I am in my second year of a degree in The Environment, which basically covers perceived Global Warming due to human activity. I hope to do something outside of the Environment when I graduate hahaha! I hope to do something outside of the Environment when I graduate hahaha! |

Last film I watched, a while ago now, was The Prestige, directed by Batman's Christopher Nolan, and starring Christian Bale and Michael Cane. Its a really good film, with a couple of shocking twists at the end. I wont give too much else away for those who haven't seen it... This is an excellent review of the game, and MI is one the reasons I came to Vizzed too. The part you say about wanting to push on to the end is the same as I felt when playing. You highlight all the flaws of the game, but point out the depth of this one makes it kinda unique. Overall, a spot on review. Goldeneye for the N64 crashes every time I am doing the "silo" mission and try to photograph the satellite. Would be awesome if it could be sorted. |

thenumberone : Yeah, tinfoil hats indeed, can't you come up with anything you havent read or saw within the media? I have no definitive answers. You expect me to satisfactorily answer all the questions? Clearly, the answers are a matter of your own personal perception. I'm sure no one can disagree with that... If you were to read between the lines of my posts, something that you wont be able to do whilst watching the latest film, or football game, is to see that EVERY person should make the effort to read about things that have happened historically, think about the whys, then cross reference this with other material etc. I do realise that not many people have the time to do it. I am fortunate in that way. Now, if you were to read the correct books, you would find, quite objectively, a recurring theme, or, philosophy running concurrent with the peoples who have occupied positions of authority, or celebrity. This is very hard to escape once you look a little further into the names and their belief systems. What conclusions you then draw, is of course up to yourself, but it gains nothing to be subjective when reading about history. I believe I have revealed nothing about myself other than I like games, I like to post and debate with others, and I like to read a lot, and think about why things change, and who benefits from the changes. You know, logical thinking. If I believe a pattern exists, it is because so many people tell you it does, in their own words. Sadly, these are often buried in boring books, fifty years old, that no one has the time or inclination to read. I have no definitive answers. Overall, River Raid is a splendid game, which utilizes the limited power capacity of the machine very well. A vertical scrolling dodge and shoot game, with fun sound effects, and very addictive game play. With the most basic of stories, you fly a jump jet on missions to destroy key bridges to stop the enemy supplying its forces, and not much more depth-wise, players are then strapped into the cockpit for what is ultimately an enjoyable experience. Nice graphics, and delightful sound effects, the re fuelling is one I remember from my childhood, coupled with a lay out that is difficult enough to catch you out until you learn the patterns of enemies makes for a game that you will come back to many times. Realising the restrictions upon graphics and sounds with the machine, the developers concentrated more on game play, using the environment to create narrow tunnels, which must be negotiated with care. The game is not too difficult, but certainly has its moments where concentration and good hand-eye co-ordination are needed. A technique to consider using is to keep the down direction held constantly, this slows the jet down and makes it slightly easier to shoot, dodge and refuel. I suspect you will fly over the fuel even when you have a full tank, such is the delight of the sound effect. This, along with Pitfall were my favourite games on this console, I was at the age when home computers were just coming out, but I remember going back to the Atari for this game. thenumberone Wow. Allowing a lot to be revealed there about you. Yep, you've swallowed it all very nicely, and give a good regurgitation (yet again) of what you've read. For you to explain what Arachnophobia is shows we are on different wavelengths. I was making a point which is still valid. Look, if all you guys want to just accept everything, and not question why and what things were like before, and who and why a perennial philosophy rears its head throughout history in different guises, just go right ahead. I make this prediction, and save it in your minds, because all of you will be accepting of it. According to Charles Galton Darwin (grandson of Charles) the next stage to mankind in the near future is to start to practice inter generational sex. To you and me, that means paedophilia, which Darwin actually had a name for (read the book The Next Million Years) and I hope you all enjoy watching that on your tv sets. By "most of the time", what