Pokemon White

Yin N Yang
Pokemon Black & White were the games that kickstarted the 5th generation of Pokemon. This was the first time since I started actively playing Pokemon that a whole new generation was released. I live in Europe and at the time my level of English was just enough to have a general sense of where I had to go in my Pokemon Diamond game. I remember me and my friends seeing the first trailer that was released for the games and completely flipping out on the playground. Every week, two or so new Pokemon would be revealed and we would wait patiently every time to see what they looked like. Sandile was far and away my early favorite of the bunch. I also remember hating Watchog lol.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that these games hold a lot of nostalgia for me. Me and my friends were all Pokemon fans already but we got into the series at different times and this would be the first time we would all be at the starting line together.

Anyway, I think it's time to stop my sob story there before it gets out of hand. On to the game :)

Graphics - 10/10

These games were released at the tail end of the Nintendo DS's life span and it shows. The developers made sure that the 5th generation of Pokemon was going to finish off the DS saga with a bang. It was the first time a generation released onto the same console as the previous one so they made an extra effort to make it stand out from Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. The tileset and backgrounds look amazing. Whilst still being on a 2D console, the games look like an early draft of what 3D Pokemon could look like. There was an element of depth to the game and background and they messed around with camera angles throughout the region as well. This all culminates when you leave Pinwheel Forest to head to the big Castelia City and you get to see the stunning view and angles as you cross Skyarrow Bridge. Not to mention the cars that drive past you! Cars in Pokemon had been some kind of myt... Read the rest of this Review
Mario Kart Wii

Tricks, tricks, and more tricks
Mario Kart Wii is the 6th game in the Mario Kart franchise. The game was released for the Nintendo Wii in 2008 and is one of the most iconic games for the system. It introduced some welcome new quality of life changes and some new additions to the franchise as well.

While I probably have more total hours clocked into Mario Kart DS, my all time favorite has to be Mario Kart Wii. I’m just able to fully immerse myself into the game and the race, whereas with other Mario Kart games I’ve always felt more of a disconnect on that end. Not that they aren’t fun, but this is the only Mario Kart game where I feel like I’m the one actually racing.

Sadly, my Wii was taken away from me as a kid (something that I’m still not completely over) and I have only rarely been able to play the game since. I used to still bring it with me to a friend’s house, but now I can only play through emulators. Anyway, how does the game hold up today?

Graphics - 10/10

I’m sorry, what? You’re telling me this game came out only a few years after the DS one? I mean, sure, the Wii is a much more powerful console. The graphical capabilities are always going to be higher. Still, the difference is staggering. The game, more than anything, looks alive. The colors are vibrant, the water flows naturally, and the models are full of life as well. Not to mention the insane amount of creative and fun vehicles in the game. Cars and… bikes? BIKES! Yes, this game introduced bikes and they look fantastic.

The backgrounds for the tracks are also splendid. They do a great job of creating an atmosphere that amplifies the experience of racing through them. Some absolutely stunning examples include Maple Treeway, Coconut Mall, Koopa Cape, Toad’s Factory, and my personal favorite, Grumble Volcano.

Yet again the Mario Kart franchise delivers. I can’t stress enough how important a good ... Read the rest of this Review
Mario Kart DS

Be there or be Delfino Square
After being burned out recently by quite a lot of games I regularly play, I landed on Mario Kart DS. It had been one of my favorite games as a child, and one I have fond memories of playing in the backseat of the car while we were on the way to visit family. Not to mention the countless times me and my friends played it while we were staying over at each other’s houses, or even the rare occasion we were allowed to play at school.

Now as my eyes landed on the game I had waves of nostalgia come over me at once. But does the game withstand the test of time? Is it still as fun to play at night in my bed as it was all those years ago? I decided to give it a try.

And I was pleasantly surprised!

Graphics - 8/10

Look, the game was made for the DS, a console that has long since been outclassed and forgotten about. The graphical limitations at the time were way below what we would now consider standard or acceptable. Still, for a game released back in 2005 it holds up fairly well. And I believe it’s because of some design choices that were made. Back then most games on handheld systems avoided a reliance on models as they took up a lot of space and generally looked choppy and glitchy. Mario Kart DS tries minimizing that issue by keeping as much of the game in 2D as possible. Every item in the game, with the exception of the fake item box and the blue shell, is a 2D image that they just move around in all three dimensions. If you pay close attention to the green and red shells this is very noticeable. During gameplay this looks smooth and doesn’t hinder the experience whatsoever. The character and vehicle models were good at the time and don’t look too jarring today either, albeit a bit pixelated.

