MegaRevolution1 : I wish to death that life could be that straightforward. The main problem I see is that it is not that easy to control anything on the Black Market. Period. I can't see how banning guns would help with these mass shootings. It has been stated on this thread that the mentally ill tend to be the ones pulling the trigger. What makes you think somebody who has a skewed sense of right and wrong would think twice about purchasing illegal items?
Hey, kids buy illegal items (Herbs) all the time in High School. It could be just as easy to obtain guns on the black market very quickly if they are banned. If anything, it's best they're legal because we have laws and officials who can carry to protect us and enforce the said laws. We currently have multiple laws in place to ensure the credibility of gun buyers. In Florida, most first time gun buyers have a 3 day waiting period. Also, another tidbit I found "It is unlawful for the following persons to own, possess or use any firearm - drug addicts, alcoholics, mental incompetents, and vagrants" along with the background checks. If you ban them, you keep them in the criminal's hands, but out of the hands they were meant for: the citizen protecting himself.
No hostilities intended, just some thoughts and my input.