you actually mean is the term the media has given you to use. That you use the word "crazy" along with it, rests my case on that point. Your history is somewhat off as well, you simply regurgitate the nonsense that is the history books. You touch upon something when you state that the winners always dictate what is recorded as history. The correct books will tell you who is a 'winner', and it always seems to be the same philosophy, generation after generation, regardless of the people whose names are recorded in history books. This alone should tell the sentient reader something. To address your Hitler point, look into who funded the Nazi Party into existence. If you are not waylaid by people spinning you off up into the heavens, you will find a link between Prescott Bush ( George W Bush's granddad) and the foreign policy he established to enable the funding. Then, if you have more than two minutes to spare, consider why this happened, perhaps look into the now declassified Operation Paperclip (thousands of Nazi scientists were given a free passage to the USA and housed and given employment for the US government), look at the founding principles of the Nazi Party (they were Socialist), maybe wonder why we are told we live in a socialist society today, ponder what socialism REALLY means, then, if you have time, link in Charles Darwin's social engineering tool ( survival of the fittest, natural selection) and see that it is a creed that asserts that better gened people have the right to rule over what they see as inferior gened commoners. To Darwin, God was dead, and within us all, we evolve to a higher consciousness (read his book Origin of the Species), then tie this in with the New Age movement, where God is a part of us all, everything is one, all must be accepted (this goes into the Humanitarian view here, where the actions of paedophiles etc is not their fault, it is in the DNA and a human behaviour, therefore it is acceptable, but I wont bore you with that) and you have a good view of why we are actually debating this issue. Nothing happens by chance. It is by design, and the boring history books tell you this clearly. You wont find it in CNN or the BBC, or any newspaper you read. There is no short cut to the reading. You have been taught well, through school and the media. Your views can be found in all the newspapers throughout the world. I don't come in from any angle, just the facts, and very fortunately for me, I have the free time to reason and ponder things through to a conclusion, something you do not have the benefit of, clearly. All I go by is history. Ask yourself, who defines progress? To what end? Change. but to what? And why? Do you think things happen by chance, or are designed that way? Think about it for more than five minutes. It is clear you have not read your history books, which I suggest you do. When you have, you will agree that the promotion of homosexuality is prevalent in toady's society. I refuse to let others do my thinking for me, and perhaps you should do the same. I am not American, but Scottish. Awake to me, at least, means thinking for myself. If you choose to use the medias technique of bracketing me into a certain group, it is your your own loss. I have read my history books, and can see the pattern. You have not, and regurgitate the opinion of others. Good for you. I have no real views on 9/11, for you to assume otherwise without asking reveals a quality of your character you may have preferred to kept hidden. Such a simple question, so complex the answer. Here goes...it was Plato who described the story of Err, who had been dead for 12 days, only to come back and proclaim of life after death. Since no one could replicate his experience, or be there with him as witness, faith was required to accept what he said. This is called revelation. Others, who didn't accept his account, still on the basis of faith as they couldn't be there to witness it, denied it (atheism) and thus two camps were established. Generally, at this time, it was accepted that a Creator existed. Aristotle then appeared, writing that the God was an "absent landlord", that yes, while there was a Creator who had set things in motion, he no longer was involved, and left his creation to its own. Later, Democritus established the Atomistic School of Philosophy in Greece, teaching that man was a sum of all things, and no Creator existed. This view pops its head up throughout history at various points, culminating in the Humanist movement we see today. In the 16th century, Rene Descartes promoted the idea that God is within each person, contrary to the popular and traditional view that there existed a Creator, whose perception was outside the human senses. God was reachable, and indeed within us. Two hundred years later, Charles Darwin was selected to promote the old idea of Evolution, further diminishing the power of a Creator. If man was just another animal... Thomas Huxley (Freemason) proclaimed that life was produced from non living matter. This has never been repeated in the history