The courses look fantastic! This was the first Mario Kart title to add 4 new cups with 4 retro tracks each. These tracks are taken from past Mario Kart titles and updated to fit the look of the current game. The ... Read the rest of this Review
Super Mario Bros

WHY IS THERE A HAMMER BRO
Hello sexy gamers. Today I would like to chat about this abomination. I'm joking I actually like the game. It's the original Super Mario Bros. For the NES. Yes.

This is really the game that made Nintendo a giant. Mario is probably the best known video game character and franchise in the entire world and this game catapulted it all. It's the classic platformer game, the platformer of platformers. The ultimate platformer? Maybe. Perhaps.

Personally I haven't played it as much as other people probably have. Most of my experience comes from playing the game because of the Minecraft server competition in which we race through custom made scaled levels of Super Mario Bros. Practice I guess, or just trying to find the stupid patterns in teleport levels.

Graphics - 7/10

Look it's the NES. The graphics are definitely not bad. Despite its age the game isn't jarring to look at, it has a very retro look to it now that sees enough appreciation. However to call it an artistic masterpiece seems a bit far fetched. It gets the job done, the pallets work well for the stages they're used for. There's a grassy pallet, a cave pallet, a water pallet, a sky pallet and a castle pallet. With only 4 levels in each world that is all you need to have every level look unique. The core of the game lies in the gameplay itself though. Stunning graphics would only distract the player when playing a platformer. I have minor complaints. The sprites don't overlap with the hitboxes of entities, so it's often hard to judge if you're going to kill an enemy or get hurt. Also the hammers that hammer bros throw can sometimes literally be invisible to the naked eye. That or I'm blind.

Sound - 9/10

I love the sounds for this game. Very 8bit, very oldschool, very fitting. The classic mario tunes for damage, death, swimming etc all originate here. Again the sound isn't the main focus of this game. They didn't go crazy with it but it's very addict... Read the rest of this Review
Among Us

RED SUS
Hey sexy gamers, back again from the dead to give you a fun little review of a game I enjoy thoroughly, Among Us. It's been around for quite some years but only recently saw a lot of popularity and growth, and is now one of the most well known games out there.

The premise is simple, whodunit? Among the 10 of you, two will be randomly selected as the murderers or 'Imposters' after which their task is to secretly kill all the other players. It is the normal players' mission to find and vote off the imposters. This format is tried and true and has appeared many times already, but the charming style of Among Us really made it stand out among the crowds.

Graphics - 10/10

Speaking of style, the graphics for Among Us are perfect. The chubby little astronauts you play as are ridiculously cute and will seriously make you want to pinch their little cheeks. They offer you like 12 color schemes too so you can play as your favorite one (I love the red one). The maps have a lot of detail added to them that make them stand out, and although not much visual action takes place, that kind of adds to the charm too. You're walking around this silent spacecraft trying to repair it by completing tasks, all of which are neatly drawn and look realistic but true to the art style. In particular I think the wires and the trash tasks are super well done. Maybe not the leaf one...

Sound - 6/10

I mean I'll be honest there's not much sound to this game. The menu song is very repetitive and just adds a little mystery to the atmosphere, and throughout the maps theres barely any noises, aside from your footsteps and the tasks you're doing. And let's not talk about the sound that plays when you fail the card swipe for the 20th time in a row.

Addictive - 9/10

This game is one of those that you play with friends and after every round you always go "one more game". I think the simplicity of the format really allows for a... Read the rest of this Review

Important Trainers & Wally
Hey y’all! In this fun guide I’m just going to go over some important fights in the game, including rival battles, Gym Leaders, evil team admins, and the Elite Four. With most fights I will also include a few recommended Pokemon in case you’re still struggling with the fight. Please take into account that I’m not telling you what to use, as I personally enjoy the more underrated and weaker Pokemon more as well. This is just telling you what Pokemon on paper has the best matchup. Colored text indicates what starter you chose, so green text would be for the people who chose Treecko.

Let’s get started!

Bendan / May #1 (Route 103)

[green]Torchic (Level 5)

Scratch

[red]Mudkip (Level 5)

Tackle

Suggestion #1

Your starter. I mean you don’t really have a choice here as Pokeballs aren’t available to you just yet. Since May’s starter doesn’t have an elemental move yet all you can really do is spam Tackle, Scratch or Pound until you win. I recommend leveling up to level 6 at least in the wild so you have the advantage, or else you might be forced to use your potion.

Gym Leader #1, Roxanne (Rustboro City Gym)

The next challenger you’ll face is Roxanne, your first gym leader who specializes in Rock types. You might think Rock types are easy pickings, but don’t underestimate her. Unlike Brock she actually tends to use Rock type attacks, which can deal supper effective damage to a big amount of the early game Pokemon.

