Aerobiz Supersonic - bizzing the Aero really fast   geeogree
Aerobiz Supersonic is a business strategy game for the Super Nintendo. It was made in 1994 by Koei and later ported to the Sega Genesis. The game basically revolves around building up an airline company from the ground up into a worldwide leader using all of the business acumen you possess. Obviously the game takes a simplistic view into how this would be accomplished but being a strategy game it does have a lot of possible options to use in order to win the game. I’m going to delve into some of this for this review as well as talking about the other major aspects of the game.
Graphics 5/10 – Considering when this game was made the system it was on the graphics could have been so much better. They are not bad graphics but more like they were just “good enough” for the game to be playable. The maps are pretty simplistic in nature but again do the trick. The animations of faces and things like that are also passable. The whole feel of the game is a bit cartoony. It doesn’t try too hard to be super realistic so I forgive a lot of the shortcomings the graphics have. Still, I can not rate the game high on graphics because they are not good.
The one really enjoyable thing, the first time you see it, is the animation of a plane taking off when you set up a new route for your planes to fly. It is fairly well done. After the first time seeing it then it becomes annoying because it takes a long time to get through and adds nothing to the overall gameplay.
Sound 7/10 – I actually really enjoy the music for this game. It does not have a lot of variety to it but the songs are all pretty fun to listen to. And the nature of the gameplay means you don’t spend tons of time listening to any one song before moving on. They are laid back but catchy tunes representative of the area of the world you are looking at, stereotypically at least. The other random sounds in the game are all fine. Nothing exceptional about any of it really. It all fits the overall feel of the game and does not distract from the game.
Addictiveness 8/10 – if you are a strategy game fan then this game will appeal to you. Since I am a big fan of this style of game I am rating this game highly. Having 4 starting points, in time that all affect the type of planes you have available, as well as having multiple starting points in each of the 7 areas of the world to play in allows for a lot of replay-ability to the game. The game is fairly slow paced so there is no rush or pressure while playing allowing you to take your time learning and experiencing the game. The first time through is tough because there are a lot of things to learn and get used to before really getting good at the game.
There are also random and planned events that happen in the game. The planned ones follow real historical events that occurred before the game was made. Future planned events are only guessed at as what the developers thought my happen going forward. The random events are things like certain towns being the vacation destination for that year. If you are flying to that city or own property there then you are likely to get a boost from the extra tourism.
Story – you are building an airline from the ground up. You don’t have a character and no one else really matters. Doesn’t matter where you start or anything that doesn’t change the story. It basically doesn’t exist so I’m not rating the game on story at all.
Depth 7/10 – this to me was one of the more enjoyable strategy games for the SNES. Not many games on the SNES that are billed as strategy games have as much to do as this game did. Obviously the main thing you did in this game was to set up routes to fly your planes on from city to city in order to make money. In this you mad multiple planes to pick from especially depending on which era you pick to start in. Each era had different planes to start and end with as the time progressed. They did overlap a bit so you would see some of the same planes but not all at the same time.
You also had to buy extra planes when you started to run out of existing planes. You had multiple builders to pick from and each builder had a variety of planes to choose from depending on the era. Most of them were historical up until the mid 1990’s and then it all became a guess after that. Still, this added a lot of variety to the game. Also, depending on who you bought from and where you were located the prices varied.
There were also a fair number of things you could buy in each city in the game. You could buy hotels and theaters and charter airlines and things like that to boost your revenue. A lot of the time the extra revenue was not a huge impact but a strategy involving buying up a lot of these kinds of properties over time could help with cash flow problems in the game and possibly help make flights more profitable. There were also some other side options you could pick from. Things like maintenance and advertising could be changed to save money. Lots of variables in this game were available to make it quite an interesting and in depth game.
