This is my first Pokémon game of Generation II of the series. I'm not sure if anyone would prefer Gold, Silver, or even Crystal, but all of them are great games to play! In my opinion, this is probably the best Pokémon games ever created for the Nintendo Game Boy. The graphics are traffic and the sound is good too. This game is addictive to me! I've probably played it about 10 times and I still love this game! I can play it over and over again, but not too much though. I would play it like every week or two. Well that's about it for the addictiveness. Now for the story. The story is the same as the previous versions, but the character is different. It not Ash and Gary is not your rival anymore, but an evil Pokémon thief that stole a Pokémon from Professor Elm and you fight after he calls you about a an unidentified person that stole a Pokémon. The Pokémon League is pretty simple than the other versions all Pokémon range from Level: 40-50. Except for when you fight Blue and Red, they are much tougher! As far as the story goes the games are HUGE! there is a lot to do And all kinds of Pokémon to catch.
Unlike Red, Blue, and Yellow, Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal there are 251 species of Pokémon (there is 151 in the other versions).
You can't get them all unless you trade, but other than that, there are still plenty of Pokémon to catch. If you're not too interested in catching a lot of Pokémon, you can beat this game in matter of hours! But People who are true Pokémon Players can enjoy the game for days. When I play this game, I can beat in a few days. I like to enjoy the game while I play and I usually never get bored from it too much, unless I play it all day. Finally, Pokémon Gold can be difficult at times especially when you take part in the Bug Catching Contest every Tuesday and Thursday. You must catch the strongest Pokémon to get first place! It does have something to do with the level and health. For example, I caught a Scyther at Level: 14 with 48HP ( I think it was 48HP) , and I won the Sun Stone by coming in first place. But, I also kept reseting the game because I had problems with the contest. The hardest thing about the game is the leveling. It is always a good to start early!
After I choose my starter, I train it up to at least level 12. I usually catch a Pidgey and Geodude and train both to around level 15. Unfortunantly, You can't usually keep a lot of Pokémon you catch around the world because of the moves and stats. Also, you can only have six Pokémon with you. You will need at least two water type Pokémon or a one that can learn the new water type HM's that are featured in the game. Lastly, It is VERY important to keep the winners in the end, because it is crucial to go further easier. I always keep the legendary dogs in my party because they have some of the best stats in the game. HO-OH and Lugia are great too! Overall, Pokémon Gold is a 9.5, but a perfect 10 in my opinion because there always a flaw when it comes to Pokémon Gold and the games as well, That concludes my review, and my first.
