I forgot to talk about the controller actually. Well, I got used to it in the long run, but it can get annoying after a while. I believe it was a good game though, considering being a port. |

Returning to Vizz, I decided to write a new review, this time from a classic from my childhood: Simcity 2000 for the SNES, because I love these game series And because
EA sucks.. A little of story of this game: I got to play this games several years ago, I don't remember exactly when, maybe I was like 12, and it was my introduction to city building games. I must say that even when I went to red almost every city I had fun with it, and even more when I figured out how to start making money. Let's get started: If you have played any of the Simcity games, then you get the same idea as always: build roads, a power station, zone Residential, Industrial and Commercial and connect everything and watch how it grows. And then you have to see what to do with civics, because there's no way people will be happy with crimes or random fires. And yes, they want a diploma, so your city requires a school sometime. This, and more stuff you have to take care of was something that was fun to do, and achieving a thrilling city with high population was a common and difficult achievement to accomplish. Graphics: The graphics used in Simcity 2000 are the same used on the other versions, there's not much difference between them. And I must say I love them: You actually see a detailed and living city on the screen when buildings start growing. I don't have much to say that they are what you would expect from a city building game on the SNES, even knowing they managed to take PC graphics of the time on the SNES, Sound: This is one of the points I feel the game fails. You hear the same 2 songs (maybe there are more, but I'm not sure) after a quiet time with no BGM on the game. It's so much enjoyable to turn down the music and put your own music, it doesn't matter if it isn't about city building. Sound effects are acceptable, even if you build like three schools and hear the same SFX all the time... r when you are demolishing a lot of stuff... remember to turn down the volume or you'll bleed Addictiveness: This is the point I find it is important in this game: how much you can get out of it. As a city builder you can have a lot of fun building cities as you want, it is easy to return to a point where the city was okay if you did something that took you from green to red in one game year thanks to being able to sae and reload almost every time you want (and don't forget to save when you are turning the game off). It feels good to play, how your city grows and when you finish building it, when you have no more space to put anything. The only problem is the replayability of the game can suffer quickly: Yes, you can be hours and hours in one only city, but because of limitations you only get 5 maps to play in, and no random map generation like in the PC version. Scenarios are there but I prefer to just build my own city. They will give you an already built city which is going to suffer from some kind of incident (fires, alien attacks, the normal stuff) and you must achieve certain objective, like a total number of population and certain building is not destroyed. Depth: The depth of the game became an improvement of the prequel. You had more buildings, more complex transit system and the terrain was not just plain, you can even terraform the space to make it easier to expand your city. You require to place certain building thinking how far they can reach, so it would be as efficient as it can be. Transportation can get complex, as you need to build your city around it so people can get to work faster. Fir the city to grow you have to see what it wants not just what you wish to do (but you can manipulate the system to work as you want). The city will require and demand residential for people to live, commercial for profits and shopping and industrial for work, and what would grow in those zones depends on the demand and land value where is going to be built, so you must play to learn how to rise demand and land value. The most of both, the greater the expansion and the more money will be going towards the city funds. Just building stuff won't work, you still need to plan ahead and see you budget if tit is rentable to do. And the only way to do it is actually playing. You still need to get a feel of the game to know how it plays, not just a guide you found of the Internet, but they can help you getting started. Difficulty: As I said, the game needs to be played more than once to learn exactly how it works. It is not enough to just build stuff because that can take you from green to red in the first years of the game. The problem in this version is the controller. Every time you build something you have 1 second of load time to pass so the game starts running again because of hardware limitations. The menus are kind of easy to learn as they have icons that show you what they do (a house for residential zone, some balloons for parks and plazas, a book for schools). There's a tutorial that teaches you the basics, but doesn't show you how density woks or how water systems affect your game, which are more advanced game mechanics that you find once you start playing. Overall: Maybe it's not the best port to exist ever, but it is decent for the kind of game it is. You actually get to build a city as if you were playing the PC version, but with less map variation and lag issues when you try to scroll through the map. It is, in fact a good game to enjoy one evening if you want to build your little city filled with Sims, which I might do before the exam I have in a few hours (what, you have to study for exam? You crazy). You feel good when you manage to build a good city and even with the system limitations you can get far in the game and manage to build a big metropolis... and it has bigger maps than Simcity 2013. Here in Chile we started classes already. This was my first week of