Difficulty 7/10 – while this is not anywhere near the most difficult game to play it does take an understanding of how businesses operate in general and supply and demand in order to be successful. You can not just force people to fly to places they do not want to go on planes that do not make any sense. You have to understand that not every flight from 1 place to another is going to be successful and that there are things you can do to help or hinder that. A few plays through the game should be enough to understand the game sufficiently in order to win on a basic difficulty level. Starting in North America or Western Europe helps a lot as opposed to starting in Africa or the Middle East. Little things that can make the game easier or harder to play by choice or by accident.
Overall 6.8/10 – this is not a game for every person out there. It is a very strategy and business centered game style. However, if you like this style of game this is definitely a game that is worth giving a try. I’ve played it multiple times and will likely play it again sometime just to see if I can win again.

Aerobiz Supersonic: Strategy Gaming!   Fireproof
I have to begin this topic off with KOEI. KOEI is the mastermind behind a majority of the strategy games found on the SNES. Aerobiz Supersonic is another one of those pretty cool games given birth by KOEI. This time it's a game about airline business planning. You take the role of the new airline CEO of whichever city you choose to create your hub or base from. In this game itself you compete against 3 other airlines to boost profits while expanding the business. The goal of the game is to rank 1st in 4 parts of the world for a year. If you manage that much, you win the game. It is pretty cool and far from a bad game, at least for the strategy seekers.
Overall: 7
As previously stated, it isn't a bad game at all but it also isn't the best game. The game itself can present some difficulties that might leave you feeling like the game is dead-set against you. Most of the aspects of the game work fairly well, but also seems pretty weak, even for the SNES. Overall, the game can be fun.
Graphics: 5
Graphics, to say the least, are somewhat weak. The definitely work for the game, but the overall quality does not amaze me. One concern of mine is the amount of graphics, everything is basically still pictures and nothing ever really changes. Whenever you open a new route you can see a plane flying to and from but overall animations are limited to a star flashing, a plane moving back and forth and a plane showing you in comparison to other players. Graphics do not make the eyes go wow but they don't totally suck either.
Sound: 5
Ha ha, music... Music can be really annoying sometimes and other times kind of cool. It can really get on your nerves when you're on the main menu screen selecting all the different settings before you start your game. During this part of the game you'll really want to crank up your stereo. After you get into the game, it's not nearly as bad. I could probably trade some of the music they had for this game for some music that I listen to :P . Sound itself isn't too  too bad, but not something I care for at all. It works for the game is all I can say.
Addictiveness: 8
As a firm strategy seeker, any strategy like game keeps me motivated, Years after not having this game, I've still returned to it to play some more. It can be very addictive and with having several different paths to choose, you can play this game in more than 1 way. Strategy is all about the unlimited possibilities in selecting each next step. One of the addictive pieces of this game is your ability to select different cities to start from. Let's say you begin with a big name city like Tokyo. This city would make you begin with a lot of cash because it's a big name city with a lot of cash. If you choose a city like Athens (I'm not sure if Athens is a playable city, but for the example's sake.....) you'll begin with a low allotment of money and the angle which you play is different. With having so many choices, you can easily do different things. One aspect that also furthers the addictive quality is your ability to choose each age which you play in. This brings about different airplanes and models as well as changes the amount of cash you begin with and the number of people in each city.
Story: 3
There really isn't a story here. The only real part of the story is specific to the airlines and how the airlines were revolutionizing the world. The only real role you play in the story is what models you use. That and you becoming CEO of a company in that region. Overall story, could be seen as weak, but there isn't a need for story here at all. In some aspect you might find the game somewhat educational, but it's purpose is simply business strategy.
Depth: 10
Aerobiz Supersonic is pretty in depth. The first part of this game is the ability to choose from about 30 cities to start from, each giving a different allotment of starting cash and different area. The second aspect is your ability to micromanage everything in your flights from the number of planes you use on route, the amount you charge, the number of slots you've placed bids in for to suspending and closing your route altogether. There's many options available to the player. You also have the ability to purchase planes from different companies. You may decide to run an advertising campaign, which can boost sales in the regions which you run ads for, Success for your ads depends on the number of  businesses you own in that region. So there's a lot you can do! You also have the ability to ask your team for advice and see where everything is at. Even your team can provide insight into your routes and what you can do to fix or make them better with choosing the meeting icon. This part of the game, you should enjoy!
