Jungle Hunt review for the Colecovision!Wow, this game is impressive. It looks far better then the Atari 2600 version and it looks very similar to the arcade game. The gameplay was still as good as ever and the stages change color in this version. If you liked the 2600 version of Jungle Hunt, then you are sure to love this one.
STORY: It is the same as the 2600 version. Sir Dudley Dashly's wife Penelope Dashly. Got kidnapped by a bunch of cannibals and they are going to cook her for their soup. Sir Dudley Dashly has to go and rescue her by going into the jungle and avoiding death caused by, crocodiles, pitfalls, boulder smashes, etc
GAMEPLAY: The gameplay is really fun and enjoyable. It will give anyone a good time and one of the best parts of the gameplay is how challenging the game is. Any player will have timeless fun with this game. I really like how fun it is to swing vine to vine, and how enjoyable it is to swim in a river packed with crocodiles, avoid boulders, and to jump over a couple of cannibals.
GRAPHICS: Like most arcade ports to Colecovision. The graphics resemble the arcade version very closely. It has vibrant colors, like the arcade, but it could have had the fancy parallax scrolling that the 2600 version had. All in all though the graphics are great and are good looking.
SOUND: There is not much to say about the sound. There's more sound effects and a better intro song then the 2600 version. That's all I have to say about the sound.
ADDICTIVENESS: This game is pretty addicting. Since the colors change in this one, you have satisfaction in beating every round. Even though it sounds ridiculous. It actually makes a difference on how addicting the game is.
DEPTH: This game has 4 different areas. The first is where you have to swing vine to vine. The second is where you have to swim in an infested river full of crocodiles. The third is where you have to dodge boulders that vary in size. The final one is where you have to dodge 2 cannibals and save Penelope. As you progress through the rounds the game changes colors and extra things get added like heavy monkeys on the vines.
DIFFICULTY: If you thought, the 2600 version was easy. You'll think differently for this version. I actually had a difficult time beating the first round. There are 3 different difficulty settings, but I played the easiest and even that was hard.
