starwars293 : I saw what you did and realize you had use my castlevania pics on my profiel and use it on your layout. I might use your pics maybe.

I was browsing through Bulbapedia for info while playing Platinum and noticed the picture for Marowak. I figured it might make a good layout so I started toying around with my picture program.

This is the end result. It's sitting in the Shop for 500 Viz.

The Marowak picture isn't very tall, so I left out the title so it will tile more nicely.
I'll use the Ignore feature so I don't spam my word experience from this post. I just want to see how it looks with a lot of text.

Another 500 Viz layout. I think this one is a lot nicer than the Marowak one. It certainly took more effort. I knew what I wanted, but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

These layouts look nicer with Fire Emblem characters. The Pokémon pictures are a lot wider than the Fire Emblem characters, so they don't fill up the whole post no matter what. Oh well

For anyone who doesn't know, when I say "Ignore," I mean I'm using a power that the mods have so that this post is excluded from my post experience. Basically, I get nothing for this. We use it primarily for dealing with spam.

BNuge : I definitely like the Lugia one more, just because the picture isn't pixelated. Very nice design, and it tiles quite nicely, too. Very nice!

I found a nice trick for tiling. I double the size of the picture, copy/paste the top and flip it, then resize it down to the original size. That way they'll line up when they repeat. It doesn't always look good after I resize it, but it came out pretty nice in this one. If you look closely near the bottom of the translucent Lugia, you might be able to notice the line across.

BNuge : What program do you do your editing in? If it's Photoshop or GIMP there's already a plugin that will do this.

BNuge : Nice layouts. I get what you did, even though I wouldn't be able to repeat it. That's a good way to make sure the layout tiles well.

Also, since when did mods have the power to make post experience 0? :V I don't remember that. Then again, we were still going by good old fashioned post count when I was a mod, and you're a global.

One last thing... This is the real reason I posted. What do you think of the new bg on my layout? The old one fried with that whole GoDaddy incident, so I had to find a new one... This one actually fits the format of the code better and is smaller in file size, although it's not quite as shiny and awesome looking as the old one.

Vizzed Ghostblood : Thanks. I had to restructure almost the entire code base to get the bg to be like that, but I think it was worth it. It looks nice like that, and I don't have to worry about tiling problems so much now. (People with a huge monitor will probably see a little bit of a dark bar to the extreme left though... The bg isn't THAT wide. )

Lazlo Falconi :

I actually use a program called Paint.net. It can produce results similar to GIMP, but the user interface is a lot more complicated in GIMP. Paint.net is easier and I'm used to it.

The Marowak layout was actually originally a real picture. I modified it so it would look a bit more cartoony to fit the Pokémon theme. It didn't work as well as I had hoped, so I'll stick with messing with colors.

I'm starting to feel bad for this. The light blue is actually harder to read. As it has already been put, that picture in the middle seems to be the issue. There isn't really anything you can do about that. Also, the text in the bottom bar (Castlevania and Percy Jackson Layout) is still too large. The second line falls into the next post.

So try reducing the font size in the bottom bar and try changing the middle picture. I can tell you want to use it, but it's not working.

Randomness. This is in the Shop for 100 Viz. I decided to try out using padding rather than br tags. The spacing for br tags seem to vary across browsers and I had to be particular with this one.

Does anyone know how I can have this image stretch horizontally to fit the page? I just feel like it would look better that way.

I tried playing around with it. I can get the words to go across... but not the image itself. You may want to make the image large enough to go all the way across, and then manipulate the text?

Either way, I like it.

That's what I do with a lot of my layouts, but if I did that then the minimize, maximize, and close buttons wouldn't be visible unless the page got stretched.

BNuge : Those pokemon layouts were sweet, they looked pretty good, but the Notepad layout was very cool. Its believable to be a notepad album. Good layouts.

Thanks. I just had to go back and make a quick fix. There were still a pair of br tags in the signature (so that the text didn't end too low). I removed those and added in sufficient padding. I may have to go back and redo some of my layouts now that I'm getting used to using padding.
