I'm playing Tomb Raider on the PS1, and the game freezes as I pull this lever in the 2nd level of the game. The level is supposed to open this door but I can't progress because the game freezes as soon as I pull the lever. Sonic Generations: Proving Sonic can still have good games. Colors I think is slightly better but Generations had longevity and a good game. On to GTA San Andreas |

I strongly dislike FNAF. That 5th night took me hours, HOURS to complete. When I finally did it was because at about 2:30 my switch on the right side got completely cut off but I figured out as long as I never check my cameras again, the guys would never come in even though it should have devoured me for having left the right door open the whole time for over 3 hours. So the rest of the time and watch the left side and closed whenever the blue guy peeked in and listened for the knocking caused by Foxy. The design is broken. I like new concepts and ideas in gaming. This one didn't work. I like new concepts and ideas in gaming. This one didn't work. |

This month I played Five Nights at Freddy's. I finished Dead Rising 2 yesterday, not a good game, was disappointed. Giving Katey her Zombrex is irritating. Glad that's over. I put in 90 hours of Payday 2 this month. It's better than the first. Now I'm playing Sonic Generations. It's a good game, yes a Sonic game, is good. They say Sonic has no good games but Generations is really good (though I don't recommend a keyboard). I think Colors is also good, and Secret Rings and Unleashed are both decent. Sonic gets too much hate. I'm almost 20 hours into Generations and I still have a lot left to do, challenges and whatnot. |

Deus Ex is awesomely terrible game I've ever played. This was game years ahead of its time yet had subpar visuals. It made innovative uses of augmentation but had horrible AI. It had an amazing story with some of the deepest and most detailed back stories of each group involved of all time, with 3 different endings (and though it was entirely based on the final level) that required real effort to obtain those endings. Yet, had convoluted enemy AI detection and poor stealth attempts despite the game being design with the intent of being able to sneak past all enemies and avoid all firefights. There was always multiple solutions to paths but some of those paths you take have ridiculous solutions at the end where it all came to down to needing to read a book or text log that despite being in plain sight was conveniently but at a really random spot! And keeping track of all the key codes to unlocking locked doors was a real pain. Being stuck and halted by your progress to a path because you lack the proper multitools / pick locks isn't any fun yet at the same there was always another path SOMEWHERE even at times when those alternates routes where ridiculous(!) to find. I've got more on it but I think I've made my point. Never have I come across a game so ahead of its time in so many ways like incredible consistency to alternate paths and other ideas that developers didn't even touch years later. While I beat the game I was begging for this game to finally end! And when it did I wanted to replay the final level again to reach the other two endings and got mad frustrated by the game design and AI and pathways through and through. Assassin's Creed III. It's a mediocre game and a bad Assassin's Creed. Can't claim as the worst, that goes to Altair's Chronicles on the DS. I keep finding new things to yell about in every sequence. Like how you can't do what Ezio did and use a hidden blade to throw enemies down below while hanging on a ledge, or how you can only whistle while in corner cover. The combat somehow changed for the worse. The side quests are very minimal and so basic...fetch papers and play checkers. I'm on sequence six and I'm going to be relieved to finally get this game over. I'm on sequence six and I'm going to be relieved to finally get this game over. |

Quake IV, I really enjoyed the campaign but no one talks about it except for that "one extremely graphic scene" Prince of Persia Warrior Within. Yeah, Sands of Time is the best but I enjoyed this entry. Mega Man 5. 1-3 are always talked about, the first being the first, and the 2nd and 3rd being argued the best. 5 is overlooked. It's really good. Goldeneye on the Wii. It gets hammered for not being as extraordinary as its N64 predecessor but it's a great game in its own right, and definitely is not a Call of Duty rip off like many think it is. Phoenix Wright Trials and Tribulations. It's my most favorite one of all the DS games (followed really closely by the first one). Finally Dead Space Extraction. It's the best rail shooter I've ever played and had several ideas I don't think have ever been used before or after. Prince of Persia Warrior Within. In the past week I finished Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story. Yesterday I finished Call of Juarez Gunslinger, finished it in under 5 hours. I think it could have easily gone at least a couple hours longer. Yesterday I started Singularity and managed to get through it today with all the endings, total under 7 hours. It was really fun, definitely had Bioshock and Fear elements in it. Once I got the auto cannon gun the game got quite easy from that point, to where I wish I would have upped the difficulty one more notch. Today I downloaded However the next I intend to play is Sniper Elite v2. Today I downloaded However the next I intend to play is Sniper Elite v2. |

Today I finish Ghost Trick Phantom Detective. It is one of the best DS games in the whole library. I was shocked at how good it was. It has just the right amount of trial and error and added new ideas along the way. It's tricky but I think has just the right amount of trial and error to it. It does take some, but the rewind ability and the right difficulty of challenge never makes it feel overbearing. The story had me clenched through the end with some miraculous plot twists. I burned through what is about a 15 hour game in 4 days. |

I'm going to start Hotel Dusk Room 215. I'm also trying to get Pikmin 2 working but I'm having problems. I'll figure it out, somehow. I noticed there's a lot of detective/attorney games on the DS - Professor Layton, Ace Attorney, Hotel Dusk, Phantom Detective, 999. I'm liking the Nintendo DS more and more |

