As far as the story goes, I'd have to say Kefka from Final Fantasy VI...

Gameplay...I'd have to say that female you fight in Final Fantasy X....can't remember her name. You fight her in Zanarkand (spelling?), she was married to the first summoner...well heck she might be my favorite as far as story too.

From what I've read about people who actually use Cait Sith, he's a tank through most of the game.

Of course, eventually you start getting materia that makes any character unbalanced, but the point is that until that point he is your life-raft if you're having trouble until that point.
