I am 17 years old turning 18 on the 2nd of January next year, so as you can see I am a 1993 model fresh out of the package and still growing. However as I come across older people that play games it´s quite common for them to say something along the lines of "The game of today are too easy, it was more fun and harder back in the days". But in stores I only find recent games and online I only find old games that tend to be hard because of bad design (such as for The Elderscrolls II : Arena, where if you hit or not depends on a random number generator (dice-rolls FTW) and it can be hard where you don´t hit at all, or easy when you get lucky and hit all the times).
So the point of this thread is to have all the good people of the far past, suggest games for me that fit this category of "old and hard", I will admit this thread stems partly from frustration generated from the hundreds of comments about the younger generation ruining gaming by expecting to get games that hold your hand and walk you through them and the game producing companies giving in to such expectations (or demands in some cases), with me caught up in all of this without having tested much older games than Hercules and Fighting Force (and those were designed for children so they are even easier than expected) not being able to judge for myself if the games of today are really that easy or not, due to lack of experience with older games. So yeah, give me some suggestions for old and hard games please. Edits: Tested the games and overall I see where people are coming from when they say games are easier or too easy these days, however I´m not quite smitten by those games as what captivates me is a good story, perhaps in the future some nice chap will make a good hard game with a rich story to boot. Easiest game I´ve ever plaid is Fable And the lost chapters, you just buy a ton of food, upgrade your health so you don´t die in one hit and then you but food on the hotkeys and mash the button for food as you mash your left mousebutton to hit stuff, this works throughout the entire game (aside from having to put a silver glyph on your weapon at one point but besides that...)
Oh and I don´t look at how long a game is as a measurement of how hard it is, a game that takes 80 months to beat can be easier than a game that takes 8 minutes to beat. I feel your pain, same here. People tend to tickle me during friendly contests of strength if they are losing so I get paralyzed and they win. |

I have a talent for math given the correct teaching (I failed math 202 last semester of college with a bad teacher that got fired but this semester I´m top of the class with 8.5 on my last math test).
I can hide pain when I expect it, if you suddenly stab me with the tip of a knife I´ll yelp but if you show me the knife and then stab me (shallow ofc not deep) I can hide the fact that I´m feeling pain. I cook the best spaghetti in the world (too bad people won´t try it cos it´s... exotic). I am agile, can do this stretch.
I read fast (if it´s material I like reading, absorb fantasy books like a sponge). I can manage large gatherings of people given enough time and anonymity (I am quite shy IRL and I look ugly and people tend to judge based on looks, in a MMO I however lead a social/leveling guild consisting of 500+ different people and every weekend I held guild meetings where we would come together and do something fun like play word games or role-play and such, attendance was optional however so those weekend gatherings had everything from 100 different members attending on slow and quiet weekends to 300 attending on busy weekends, I always had to keep the morale up between the 500 members intercepting if an argument came up and such though). Now that I sound all good and dandy there better not be a thread about bad points XD I promise you with all my egotistical boosting of my few talents I´d be forced to give up the larger list of bad qualities in return Edit: Just to clarify, the picture is unrelated, I´m not even that good looking I can hide pain when I expect it, if you suddenly stab me with the tip of a knife I´ll yelp but if you show me the knife and then stab me (shallow ofc not deep) I can hide the fact that I´m feeling pain. Ling Xiyaou just love her fighting style (granted it´s pretty unreal as there is no way such slender arms on such a small girl could throw something heavy like Gun-Jack or Kuma into the air with a single slap) and I plaid with her so much that I could beat all my friends with only her in the mode where you can fight 8 vs 8 except I fought 1 vs 8 and pissed them off, I don´t know if she is the best character but she is very fluid and in my mind likely the strongest tekken character and most worthy of being champion of the iron fist tournament.

I take great pride in being an RPG nerd, when I play an RPG I immerse myself as best I can and even for a game like FFX that doesn´t really count as a RPG (it lacks too many elements of RPG) I still play as if I was at the place the main character is at, and ofc I act as the main character.
So what does all of this have to do with FFX having a bad game design and the Al Bhed primers ? If you do not mind spoilers read on, if not please go away, I hate spoilers and it makes my heart ache when I spoil something for other players, now on with the topic! So I was happily playing through FFX as immersed as I am when I play RPG´s when I noticed that the Al Bhed language is pretty neat and decided to play the game again after collecting all the primers, however I noticed I was nearing the end of the game (it´s pretty obvious by what characters you fight and such, I didn´t check online how long the game is or anything like that) while I had only a few primers, so I went online to seek information (and I rarely do this) about if I needed to finish all content or not to get the primers since first time around I was gonna play it as a RPG and the 2nd time I was gonna play it through 100% with the language already translated not paying any heed to RP elements (such as rushing if a place is gonna colapse rather than checking every room for stuff)when I found a page that informed me of a terrible thing. You can miss 4 of the primers never to get them again unless you play from scratch, and those 4 primers are a good 75% into the game. I felt sick and gutted, I realized I had to make another save and get those primers, save the letters and then delete that save and continue with my first save, and while I tried to look at it as an oppertunity to check if I liked the linear or the more free sphere grids more it still feels too much to have to play through 75% of the game only to get those 4 letters so I can play the game through again with every letter translated. Who else shares my pain, who else thinks it´s stupid that the only letters you can only get once are so late into the game, who else thinks it´s even stupid at all for a RPG to have such a key element of the game locked at all at a certain time ? I shall play the game twice and a three quarter times, however that´s just me, what I´d like to know is what you guys view of this is and what you would do. Edit: A thousand apologizes, I did not notice there was an entire board dedicated to FF, sorry, please move this and whip me for my failure. Hehe, in my opinion everyone who has said it was easy to pick still made the wrong choises.
I would first of all wish for the power to do "anything" no matter what, then I´d have the power to do anything I could ever wish for including making myself rich or curing cancer or creating world peace. my 2.nd wish would be used to have no restraints on what I could wish for after the genie had told me I was cheating, and my 3rd wish would be my 1st wish except I´d get it granted this time around if I didn´t get it the first time. Depends, if a person is asking me for money I first ask for what, if it´s something I find reasonable I look at their clothes, if their clothes are fashion clothes but not practical clothes I will refuse, a person who doesn´t know how to handle money doesn´t deserve money.
When it comes to services it depends on if I got time, if I got time I ask what they want me to do and if I feel like I can do that and feel the situation could really use me then I help out, but only if the person either simply can´t do it or is going to help me. When it comes to hitch-hikers if they are walking as they hitch a ride I let them in, if they are standing still waiting for a ride I don´t let them, they don´t deserve it because they did not have any intention of putting any effort into getting from place A to place B to begin with, worst of all is if it´s in a city, then I rather honk at them loudly as I pass by. So basically I help those that try to help themselves. There is no meaning to life, we just live and die and it´s simply because of extreme luck when it comes to conditions for life that we get to live, and when we die our mind simply stops functioning and so does the body, in other words I will just die and nothing more, my body will either rot or get burned or something else but there is no spirit so I won´t go anywhere.
So it cannot be described in any other way than one moment you are alive and functioning and can think and the next it´s all over. So it cannot be described in any other way than one moment you are alive and functioning and can think and the next it´s all over. |

