Hello and welcome to General OFG's Super Mario 64 review

This is a long waited review for me because it's one of the first N64 games that i have ever played and its in fine shape to today's standards. So before i start i want to point out that this game has aged pretty well over the past 18 years so of course it might have some glitches or the graphics look like cardboard but for its time the graphics where pretty dang good. So lets get started with my review of Super Mario 64.


So starting off we start up our game with a 3D Mario face and you can mess around with it or start up your game. Starting up your game you have save files that are empty at first when you start up one of the files the game begins with a cut scene where Princess Peach sends Mario a letter to come eat some cake she made and thus your adventure begins. When you start playing the graphics may look like some cardboard that has been painted over the game has aged pretty well so its easy to expect that. The game play is smooth the camera angles are not the best and playing on a keyboard is harder due to this game being designed for a analog stick. I really don't care about the graphic but since the game has aged i will give the graphics a <4> for a rating.


This game has some great sound effects and don't make me mention the music its really good. The sounds you hear in the background like birds chirping and water flowing it sound beautiful and soothing. The sound effects for getting hurt, enemies making sounds, going underwater, etc sound really good. Now let's get into the music the music sounds amazing for a Mario game like Peaches castle, boss battles, levels, and the main theme sound really good this is why i'm giving it the rating of <10>.


This game never gets boring its really fun of course it's a 3D Mario game it's amazing. So what makes the game grab the players attention is the soundtrack i need to put the game on full volume to make the game experience 10x better. Also the countless hours of fun exploring a 3D Mario world is a never ending adventure. The boss battles make you want to play the game more and the closer you get to the end the more intense it is really addicting. I can say that it has amazing level designs from grassy plains to a scary castle that's what makes this game amazing i will give the addictivenes a <10>.


The story line is the same Bowser always steals the princes and Mario needs to save her the story couldv'e been better but that doesn't make the game bad since it's so good.there is really nothing else to say about the story because it's self explanatory.


The depth of the game goes some were here its a 3D world to explore how much better can it get. i spent countless hours playing this game due to the story thinking about it makes me want to play it right now. The game is really long it will take about 3 or 4 days to beat as standard mostly it took me a week because i am slow at playing some times. You can never get enough of this game and you wont regret playing this. So the rating for this game i will give it a <9>.


The difficulty for this game is fairly decent but it gets harder sometimes especially if you are using a keyboard. I could have some tough times and challenges but it makes the game much better. I fairly think this game is very easy the second time you play it so i will give this games difficulty a <7>.


Extras: This game has been a part of my childhood for a while now that is why it has a special place in my heart it's been a good review that took me about 30 minutes to write so thank you for reading this review and hopefully i will get rated on this.

So this game was a huge disappointment for me due that i'm a Crash Bandicoot fan since the early days for the PSX.

The graphics are alright for a GBA game they could have gone better due to the first GBA game having the same graphics. The only thing i find interesting is when you traveled other islands on a boat. Other than that the graphics are ok.

I can say the sound is alright too do to it's cheap sound effects but the soundtrack is great in most levels. i personally thought picking up orbs was interesting they have a nice soothing effect that sound good. Other than that i'll give the graphics a <6> the sounds aren't the best but the soundtrack is good.

Like i said this game is a disappointment so i can say the game play is terrible in a lot of cases all i can say is that if they wanted to make the game good they should have just kept the old character models, keep away the punching, kicking, and orbs keep it the way it was or make a slightly better version of the old ones. and i can say that this game barely brought any fun just boredom.

The story is terrible trust me it's your friend crunch and sister cocoa getting kidnapped and of course you save them like any other game or movie. the story is just bland i don't like it cortex isn't the same, a lot of characters changed models etc...

The depth of the game gets you nowhere the story is easy and short and boring and makes no sense. I beat the game in 2 days and it's probably the biggest waste of time.

Last but not least is the difficulty like i said it's easy you only find very few challenges the game is no fun at all they could have done better and kept everything the old way.




So here are the pros and cons lets start with the pros

PROS: Slightly graphically advanced, Better music, Has a nice background.

CONS: Worse story line, Bad designs, No challenges, Shorter campaign, Bad items, Horrible ending, No lovable characters.

Aku Aku got a bad redesign same with Uka Uka

Crash isn't the same anymore his redesign just makes him look like a different character, same thing with tini tiger.

Enemies are bland they are just overly mutated animals and there is probably only 6 of them in the whole entire game why cant there be more like the older games

Crash has a different personality he's not lovable anymore and just looks ugly.

Levels are bland short and boring.

The enemies are a slap i the face they are not even the same enemies we knew back then they tried to make photo realism versions of the characters that look really ugly and creepy.

Yes this is a Pokemon emerald review one of the best GBA games of all time and it's still in really good shape. I can play this game any time any day and it's really fun too. I can give 6 good reasons why this game is so good and why you should play it.

When I look at the graphics it amazes me how far the game has come from the older series. The graphics are pretty good and it just makes you want to play more it has beautiful sprites textures colors backgrounds everything is good. Although there where some GBA games that had better graphics this game still has a beautiful scenario. Another thing that makes this games graphics amazing are the cut scene where Groudon and Kyogre fight i think that looks amazing for a GBA Pokemon game and it's still amazing to today's standards and i cant wait what it will look like in the remakes of this game.

When somebody asks me what is my favorite game music is I say it's Pokemon emerald why? Well it's because of the beautiful music you hear when you are traveling through the vast lands and battling other people i can say it's one of the best sound tracks for gaming. This game has amazing sound effects going through a storm a battle every thing makes this game amazing so that is why it makes the top spot.

I can never stop playing this game sometimes because of it's addictiveness it's really fun to explore,battle etc. But what makes this game good is the system link battle and trading i would always bring my GBA to school or my friends house just to trade pokemon or battle. This game is really addictive and fun so it deserves a play.

The story for this game is the same as all games it's a 10 year old boy trying to become a Pokemon trainer to become the very best and beating the elite four. But this game is a little changed up because you have 2 rivals 2 enemy teams which you figure out they are not actually bad. Also this game has more lovable characters like your 2 rivals your dad and more. More characters have a back story in this game which makes it better then the older gen games because of the depth which we are going to get into soon here.

So the depth the game longer than the older games the region is bigger gyms are less common and slightly harder in some cases. The elite four is also harder. This game would take you about a week to beat if you play it every day for me it took me 2 and a half weeks and I found some challenges too which makes the game of course longer. I found no problem with the depth because they added everything i wanted upset exploring different regions.

Now we are at our last point which of course is the difficulty of the game i find all the Pokemon games fairly easy but this game brings it to a new level. The gym leaders in this game have more of a challenge and the elite four is really hard. I find having more rivals, harder gym leaders, and 2 enemy teams a challenge sometimes but that makes the game good from the others it give you more play time and more of a challenge. 



So this was my review for Pokemon emerald i find this game to be the best in the series right next to gold and silver but I will get into that a different time
