I've played all the games in this series and love it to bits. It's amazing how each case unravels itself as you progress through and how the gameplay and story are integrated.

Such a shame more games in this genre (Visual Novel) aren't more popular outside Japan because I really want to play more like it (any recommendations?).

My favourite types are RPGs and Strategy games, preferably a combination of those two genres like in the Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre series.

I have two sisters: one older and one twin (any other twins here?). As you can imagine, my twin sister and I are really close. I still get on well with my older sister, but not as well due to the six-year age gap, especially when we were kids!

My favourite Japanese band is One Ok Rock, who seem to have been getting very popular in Japan recently. However I also like L'Arc~en~Ciel, Uverworld and Asian Kung-Fu Generation too.

Well there are some channels around the world (e.g. The BBC) which don't have advertisements at all. In the UK a TV owner has to pay for a 'TV license', which is a yearly fee for watching (technically live) television that is supposed to cover the costs of the BBC's advertising.

Whilst having no advertisements does mean more actual television on the screen, paying money for something that could easily be free seems a bit of a rip-off. Plus as others have pointed out already, no adverts on television means that you aren't exposed to the things that would catch your interest during them- such as upcoming movies, music albums or even video games- that you would be less aware of otherwise. Plus you can always skip through channels whilst adverts are showing...

Another super review. I've actually just started playing this (about six hours in) and I agree with a lot of your points. Wish Europe had a lot more 'Tales' games released over here!

As the title says; I was wondering if people preferred seasonal anime series/OVA'S which finish in less than 25 episodes, or ongoing anime series like Naruto, Bleach etc which can go on for hundreds of episodes and seasons?

I'll admit I'm not that big an anime fan and haven't watched loads of series to pass proper judgement, but I do prefer a short series over a long one, because the stories avoid a lot of padding/filler while still telling a great story.

What do you guys think?

First anime was definitely Pokémon. To be honest, it was one of the few anime they showed on British terrestrial tv (stuff like Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon etc were on Toonami which we never received as a child).

First played Pokémon in 2001 when I was 8 or 9. It was Pokémon Silver and I had been watching my cousin play it and was eager to try it out myself. It wasn't until 2003 that I played my first proper game though (Sapphire).

If I'm listening to stuff through my laptop, then I will play it normally through the speakers or put my headphones on if I'm at home with my parents. If it's through my mp3 player then I will use my in-ear earbuds as they're best to listen with while walking or working.

The last game I beat was Xenoblade Chronicles...well over six months ago (though this is because I don't have much time to complete games whilst at university).

EvilAlu : Yes I got exposed to a lot of Japanese rock through anime/video game openings and movies. Sometimes it stuck, but most of the time it's the same type of song for each genre, really.

alexanyways : I've got into Kpop recently as well- any particular favourite songs or artists? Asian music must take up a good 55% of my music collection. How embarrassing...

I'm currently in my final year of studying classics (like ancient history, but with more focus on the languages i.e. latin and ancient greek). Then I plan to take a Masters and train as an Archivist and Records Manager so I can get a job in that field.

Just wondering if anybody had even a passing interest in Japanese or Korean (or even Mandarin/Cantonese) music bands or artists? If so, whom are your favourites? What is your favourite Jpop/Kpop song? How did you get into it? Do you feel the language barrier stops you from enjoying music from these countries (as an English speaker at least).

A excellent and well-balanced review. This game looks really good and I like both level 5 and Studio Ghibli films, but I've been a bit worried that the game wouldn't live up to the hype. Your review might make me reconsider buying this in the summer.