Difficulty: 8
This seriously depends on where you begin. It's easy to mess up your game and be without money for years if you don't make the smart choices. Location is a major factor in this game. Some wars break out during these years and some of the real events incorporated into the game itself with you playing around these. Olympics is one such international event that gains a lot of sales and provides perfect tourism to whichever city it is found in. Another event might be a civil war where you get absolutely no passengers or your flight gets shut down for the remainder of the war, which can easily hurt a part of your profits. There's plenty of difficulty to be found here as well as find yourself playing an easier game.
In the end, this wasn't one of Koei's finer games in my opinion. I like this game and have personally come back to purchase it here on the Vizzed online gaming site to play it several times more. The few flaws it has aren't so bad, but that only really matters to someone who plays the game for the strategy. Hope you enjoy the review and challenge the game!

Aerobiz Something Sonic   Deadman9001
Overall: 6.7
This game in a brief summary is an airline tycoon game, one the first mixes of Airline Transportation and Business sim games. ?Scenario's starting from the start of Jet transport to 2005, about 9 years after the North American release of the game. ?The game has goals set for you, however the basic goal is to become the number 1 transportation group in the world. ?You play against four other players (human/CPU) with a host of planes to select from. ?If you start at the very early scenario your options will be limited to one plane by each manufacturer. ?
Graphics: 6
Graphics worked for this game as far as using theme appropriate images on the screen. ?It features a brief cinematic of a plane taking off any time you open a route, and does historical events as well as random tourist type events throughout the game following the players turn. However I feel that they could've done so much more. ?Planes flying to different airports, somewhat detailed pictures of authentic aircraft are what this game offers, but most of the icons on the screen don't tell you what they do. ?Some even look nothing like the tab it takes you to. Even the end turn button doesn't really look like something that would obviously show end turn. ?
Sound: 5
The Loading Screen and the continent screen are the only places you notice much of a soundtrack. ?Every time a plane takes off it has its own "victory" theme you will hear over and over again the larger you become. ?The continent screen's audio is kinda gimmicy but that is just how the styling of 1995 games was in a simulation game. ?They could've however used some better tracks than something you'd hear in SimCity.
Addictiveness: 8
Despite the lower scores above, this game can be pretty addictive. ?With a goal to be the #1 airliner in the world, how can you say no? ?The game can be frustrating at times, however overall I just find myself coming back to this game over and over.
Depth:3
This game was not really made to have a lot of Depth. ?As a Sim that focus's on Airline managing, the only real sense of depth in the game is the amount of choices you can make with where you start, where you expand and what side ventures you want to invest in.
Difficulty:7
Aerobiz is pretty tough for someone who doesn't usually play this style of game. ?Without proper icon indicators figuring out what to do can be challenging, and you may miss some key features just by not clicking on a button. ?On top of that the AI can be very competitive with you, and like most early video games, can really exploit all the functions of the game, while giving you little slack. ?If you want to do well start in Major cities of the West, Europe, or Australia. ?Asia and Russia seem rather negatively affected by the Communism bug to really give the player an edge early on. ?I did try a China play starting in Beijing, and despite expanding to other areas, and having a rather good hold on Chinese and partly Japanese hubs, Out of Region airliners were getting better business in the area. ?Always look at your planes and flights to try and capitalize on your hubs strong suits. If you don't do this, you will quickly fall behind maybe too far to correct yourself and win.

It's interesting anyway, not the best game ever. beginners should pick the basic big name cities (Moscow is hard because of the Soviet Union vs EU conflict depending on the scenerio you pick)
