I recently finished a piece of art using pencil crayons and pencil and started using filters and other such interesting effects on photoshop.  So I was messing around, and this is what I came up with.  Hope you all enjoy.

AuraBlaze : The program I used to shade the first picture is still very new to me, but I understand what you're getting at, and I totally agree with you.  Yes, the second one is missing an eyebrow and I TOTALLY missed it until I had finished the whole picture.  Sometimes when I'm drawing, I'll miss something vital.  Your constructive criticism is much appreciated, btw, even if you're not an artist by nature!

Here's a pencil sketch I did this weekend.

starwars293 :   Thanks.  I think it took me about an hour.  I don't have a tablet, which makes the colouring and shading a bit of a challenge.

thing1 :   lol Thanks!  I'll make sure to tell you when I upload something here.

DARKANINE :   You mind telling me what the big flaws are?  I know I forgot to add an eyebrow on the super hero (I always miss SOMETHING), but I didn't realize it until after I finished the drawing.

Here's the latest.  I was trying to design a super hero (don't ask me why...).  I thought it turned out pretty well.

On3On :   Thanks!  I think it took me about a couple hours or so total to do this.  I don't have a tablet and have to use a mouse (which kinda makes it challenging).  I started with a hand drawn sketch, then inked it, scanned it, and coloured it on the computer.  I'm probably gonna leave it as is because I'm pretty new to the paint program I was using.

Klutch :   Thanks for the feedback!  I used a program called paint tool sai, just a free download off the Internet.  The shadows took a REALLY long time.  I'm a self taught artist, so most of what you see is me having practiced for years.  I don't upload art onto this site much, but I do have an account with deviantart if you'd like to see more.  I upload a lot of rough sketches to there, some of which I'm not too proud of.    Here's the link if you're interested:  SugoiMe on Deviantart.

I'm pretty new to using paint tool sai.  The coolest thing about it is the bucket fill option.  Works really well.

Tell me what you think.  Should I have tempted to colour it?  I actually photocopied the outlined version onto printer paper just in case the shading didn't turn out right.

rcarter2 :   30 pages!  Ouch!  And I thought 18 was bad.

I have a 2 and a half hour lesson to teach tomorrow, a reading report due on Thursday, and two papers due next week.  I'm not looking forward to any of them.  I think the only thing I'm looking forward to is having to practice my flute for the three concerts coming up.

Yeah, essays are the worst.  I have to do a quiz on an essay on Tuesday and I'm not looking forward to it.  I don't like having to read essays on environmentalism in depth.

YourMajestyKen : Thanks for the feedback.  I actually don't do much still art at all.  I'm more of a cartoonist by nature, but I like many kinds of art and don't have a particular favourite.

I went to the riverside today and walked along the beach.  A bit of a ways down, I found this log sticking out of the side bank, so I went and perched on top of it like I was the queen of artsy everything (okay, maybe not like that, but you get the picture).  I normally suck at drawing anything related to scenery, but I was determined to make something work.

First, a kayaker went by:

Then, I noticed this stump/root/thing-a-ma-jigger to the right of me, so I tried as hard as I possibly could to draw that, too.

And there you have it.  That sums up my adventures for the day...oh, and I spent some time skipping rocks, a fond childhood past time.

I think this one's my favourite out of the three I noticed you painting.  Nice fixation of the triforce there.  I like how the sides just bleed into the background and make you focus on the finer details of her face.  Very well done!

rcarter2 : Ouch!  That sounds like a pain!  And I have a hard enough time doing reasonable lesson plans for my TESL practicum...I feel your pain.

Flibbith : Sometimes those small assignments can be a pain.  Last semester I had to do journals every week.  Sometimes you just don't want to talk about your feelings. lol  (Yeah, I drew that picture).

I'm procrastinating right now if you must know.  So since I have a lot of homework and I don't want to do it (there are probably a lot more people who don't want to do homework right now either), so I thought I'd post a thread about it?

So?  What homework do you have to do, or will you have to do, that you aren't looking forward to?  Which do you dread the most?

For me, I have a 10 page paper due this Friday comparing two philosophical perspectives on language related to metaphor and art.  I know, that's a mouthful, but hey, I have to do it.  The worst part is I haven't really started.
