Pac man party is the first party game that I have had in a long time, and I absolutely love it. Even with quirks like colleting cookies instead of power pellets. This game will absolutely give you
hours of fun! So be sure to pick it up and Pac in a good time!
