Detail is EverythingHello I am MechaMento and I am focusing on the racing simulation masterpiece Forza Motorsport 4. When I was building up my videogame collection on the Video Game Room I was going through floods of memories of games I love. When I set up my 3DS to take a picture of my Forza Motorsport 4 case it reminded me the days where I would be rather addicted. So that brings me here where I can share my experiences and opinions with you with one and one topic only. Forza Motorsport 4.
Why I Played ThisWhen I first got my Xbox 360, which was only 2 or 3 years ago, it came with a bundle including the previous title Forza Motorsport 3. I loved that game to bits, I had an unstoppable addiction! The game may be going around a race track a few times and then doing it again but on a different circuit, but there was something special about this as is Forza Motorsport 4. So after a year of owning the game, and playing it everyday, the European release of Forza Motorsport 4 was rapidly approaching so that game was preserved for the top of my birthday wishlist! From that I have loved it since the first day I brought it and I still play it now, so from here onwards this is where the real reviewing begins!
GraphicsTurn 10 are one of those companies that will not put up with a single pixel out of place. The amount of hours, detail and effort that was put in to developing every single car is astonishing. The Auto-Vista mode is described as HHD visual quality. For those of you who have not played Forza Motorsport 4, Auto-Vista mode is almost like a car gallery. You
select one of the 25 cars (not including DLC and Easter Eggs) and look around it any way you like. You can open all of the bonnets, go inside the car and listen to interesting facts about the car voiced by Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson. The Auto-Vista may have boosted graphics and looks a lot slicker than any other game mode yet that does not stop the actual racing from looking beautiful.
The environment of the circuit is complete to an amazing standard, the circuit "Maple Valley" in France really does look beautiful. Turn 10 were certainly not lazy on any of the cars either, they were completed and completed to work the console hard (so much that it can freeze my Xbox 360 if I have been playing it for too long). Even the cars that everyone hates, like the Nissan Micra, are made to look real and real is what Turn 10 want. One of Turn 10's aims and quotes was to "Turn car fans into to gamers and also turn gamers into car fans." so they need to get the game to a real life setting the best they can (also with out blowing up the Xbox 360).
SoundAgain alike to the graphics Turn 10 want their sound engine to be perfect. How did they do? Fantastic! Every single engine has their own personality. A Jaguar engine will sound different to a Ferrari engine, as would I make a similar example with two different manufacturers. Turn 10 did not just settle there. Turn 10 wanted every sound to be crisp and smooth for the player to have a realistic experience. I do not want to sound big headed and braggy but I own a surround sound device and playing Forza Motorsport 4 with the speakers active really is a treat!
The Car engine quality and personality is not where the good sound stops. Turn 10 have a good list of tracks and a decent taste of music. I personally like the Music even though the genres are very similar and it does not include anything from my favourite artists The Chemical Brothers (you will have to wait until Forza Horizon for that though). I actually find my self stamping my feet while driving and there was a point where I went into the game settings to mute the car engine and only have the music playing!
Addictiveness and DepthThis is one of those games you can not put down, since there is so much this game can offer. After completing the long yet enjoyable Career mode there is Xbox Live online racing you can move onto. Competing against the world live is fun yet eventually you get bored, but wait! You can start playing rivals, where you compete against ghost data in competitive Challenges, tension building Time Trials. Also there are side modes like Auto-Vista, the Storefront and the Auction House. Hang on I forgot to mention there is many online game modes including Tag and Car Football (a spin-off of a challenge in an episode of Top Gear). This game I would never through away, even when I get Forza Motorsport 92 it will stay in my game collection for ever!
Review my ReviewIt is helpful to know what went well and what did not. I am wanting to always improve my reviews so please throw in any criticism. I will be happy with any response or tips, I do not judge any users!
Side notes:
