I don't remember... But all I had to defeat was Iceman and Fireman, then the Wily stages. I don't really care about the score. |

This is one of those amazing games that takes something completely ridiculous and makes it not only fun, but extremely cool. Sparkster the Rocket Knight, an opossum in armor and wearing a jet pack and wielding a sword. How could you go wrong with that? Sega and Konami seem to have a knack for making anthropomorphic animals cool. Graphics: The graphics are spectacular, on the level with games like Sonic the Hedgehog and other amazing games in this era. The way the characters were drawn gives it a sort of epic cartoony feel, one that makes it still feel like you have to save the day, but it's not hard and gritty. It takes a special group of people to throw goggles and a jet pack on a possum, give him a sword, and make him look epic, even while hanging upside down from a tree. Sound: That music makes you feel like you could strap on a jet pack, grab your sword, and go out and make some pork chops from evil pigs invading your kingdom yourself. It has a heroic feel to it that helps keep this pork popping possum cool. The only thing is it's repetitive. The stage music doesn't change, at least through the first few stages. The in between music changes, and still has that heroic ring to it, along with Sparkster in a different heroic pose for each stage. Addictiveness: Even though the difficulty is fairly high up there, I find myself coming back to it again and again after subsequent defeats. It has a certain appeal to it that even though I'm getting my prehensile tail whipped, I still want to get right back up and whip the baddies curly ones. Story: Two warring kingdoms, betrayals, kidnappings, and ancient... Death Stars? Yes, this game has the PORKSTAR, obviously based of the weapon of doom of Star Wars fame. This game has a very interesting story, and is one of the things that will keep you coming back for more. Depth: There's only six stages, and with some practice, you will be zipping through them in no time. The game play offers much though. Through part of the stage, you're walking, slashing your sword at enemies, and charging your jet pack to shoot off toward the sky or a wall, or even to do a spin slash in place. A few smashed pig bots later, you're flying through the sky in a side scrolling shooter, taking down parachuting pigs popping projectiles at you. It also makes use of Sparkster's prehensile tail, gripping onto tree branches to move on to new areas. Difficulty: It can take a bit to figure out how to defeat each boss. There were moments when I thought a boss was impossible to defeat, but after a while you find it's weak point and remember it's pattern, and that pig goes down. You have to think a bit to figure out how to get through some of the levels, but eventually, you figure it out and pigs start perishing. All in all, it's a fantastic game, with an interesting plot and amazing, fun graphics. The music makes you want to pick up a sword in real life and start smashing pig-built robots, and the slight difficulty and intriguing story keeps you coming back for more. Oh, the pictures for the games you own are all missing, and last time I tried, you couldn't get to it by clicking the "Click here to view the games you own" link on the RGR homepage. I think they all lead to 404s too. Not sure on that last part.
EDIT: Never mind. I don't know what was up earlier. EDIT: Never mind. I don't know what was up earlier. |

It does seem much nicer. The game profile pages need some work though. |

What I would like to see would be some PlayStation 1 Emulations. I have been told that MegaMan Legends on the PS1 is the best, and currently MegaMan 64 don't work for me. |

Yeah, Capcom is making stupid moves. Now, I'm not into Street Fighter and stuff, but their flagship set of series, Mega Man, is getting hammered by them. They announce a cool looking game called Mega Man Universe, and then cancel it. Then they announce Mega Man Legends 3, get a whole slew of fans working for and towards it, and then they cancel it. Not smart at all. |

