Help! Jockey! Help! Charger! TANKKKK!Imagine a zombie apocalypse where you're thrust into a wild fight to survive with three absolute strangers you know nothing about. Now, imagine if some of these zombies were "mutated" from a strain of the virus. Imagine fighting these things is your only hope. What? You know about that? Than congratulations, you're acquainted with the world of Left 4 Dead 2.
Graphics: 7/10
Keep in mind this game was released in 2009. For coming out in such a year, the graphics are not that bad. Honestly, they probably could have been better polished, but they were not awful. The graphics really built up suspense, the gray, stale atmosphere, and crazed looking undead running out at you from the distance were the graphics masterful doing. However, graphical glitching, such as zombie arms through walls and the infamous Jockey face rendering in the back of an empty truck are really predictable letdowns.
Sound: 9/10
All horror games need to create an atmosphere, even if they seem as run and gun as Left 4 Dead. However, the creepy ambiance really seals the deal. You can hear the special infected in the background as well, especially the dreaded Witch. Her sobs are the last thing you want to hear, and could haunt the timid ones' nightmares. Mood struck well, Left 4 Dead 2, mood struck well.
Addictiveness: 10/10
This game is just one of those games you come back to. It's really unexplainable. I guess killing the special infected and blasting away at the limbs of the commons is just... Fun. Also, workshop support means awesome mods. So there's that. Tons of weapons is also pretty addicting... Oh well, we'll never know.
Story: 8/10
The story is somewhat generic on the surface: two groups of four strangers are thrown together and are forced to fight for their lives against the endless scourge of infected that wage against them. They are always fighting to a brief escape, whether it be a safe room or a helicopter (which is inevitably taken out). However, that's just the surface. In fact, they even have comics and a wiki dedicated to the story. I rate it 8 for the fact that you do have to do a bit of digging to get the full story.
Depth: 7/10
This game offers quite a bit of content, without counting the custom maps. Whether it be a fogged up swamp, or an abandoned wedding reception (with a Witch. That you can't avoid. Great.), you really can't tire of the map diversity. However, once you learn all the special infected spawns and whatnot, you kind of have to download some custom maps, or else it'll get boring quick.
Difficulty: 7/10
This game could potentially be one of the easiest you've ever played. It could also become a nightmare. Really, it depends on the quality of your team mates and their ability to help you and co-operate. The same goes for you --- be that guy that gives the meds to someone with less help. That person might just help you when you need it most.
Overall: 6.8
For a game of its' time, and even now, I could recommend it. In fact, its lack of polish sometimes adds to its charm.