Geodude (Rock and Ground type; Level 12)

Rock Tomb
Rock Throw
Tackle
Defense Curl

Pokemon Emerald - Location Guide
Hey all! This is a guide showing you what Pokemon can be caught in what area, in chronological order of beating the game! Alongside the generic list of Pokemon I’ve also put in my own opinions and recommendations should you be unsure of what to add to your team! Lastly, I won’t cover how to get all the Legendary Pokemon as there is a beautiful guide on that already that can be found hereEnjoy!
Route 101
Gift Pokemon - Treecko (Grass), Torchic (Fire, Fighting), or Mudkip (Water, Ground)
Any starter will help you out greatly during your adventure. Of the three Mudkip is considered the easiest option as its eventual typing gives it only one weakness. Torchic is the most offensive of the three but will need some team support to counter some of its weaknesses. Treecko will struggle early on due to its poor moveset. Once you get Leaf Blade around level 30 it will finally become useful.
Wild Pokemon - Wurmple (Bug, Flying/Poison), Poochyena (Dark), and Zigzagoon (Normal)
None of these are particularly powerful. Wurmple has two possible evolutions but they are determined by chance so you might have to catch a couple to get the one you want. I would recommend catching a Zigzagoon for later on. It has the ability Pick-Up which allows it to find items after almost every battle, and they can range from regular potions to rare candies if you’re lucky.
Oldale Town
There are no Pokemon available here!
Route 103
Wild Pokemon - Poochyena (Dark), Zigzagoon (Normal), and Wingull (Water, Flying)
In the grass you will find one new face, namely Wingull. At this point in the game it’s not a bad option for your team if your starter is Torchic or Treecko as it covers some of their weaknesses. Still, it will be fairly underwhelming later on and I recommend getting a better water type.

Paper Mario: Boss Guide
Hello and welcome to my Paper Mario Boss guide! This guide will show you everything you want to know from bosses, from
hp, to attacks, to strategies! Sometimes there are boss fights between chapters; I’ll add those to the chapter before them.
So, let’s get started.

===========================
Prologue: A Plea from the Stars
===========================

~ Bowser ~

Once Mario finds Peach in the hallways, the castle gets lifted up in the sky, and Bowser will smash through the window.
He will challenge you to a fight.

His HP is sadly unknown, he has a defense of 0 (meaning he won’t cut down the power of your attacks) and an attack power
of 1 (meaning he’ll do 1 damage with each attack).

Not much strategy involved, all you can do is jump, which deals 1 damage to bowser.
His attack is scratching Mario, which also deals 1 damage.

This goes on for about three turns, on the fourth turn, bowser will use the star rod he stole,
to increase his defense to at least 1, and his attack power to 3.

You will notice that with the defense, you can’t damage him, and he does 3 damage for each hit.
This goes on until Mario has 1 heart left. You will once again do no damage, and bowser will use a new
attack, spitting flames at you that deal 10 damage, fainting Mario.
Don’t worry, you are scripted to lose that fight.

~ Jr. Troopa ~

Once Mario and Goompa find the hammer and head back, an angry Koopa, covered in its shell,
will challenge them to a fight.

Jr. Troopa has a total HP of five, an attack of 1, and a defense of 0.

He attacks by jumping on Mario.

There is also no tactic involved in this fight. Just jump or hammer, and he eventually will fall.

~ The Goomba Bros ~

Once Mario and his new partn... Read the rest of this Guide

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Are you stuck? Have you failed to find the truth, and want to look up something really quick?
Now’s your chance! I can’t stop you from just playing the game along with this, but it’s more fun not to.
I’m not explaining the cut-scenes, unless you have to point something out.

I will be playing the game as I make this series of walkthroughs to be able to provide
screenshots when needed. I’m not explaining all the dialogs, as I’m assuming
you’re at least playing along with this, so you can read them for yourself.
Plus it would be hard to find something here and hard to organize it on my part.

Anyway, let’s get started.

====================================
~ TRIAL ONE: THE FIRST TURNABOUT ~
====================================

Since this is the first case, I’ll explain some things.
Right after the cut-scene, you’ll find
yourself in a court lobby. As you go on with the dialog, you’ll see this ‘court
record’ button:

Press it and this screen will open:

This list will grow as we continue.
You can always click the court record button during conversations and have another look
at evidence. You can click the profile button, which is located in the same
place the court record button was, and it will take you to a similar list. Only
in this list you will find information on those involved in the case. That’s
all you can do there for now.

Moving on.
We are now in court. In the mini cut-scene
you can see the overlook of the room really quick. That’s where you’ll be standing.
Now since this is your first trial, the
Judge will ask you some questions, to see if you are ready. Don’t worry, one
look at that court record can answer everything.