I´ve never had those kind of darkness frights or anything like that most likely because I was able to grasp pretty complex ideas at an early age and had (and still have) a older brother who spends a lot of time with me and is studying science, and he´s always taught me crap and such, however I had one fear and I still do, a fear of dogs.
I often get attacked by dogs and I really dunno why... but as a child I think it may have had some traumatic impact on me or something since I´ve developed a phobia of dogs, if I see a dog on a leash with its master walking it when I will not walk past them but go around them at least being like 25+ meters away from the dog, I´ve learned to recognize the signs of a dog being aggressive now but I still can´t pass or stand dogs, even a recent thing is when some puppy came walking towards me stumbling since it had just learned to walk and I ran up a tree. So yeah, as a kid I was afraid of dogs and I became a bit scared of the dark but only outside because I realized I´d notice a dog later if it was stalking me so I´d most likely not manage to run with my short legs before it got me, now however I´m past that, I´m too big to feel that dogs are life threatening so if one attacks me at night I think I could fend it off or outrun it by going to places that require climbing. I´ve experienced quite a few earthquakes of different sizes, also a few volcanic eruptions and avalanches, no injuries though However with all of this I´ve only had lighting once, but that doesn´t count unless I´m mistaken. Right now there are some volcanic eruptions going on in Iceland, me and a few others in my family decided to go hiking to see it more up close However with all of this I´ve only had lighting once, but that doesn´t count unless I´m mistaken. Ohh how humans like to screw themselves with their huge self consciousness, next thing we know humans will stop dropping feces or passing gas cos it looks bad.
The homo tree in the animal kingdom has picked their noses and ATE the booger (yes you heard me) for a long time, scientifically speaking boogers do have an immune-system boosting effect ,the germs contained in the booger are basically already dead or extremely weakened, much like the viruses and other various diseases contained in vaccines.Once that is eaten, the body absorbs those agents and builds up even more antibodies to protect itself from these invisible invaders. So much like you are... how should I put it... programmed to sucks your mothers breast at a young age to get milk you don´t even see you are also made to reach into your nose to extract bugger from it clearing the nostrils and then putting it in your mouth, not for taste or nutrient but to strengthen the immunity system. Tough one... however I´m a freak when it comes to hybrids and my favorite pokémon is Eevee and its evolutions, but that´s overall I got others for specific occasions.
For the game boy games my favorite pokémon is Nidoking and it´s pre-evolution stages, it´s one of the most powerful pokémons in my opinion and I remember beating a friend who used a cheat so he could have Mew+Mewtwo+Articuno+Zaptos+Moltres+Dragonite all at level 100 with only my Nidoking at level 100 in a duel, never had to use my Pidgeot, Blastoise, Charizard, Golem or Mewtwo. For the card games my favorite is Geodude, he´s just so damn powerful and with a good amount of luck you can take down anything with him, once dueled my friend who had made a fire deck with my fighting deck just because I managed to take a Charizard with full HP down before he killed my Geodude, that is I flipped the coin 12 times heads in a row For the game boy games my favorite pokémon is Nidoking and it´s pre-evolution stages, it´s one of the most powerful pokémons in my opinion and I remember beating a friend who used a cheat so he could have Mew+Mewtwo+Articuno+Zaptos+Moltres+Dragonite all at level 100 with only my Nidoking at level 100 in a duel, never had to use my Pidgeot, Blastoise, Charizard, Golem or Mewtwo. I watched the first few episodes but I hated the show when it got to the fight against Brock, a low level Pikatchu is NOT going to be able to defeat Onyx with lighting attacks, so I lost all interest in the shows.
I plaid the card-game and game-boy games while there were only 151 pokémons, the world of pokémon became shallow and boring after that. XD If pokémon had staid with only 151 pokémons and the anime had been done better than I´d still be playing and watching I plaid the card-game and game-boy games while there were only 151 pokémons, the world of pokémon became shallow and boring after that.