999: 9 Persons, 9 Doors 9 Hours. Without going into spoilers, I have gone through half the endings, but I haven't seen the true ending yet. So I'm going back to do it. It's kind of a drag in having to solve the puzzles and get through the rooms all over again. If not the text you can skip that you've already seen, I'd say forget it and move on. Unfortunately, as I play more and more, I'm caring less and less. I'm losing motivation just to get to the next ending....and I know I'd have to start over AGAIN to finally get the real ending. The ninja gaiden trilogy on the original Nintendo the hardest franchise I've ever played. Never would have beaten it without quick saves. Respawning enemies and the crazy ridiculous time limit all with a really short sword and very demanding tiny platforms. It's definitely the hardest. I also give a shout out to Mega Man but monsters all have weaknesses and eventually energy tanks were thrown in the mix, but it's still one of the hardest franchises of gaming. Last I'll throw in Castlevania, especially on the original Nintendo as well. Never played 2, but 1 and 3 are also VERY difficult games. The game boy advance titles are fairly challenging too but of course the king of difficulty goes to the NES. On steam I just bought Child of Light, Star Wars Dark Forces, Star Wars Dark Forces 2, and its expansion pack, Mysteries of the Sith, and finally Singularity. whenever top 10 video game franchises are whatever are brought Star wars somehow always gets overlooked in a way I feel shouldn't. If I were to rank Star wars of the top franchises overall I would put around #6 for Jedi Outcast, Battlefront 2, Rogue Squadron 1 & 2, and Republic Commando. I've played about 17 Star Wars titles and the franchise continues to move for easily the next 5 years with the upcoming Episodes 7-9. Screwattack called Singularity the most overlooked game of the 7th generation and I do thoroughly like fps titles. So I look forward to its mechanics and what makes it stand out among the pack (or doesn't since it was so overlooked). whenever top 10 video game franchises are whatever are brought Star wars somehow always gets overlooked in a way I feel shouldn't. Zubat! Can't escape! Fine, I'll fight them... the Pokemon hurt itself in confusion! Allow me to drain life while I'm at it with Leech Life. I always hated Zubat. Those round alien jelly blobs in Metro 2033. You had to defend this guy from one end to the other with infinitely respawning jelly blobs that went straight toward that guy you're trying to defend. Wallcrawlers from Ocarina of Time in the Forest and Shadow Temples. They brought you back to the beginning of the temple. Could you imagine wall crawlers in the water temple? That would have made an already infamous temple even more infamous. the Grim Reaper from Madworld. I died so many times because he is there to one hit KO you. I've restarted many times from those levels because even at full health a single attack from him kills you instantly. Enemy types in general that heal themselves. Final Fantasy is no stranger to that. Also, Pokemon that use "recover" like Starmie and Alakazam, or when trains decide to use a Full Restore or Hyper Potion upon finally getting a Pokemon down a sliver of health. The Flood from Halo, an overrated game. Level 8 of Halo was WAY too long for its own game and it was hordes and hordes of respawning Flood and the developers decide to copy and paste within copy and paste WITHIN copy and pasted level. Ugh! Those flood... Enemies that randomly become invincible: These show up from time to time in games, and always manage to prove the hard and fast rule that making an enemy invincible for any reason, for any length of time, is almost always a recipe for frustration. Above we have the “shielding” affix in Diablo 3 which just makes elite groups of enemies invulnerable for random intervals. It does not make them stop attacking however, and therefore you are usually dead because of it. Resident Evil and Dead space have those regenerative The enemies that run up to you with a knife and instantly kill you. You're firing at them and until they die are bullet sponges. They just grab their knife and machete and at full speed come straight at you. Far Cry 3 and Spec Ops the Line are notable examples. The boss battles that spawn little enemies that you have to face while taking on the boss as well. Infinitely respawning enemies: Medusa heads from Castlevania and many enemy types from the Ninja Gaiden games from the Nintendo Entertainment System, especially the birds. Lastly, I'll throw those types of enemies that come up in tiny swarms that run up to you just to blow up in your face. They don't necessarily do a lot of damage, but they are an annoyance. Also the ones that stick to your face blinding your vision. Bugs from the Resident Evil series, Head crabs from Half Life, Wow this post was a lot longer than I had anticipated. *SPOILERS* The one that comes to mind is the Walking Dead Season One. Clementine and Lee are one of the greatest duos in gaming history. I couldn't bring it to myself to kill Lee in the end. I chose to leave him behind alive but my heart ached in those last final moments unlike any heartache I've ever felt in any other video game yet. Just when I thought things were winding down the suspense spiked when that zombie was right on Lee's leg and it was up to Clementine to "save him," but it was already too late. Walking Dead Season Two also carried a strong, sad ending but the creme of the crop goes to season one. The one that comes to mind is the Walking Dead Season One. My favorite end credits was Majora's Mask had the best end credits. Majora's Mask had that party with the Zoras rocking out with music, then continued with the 4th Day where the Happy Mask Salesman departs with the mask and having both a Mario mask and a Shigeru Miyamoto mask. Plus just seeing that "Dawn of a New Day" with a white background and black text instead of black background and white text screen appear felt so satisfying as seeing I was stuck in the same three day loop over and over the whole game. It also let you go back and see all that you accomplished like reuniting characters (Anju and Kafei). |

I would go with super smash bros wii u. 50+ characters, the vast modes of play, dozens of stages and special event modes. I have over 2000 hours of play time between the Nintendo 64, gamecube and wii versions. I have only played smash bros wii u once on my birthday event; someone brought a wii u over. If not for steam, I would be the owner of a wii u and be as addicted as ever in smash bros. Online play will only last a few years and then everyone either gets tired of it and/or the servers shut down. But I am totally fine with npc characters. Yep, super smash bros for life.
