Agree to disagree.

Opinions are like rear ends.... everyone has one at they usually stink.

I don't want you to hold back you opinions, because that's what these discussion boards are about.

Nothing said here is taken personally. At least on my end.

The "Waaah" stuff was not directed personally. It was my interpretation of what people in America sound like as of late. It sickens me.

My 2 cents.

"Waaaaaaaah I'm left out!"

That's what it sounds like to me...

Clearly.

Leave it alone. Stop demanding hugs and acceptance from everyone. It won't happen.

It's in the pledge because it meant something. It still means something to me. You should not be offended because it's in there. If you don't care to say "under God", then don't say it. No one is twisting anyone's arm to do so.

That being said, IMHO as Americans, we are too damn sensitive. I have heard people whine and kvetch about such little things lately. Jeez. Do you think complaints like this happened during the great depression or the early 1940's? No, sir, they just charlie miked and prevailed.

Sassy has brought up good topics. Keep it up!

That wasn't my point.

When (and I say when) I have messed up in my life, done something wrong, etc, I accepted the results. I have done so my entire life.

I can say that I am fallible. I can say that I expect to get what I give.

What lesson is learned when you err with no result.

What lesson is learned when you KNOW something is against the law, yet you do that act and receive no punishment.

We all know that it is RARE INDEED that someone who is convicted of a crime, a FELONY no less, hasn't been in the business of committing crimes in the past.

It is not common  occurrence  that someone gets arrested and convicted of a felony after their first mistake. Usually, if you mess up that bad, you realize your mistake, plea to a misdemeanor, and take your lumps.

A Felony is a MAJOR crime. We're not talking about smoking weed (burning in public) or DWI (no injury). Felons are those convicted of crimes like RAPE, MURDER, SALE OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (don't start whining about legalization, that's for another topic...), BURGLARY, ASSAULT with SERIOUS PHYSICAL INJURY, etc...

This question was about FELONS LOSING THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE, not if I am without sin, which I am not. Not by a long shot.

I appreciate your view. We will agree to disagree.

Accountability.

Accountability.

Accountability.

Stop blaming others and making excuses.

YOU are responsible for your actions, no one else.

No they should not be allowed to vote. They have already shown that they have no regard for society. Why should they have the right, then, to decide on what the rest of civilized society gains, loses, etc...

My two cents.

I live in NYC.

I have lived in NYC my entire 44 years.

There are around 35,000 Police officers in NYC.

When you play the odds, there are going to be a few jerks in the mix.

Just like in any group of a large number.

So, yes, there will always be someone to f things up and take all the attention away from the good ones.

The media LOVES to blast cops. It sells papers. It gets people to watch their networks.

I have met cops who are the salt of the earth, would give you their last penny, last breath, and I have met cops who are complete jerks, unprofessional, morons.

I have met the same with teachers, firemen, utility workers, doctors, letter carriers, cabin stewards, atom splitters, and (insert career here).

Except, they don't increase TV ratings or give Al Sharpton (Tawana Brawley, Al...) attention when they act irresponsibly, unprofessionally or illegally.

So, remember. When dealing with large numbers of people, there's going to be meatheads in the mix somewhere. Not everyone is bad because they're Blue.

Because that'd be stereotyping people, wouldn't it? You don't want to be stereotyped because you're (fill in the blank), do you?

Regarding Atheism:

I don't think that anyone should hold anyone else's personal beliefs against them, regardless of their beliefs. If you choose not to believe in something, that's on you. You have to put your head on your pillow every night. If you think that your beliefs are correct, good for you! I wish you nothing but good things in this life.

Regarding Religion:

I don't think that anyone should hold anyone else's personal beliefs against them, regardless of their beliefs. If you choose to believe in a supreme being(s), that's on you. You have to put your head on your pillow every night. If you think that your beliefs are correct, good for you! I wish you nothing but good things in this life.

Here's the rub.

When people start pushing their opinions, beliefs, morals(?) on anyone not believing what THEY believe, well then they're dead wrong. Maybe not wrong in their beliefs (NOT ONE of us will know that until we're dead), BUT WRONG IN THEIR BULLYING THEIR POSITION!

Who are you to tell me that I'm wrong? Why is it so occupyingly  offensive to you that I believe what I believe? So much so that you're going to begrudge me, shun me, get angry, call me names, harass, threaten violence , attempt to take my life (bring your lunch, kid... it'll be a long day for ya...) ????

My bottom line here, is believe what you want. Believe in whatever makes you happy. Whatever makes you sleep well at night. BUT keep your opinions to yourself if you can't accept what someone else believes. Christian, Agnostic, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, Head of lettuce worshiper, whatever you choose to believe or DON'T believe.

In America, men and women throughout our history DIED to protect the right to believe anything you want. Respect them like you would yourselves. Respect the beliefs of others. You sure as hell don't have to agree with them. But who are you to push anything onto anyone else?

Yes, I was raised in my faith. Yes I believe in God. That's my opinion, my belief, my faith.

You don't like it? Tough rocks.

I respect what you believe. I always have and always will.

Violence is just another part of our nature.

Some folks are more drawn to it than others, just like some people like butter pecan ice cream at Baskin Robbins. That's why there's 31 + flavors.

Personally, I have never been a fan of violent movies, unless they are based on history. War movies about specific events, pivotal battles, etc.
I don't care for violent horror movies at all. I have seen more than enough cruelty, horror and bloodshed in my life. That being said, my best friend LOVES all that over-violent, gory, bloody, "are you freaking kidding me" kind of violent movies. He can't explain why. He just digs it.

Bottom line is, just like everything else, there will always be a call for things that we just can't comprehend. It's just simple humanity, for better or worse.

My two cents.

And I don't care for butter pecan ice cream, either.

Hi all!

Name's Eddie from NYC. I'm in my 40's and miss the heck out of playing those old Atari 800 games I used to load on cassette tapes. I stumbled upon this site and almost did a backflip when I saw what kind of place this was. I don't get on the computer as much as I like to (life gets in the way of life!) but I'm looking forward to hanging out here in my rarely available spare time.

Hope to meet you all in the forums!