of mankind. One cannot get living organic material from non organic material. He claimed that at some random point in the Earths ancient past, DNA appeared at a specific location in time and space, and that RNA (which is a necessity for DNA to properly function) also appeared exactly at this time and space, to join with the DNA. The odds of this can be googled using "Richard Pembrose odds of evolution" Not one example has been reproduced of creating life from non life. This is forgotten in the discussions of fossil records etc. Ernst Heackel was such a fan of Darwin, that he invented a species of previously unknown bacteria that he THOUGHT should be at the base of evolution. Heackel was the first to conjure up the tree image of evolution. If one has and spends the time reading the correct books, the outcome is clear. Evolution exists only in the minds of some men. No concrete proof has ever been put forward for it, yet it is taught as fact in school. Evolution exists, but only is a localised sense, in that animals and plants will change some of there characteristics to suit their environment, to better enable their chances of survival. It should be called the Theory of Adaptation. The Earth should be littered with thousands of fossils of animals in the transition stage, yet not ONE has ever been found. Anything that has had so much money spent on its promotion without reasonable proof, and a fever that is in itself akin to a religion, should tell the sentient individual that something is amiss. Yeah. Going to opt for the non politically correct view here. Homosexuality is a deviancy, which simply means it is against the overwhelming preference of the entire population. Homosexuality was also categorised as a mental disease up until the 1970's ( google it), until its promotion served a greater purpose. To pre-empt those who suggest homophobia is present here, let me say this: it is any humans right to be disgusted by something. This is not a phobia. To categorise it as a phobia, and enshrine it in law, effectively means conditions like arachnophobia, and agoraphobia should also be illegal, and punishable in a court of law. It simply disgusts me, as is my right as a human being. Gay marriage is abhorrent, and the fact that society debates whether or not is should be allowed, spells disaster for the future of the human race. Whether it is admitted or not, the founding principle for the gay rights pressure groups is the destruction of the family unit. It has to be (google it). How exactly does that make you feel? I love my family and do not want it destructed whilst 4% of the population lobby for rights to do exactly this. I am in no way religious, just awake. A delightful boxing experience, Super Punch Out is a fine example of the boxing genre. Sporting lovely graphics and fine playability, Super Punch Out is, after two decades, still one of the best examples out there. Each opponent comes with their own set moves, which must be mastered before progressing. Even after learning your opponents moves, co-ordinating your reactions to actually dodge them in the heat of a fight is where the skill lies. After the game is completed, one is still prone to lose to any of the better opponents if not enough concentration is applied. Three tiers are available to work through, the Minor, Major and World divisions. Three opponents and the Champion await you. The game lacks some depth insomuch as there is not a Career Mode to speak of, which would've added some more layers to the game. However, it certainly doesn't stop ones enjoyment. The game excels in its use of viewpoint, which is where other games struggle, in my opinion. As a side note, the use of the counter punch, although sometimes difficult, is where the speed knock outs are achieved. I have knocked out many opponents inside thirty seconds or less (Gabby Jay is possible to KO in 9 seconds), and I believe there is a way to complete the game beating every opponent inside thirty seconds, using the counter punch and power punches. Overall, one of my favourite snes games, and a more satisfying boxing experience will not be found elsewhere. Three tiers are available to work through, the Minor, Major and World divisions. I'm Saunter. Ive been playing computer (not video ) games since they came out, all the way back to the Atari 2600. I'm thinking, all the newer games lack something when compared to the games found here in the Retro Room. Sure, they may look better, but doesn't one acquire games to play, rather than sit back and look at? I always preferred games that traded graphics for playability, and have lost many a month immersing myself into infinitely perpetual stream of games throughout my youth. Having said that, I consider myself a Master at all the usual Street fighter II and Killer Instinct type games. P.S. I see the creators of this site like to make newbies jump through many hoops, just to play their games. Maybe this could be modified in some way. Forcing newbies to 'spellcheck', for example, is a little insulting, in my opinion. |