classes of this year, and because I'm studying Psychology it means a lot of reading for the next week (I love reading, but they give me a lot of work). So, this first weekend is a must rest. I must say, it was great to see my friends from the campus again (a lot of us worked, so we didn't have so much time to go out), but the best part was meeting a cute girl that loves video games in the computers room :3. It was a nice week because It has been a long time since I was outside of my house to go with a friend for a walk. Today I went out with a friend because she wanted to buy clothes for a cosplay. The week has been great, and the weekend will be nice to rest, even if I don't have any great plan for it. So, how have been the your week so far? I have some friends that I know I can trust, I can talk with them when I need it, we share stuff, play video games and have fun anytime we can. It's always good to have someone like that close, people you can relay on. |

My bedroom is apart from the house, and I have a part of the front yard of my house. I see a lot of trees, some junk that gets here (the house is part of a recycling center which is in the back), and cats, a lot of cats... I believe they are planning something o.o |

So, have you ever heard of Twitch Plays Pokémon? If not, then let me explain. There are some games that have been on my list for too long. I don't know why I can't finish them, and sometimes is just because I am so stupid that I forgot to make a backup of the saved games when I play on emulator. Other times you just don't have time or you don't give them enough. For example, I've never finished a Fire Emblem game, and I find it is a great game. The last time I advanced in one of these my save file went corrupted and I don't know exactly why. I have to play too the Mother games, the three of them, but this one I'm already playing the first one and it is good. I don't know why it is kind of hard sometimes to finish a good game or why luck can be so annoying to the point it damages your games. The other time I just got a Gengar on a Pokémon game, tried to pass the game from my cell phone to my tablet to continue playing there and the saved game just disappeared, with no trace left. There are others, like the classic Final Fantasy games apart from 1 and 6. Golden Sun 3 which I only gave it a look on the start of the game. I have to finish too Super Robot Taisen OG 1 and 2, and J. And Persona 4, but I already saw the end of the game, I watched the anime because I thought I wasn't going to play it in a long time, and when I finished to watch I got my PS2 ![]() Anyone else has any game on his list that have been there for too long? These are the I wanna be for the Mario World Hacking universe. They are supposed to be extremely difficult and only knowing about glitches and other stuff you'll be able to pull off something in the game. I went to Youtube when I saw your review and searched for TAS videos of this hackrom. With precise button pressing you can complete this game in HALF AN HOUR. Obviously, you must know everything about the same game to achieve this. greenluigi : You have seen nothing. I went to Youtube when I saw your review and searched for TAS videos of this hackrom. Harvest Moon is one of my favorite game series of all times. But it was the 64 that made me fall in love with the farming simulation. Way better than the newer simulation games for the pc, or those that you can find on Facebook. Graphics 9 Don't expect something like a Conker's Bad Fur Day graphics for this score. It deserves it because hey are how they should be. The game shows 3D environments with 2D pre-rendered cute sprites for every character, item and animal, and other stuff. They look cute, as they have to be. It was a nice jump from the 16-bits graphics, as they look more detailed and have more animations, even sprites that show you the face of the character when you talk to them. These were the graphics the game needed. But is better to notice the differences between the seasons, when you farm is full of snow and completely white. Sound 9 I must say this: I love the music and sounds of the game. The music is enjoyable, changing every season. When you are new to the game, you should be asking yourself on the last day of the month "how will be the next season's theme". I love listening to my cows, sheep, chickens, horse and dog when they make their respective sounds. Addictiveness 10 Easy as that, I've played many times Harvest Moon 64. I will make you picture this: You get the ending, where you get information about how good you did and in what you needed to do more. You enjoyed so much the game and you say to yourself: "I can do it better this time". That's me, and then I find myself searching for information on how to improve my game. And for the record, this is the kind of game you say "5 minutes more", and then you find yourself 2 hours later asking to you why you didn't do your homework first. Story 8 The game premise is simple, and it is shown on the game's intro, just like in the SNES version. Your grandfather died and his farm hasn't been cared for too much. You decided to take the farm going once and then the game begins. But that's not the only story, While you make friends and woo a girl, you'll start discovering their stories, you can even see romance going on between characters. Everything opens to you as you play and you notice every character own personality nicely represented. Depth 10 Wait, how a game about farming can have a 10 on depth? Easy, you are not just farming in this game. Harvest Moon 64 is part social simulation, so you can go and try to become friends with the town folk, even get married, have a kid and be a good father and husband. The game is deep at some points, every character has their own favorite things, and others they hate, and discovering them can be tricky, because if you give them something they don't like, they'll hate you ![]() You have collectibles too, find all the recipes (which you can't