Anyway, about this tournament...I've got my Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector and so I'm ready whenever. When we start it, we don't have to all play the same day, we can just have it so whoever yoru battling against, you 2 decide on a good time of the day or week to play and also make it so those 2 people play best 2 out of 3 or somethin and give them exactly a week to do their battle.

I'm still in the process of making movesets and training my Pokemon team, I'm struggling to prepare but I will definitely be ready within.... Err.... A couple weeks?

My USB-WiFi connector crapped out on my laptop so I have to wait for my dad to hook up our "new" desktop to get wifi again. My computer isn't very compatible with it but the new one should be. If not, I'm killing Bill Gates for Vista's unnecessarily large amount of security programs.

In any case, I am NOWHERE NEAR ready for the tournament. I need to get an Adamant version of a Pokemon, so I bred it and a Ditto. I NOW HAVE QUADRUPLES OF EVERY PERSONALITY AND QUINTUPLETS OF A FEW. I HAVE 0 ADAMANT. I SHALL NOW GO CRY AND CUT MYSELF.

Impish works almost as well; it raises defense instead of attack so you'd be cool if you focused EV's on atk, def, and sp. def. And I haven't gotten an adament one either. On another note, Vista isn't glitched like that. Bill Gates was just a tiny bit high on acid when he wrote the code for its security.

So what exactly is EV Training?

Certain Pokemon have certain strengths. When you beat a specific Pokemon, they give EV points which are added to the maximum stats the Pokemon you're training. This means you could have a Blissey with 700 HP, or a Golem with 300 Defense, depending on what stat you train.

Specific pokemon give different amounts of EV's to any one of the six stats (attack, defense, special attack, special defense, speed and HP), as do items like Carbos and Protein. People like to train different pokemon to get more EV's to specific stats depending on the pokemon's role in battle (sweeper, tank, etc.). Each pokemon can gain 510 EV's and a maximum of 252 per stat. For a list of pokemon that give specific EV's, I suggest using sites like gamefaqs.com.

Well I didn't want to write a 400-word post and go into huge detail so I settled with that. It got the basis of EV training and EV's in general.

Is EV Training even mentioned in the game? If it is, I don't remember it and I talk to everyone in the game...thought it's been quite a while since I've played the game now...

Well, it is and isn't. Pretty much, it's how real life works. It's the law of survival. You have 2 foxes and a wolf. The wolf eats foxes. The wolf is uber-fast. Now, the 2 foxes are different. They are exactly the same right now, but they are different. They both start running away as to not get eaten. The wolf catches Fox 1 and eats it. He continues to try and get Fox 2. Fox 2 almost got caught the first time, but runs away even faster after each encounter. He never manages to get Fox 2. Why? Because Fox 2 adapted. It noticed that without enough speed, it will die, so it adapted in some way to improve it's speed. Either by strengthening it's leg muscles or lowering it's body weight.

Same happens with Pokemon. For example, you fight a Tentacruel in Diamond/Pearl. It has a good Special Defense. So, since you killed it, your pokemon "Adapts" by getting 2 Special Defense EV's. Now, if I remember correctly, 4 EV's=1 Stat. So if you get 4 Spec Def EV's , thats 1 Special Defense stat. People use this to their advantage. By giving their pokemon access to only one or two EV's, they maximum those stats.
For example, Sweepers. Take a Attack Sweeper. A sweeper is designed to kill on the first shot but have crappy defense. So you maximize Attack and Speed by either giving it the item that raises Spd and Atk EV's, OR, train it at pokemon that give ATk and SPD Ev's. The latter is less costly, and if needed, I could give you a list of what and where to fight.

Maximum amount of EV's TOTAL is 510. Max for ONE STAT is 255.

You take things to literally. Besides, you didn't, as I said, go into huge detail. There's a lot missing about EV's for example: the vitamins, the berries that increase friendship. The vitamins, HP up, protein, iron, calcium, zinc and carbos, give 10 EV's to their respective stats. The berries reduce the EV's by an amount I don't yet know, but using 11 of them always reduces the EV's of their respective stats to zero. Also, wolves don't usually eat foxes. And I told you about Tentacruel so thanks for using my example.

So it's like Natural Selection...to the extreme, lol.