This was really dumb on Capcom's part. Copying post from another site....
Begin rant. Okay Capcom, that was dumb. Not only did you cancel Mega Man Universe, a game that showed some promise, but you string us along with promises of MegaMan Legends 3, a tie up to all the questions you left at the end of Legends 2. You even set it up so that fans from both Japan and the US can help design some aspects of the game! You had tens of thousands of people contributing and voting on what their favorite designs were. You even made it exclusively for the 3DS, something I'm sure Nintendo was happy about. Any self-respecting MegaMan Legends fan who played the first two will be dying to play the third, and will buy a 3DS to do so. And you even promise a prototype version, one that's not a demo, but a small prequel to the full game! And for free!!! And then you cancel it, crushing the dreams of thousands all over the world. I must agree. X2's boss was just...Lacking. Especially in the looks department. I can't say that I fried him first try, but once I got the Shoryuken down, he was a piece of cake. The 3-D on the SNES was cool, though. |

Well, at the end of X1, if you stayed through the credits, Sigma vows revenge. Spoiler: and the last of the Mavericks have still to be defeated. That and Zero's dead Spoiler: Phew! A lotta spoilers, but mainly because it builds off the first game so much. Anyway, the standard way I do this is 1-10 scales:
After charging through an abandoned Reploid factory, X finds out that there are 8 new Mavericks to defeat, and a group of Reploids calling themselves the X-Hunters have Zero's parts. Now X must rescue his friend and return the world to peace. 1: Playability: 7/10. There's two endings, and the standard amount of collectables: 8 heart tanks, four sub tanks, and four armor parts. Some of the bosses and puzzles are crazy hard though, especially if you want the best ending (and one less boss to fight). 2: Graphics: 9/10. Largely the same as the first game though, but if something works, why change it? 3: Difficulty: 7/10 (The closer to 10 this scale is, the harder it is). Wow. It's really hard to figure out which Maverick to take on first, just because they're all so hard without their weakness. The X-Hunters are especially hard, but fighting three extra bosses Spoiler: and to lose a really hard boss fight near the end is worth it.
to save your friend (Zero is AWESOME!! Especially now since he has his Z-Saber) 4: Plot: 8/10. The intrigue! Spoiler: Are the X-Hunters really working alone? Will Sigma really take his revenge? You still have almost no reason to fight the 8 Mavericks besides the fact that they are evil, but it still is better than X1. Which was awesome by the way. Will you leave Zero to his fate, or will you save him? Spoiler: and the last of the Mavericks have still to be defeated. That and Zero's dead Spoiler: Phew! Mega Man X is the first game that I played, and I must say coming back to it after all these years is fantastic! It was a spectacular move for Capcom to make, and the graphics and mechanics are amazing. Anyway, I'll do this in several categories:1: Playability: 8/10. It's a lot of fun! It has a few collectibles, and not so many that you get overwhelmed. It can be a little hard to get all of them, but the challenge is worth it! The game mechanics are largely from the original series, which I have played none of, but are still fantastic! You're not jumping and squishing goombas or jumping on robots, you're shooting them up with your Mega Buster! However, it can be very difficult if you don't know what you're doing, which is why a walkthrough would come in handy.2: Graphics: 9/10The Detail! It's fantastic! Amazing! Especially on the SNES, this game really impressed me! 3: Difficulty: 6/10 (The closer to ten this number is, the harder it is. Five is just about right, challenging but not too hard) : Some of the bosses are tough if you don't know what their weakness is. They don't give you any hints either, except the elements of the bosses. Really, how was I supposed to guess that the Shotgun Ice works best against Spark Mandrill? After seeing what it did to Flame Mammoth's stage, I was more likely to try it on him than Sparky. However, I had a walkthrough that I read so I knew what to do. After that, it's still pretty difficult, but manageable if you keep trying.4: Plot: 7/10: It's pretty simple, but still innovative. If you combine this with parts of the Day of Sigma OVA, it makes a lot more sense. However, it's not completely canon, and only with the PSP remake, so take that as you will. Spoiler: Also, Zero keeps dying and coming back throughout the series, and I find that a little ridiculous, even if he is a robot. Right now, my favorite game of all is Mega Man X. However, I haven't played any of the original series, and X1 is the only one of the X series I have played. I have played Battle Network and Starforce, and I have quite a few of those, but X1 is still my favorite. So far. |