cook, but are necessary for a perfect ending ¬¬) , photos through events and power berries that will make you stronger, allowing you to last longer in work. Difficulty 6 Harvest Moon is not a hard game. In fact, you can make it as challenging as you want. I can say that after seeing people trying to achieve a perfect ending, which is hard and you require every second the days lasts in the game. If you want to take it at your own peace, it's not a difficult game at all, but there are some problems here and there. The main problem is the time you have in one day. Sometimes doesn't seem to be enough, you can finish a week in one hour or less, which is fast. The second problem is how some of the animals work. This was fixed on later installments as you can pass through or jump over the animals, which could get you to some frustrating... STUPID HORSE, GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!! (Resetting the game because I got stuck situation). The last one is that it is easy to fail where you are trying to do something, making it a waste of resources because if you try to give something to someone you might throw to the ground and loose it because it is difficult to know if you are on the right position.. or he just moved when you pressed A ![]() Overall 9 I don't think Harvest Moon 64 is a must play for HM fans. I believe it is THE Must Play Harvest Moon of the series. It's nice, even with some problem there and here that can get frustrating but are really easy to fix (Really, you can avoid them easily). It's fun to play, it is nice to talk to the character's personalities and fun fearing you rival in love would get married with the girl you are trying to give the Blue Feather to marry. Just take you hoe and watering can, because it's time to grow some turnip!. I will say this because the GC came into the topic. I like the PS2, it has some of the greatest games I've played. BUT, Gamecube had better hardware. I just don't know what went wrong with the Gamecube, but if you see a comparison between games that came out on both consoles the GC has better graphics and loading times. Well, even that way, PS2 has some of the nice games that didn't go to Nintendo, like the Final Fantasy games. I still play the PS2, trying to play those games I never played in the past ![]() Well, even that way, PS2 has some of the nice games that didn't go to Nintendo, like the Final Fantasy games. Well, I've been thinking about this for a while. The story would be a combination between fantasy and investigation. The plot would go around a series of world connected through magical portals called "The Crossing". This connection allowed commerce, political agreements and tourism, allowing people from different races to interact with each other. The story wouldn't go around a war between worlds, but wars between organizations that are created thanks to people with similar reality vision and how the civilizations should move. Many of these work as mercenaries for nations that they believe think how they should. Some others work for themselves, and the antagonistic organization is one that follows a god that controls the destinies of people and goes against the creator of the various races and worlds of "The Crossing". The story would go around a boy that lives in Valparaiso, Chile, called Isaac. He is a 16 years old orphan, he lives alone on a building which he doesn't pay while he is studying. From one day to another, he finds himself in the middle of a war that started many centuries ago, but he was always part of it, because he is the only one that can finish it for the bad. He is the only one that can enter an special kind of "Trance", a capability that some people can achieve to increase strength and magic power, which allows him to use demonic powers and transform into one. Without knowing what to do, he joins an organization that offers him protection and promises to help him find answers about his power and how to control it, so he doesn't cause a purge that would destroy every civilization that is connected to The Crossing. In the course he would doubt on who to thrust and will have to find answers of what is going on and why, trying to discover about his past and how his life changed one day on a weird traffic accident. That's the basic of it. When I went trough how the story would develop, it was so complex that it would take a lot to write, and would be separated in parts. The first part would go around two stones that appeared one day in Valparaiso, which would allow to whoever learns how to se them would call Ten Ten-Vilu an Caí Caí-Vilu, a local myth from Chiloe at the southern regions of Chile that talks about how the southern geography was formed. I will use many local myths from here, as I would like to see an anime with them ![]() The story would be a combination between fantasy and investigation. Eirinn : It would be Friends of Mineral Town. It was the first one I played and the one that made me love Harvest Moon and search about it. It made me go and search for information every time I didn't understand something. The game sometimes fails to explain certain stuff, like chickens not needing any grass or food from the store when you leave them outside, making the work a little more easy. Thanks for the welcome, fellow farmer :3, I'm enjoying the site so far, so you'll see me in the discussion forum from time to time. FaithFighter : Persona 3-4, Shadow of the Colossus, Kingdom Hearts, FFXII... great games. And I like RPGs, but I prefer when I don't have any clue on what I could find next and have to find my way. A reason for why I like randomizers ![]() ![]() |

endings : That's true. For some reason, the graphics from the older Harvest Moon games are better. I believe they should stick to 2D sprites and 3D environments, like in HM64 and Back to Nature. Those were nice. I can't say that the DS HMs graphics are bad, though, but they needed more work. That's true. For some reason, the graphics from the older Harvest Moon games are better.
