*Waves hands around* I have! I have! I've read both the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Claire. I originally picked up Claire's works when I saw the covers for "Clockwork Prince" and the Mortal Instruments were sitting right next to "Clockwork," so I went ahead and picked up both series, juggling which to read first. Wound up reading all of the Mortal Instruments before Infernal Devices, but I really enjoyed "City of Bones," so I kept reading and picking up the books as they came out. Overall, the series is pretty amazing. I've loved everything I've read by her so far. Haven't been seriously disappointed by her yet. (Sorry-- it's been two years since I read "City of Bones.") My mom grew up with cats, while my dad was allergic to cats, but both of them had pets growing up. So, mom went out and got a puppy when I was five years old. A small white thing that played for the first couple of years, but became a grumpy small dog, along with the second white dog my mom got after suffering really bad postpartum depression with my first younger brother, so dad got the dog after she came in crying to him at work. Even though I didn't get to play with the smaller dogs much, I asked for a dog when I was in high school. Dad said no, but he brought home a lab/Shepard mix not even a month later. So, I got my dog that would play/not get mean with me. The same year, the younger white dog was put down because he had cancer. My parents waited two weeks, then went to find another dog. They came home with our Brittany from the Humane Society. He came in and made himself right at home and was the lab mix's best friend from the start. A couple of years go by, I leave for college. Before I came home for Christmas, my parents adopted a Yorkie because the first dog they got had turned 16 in the fall and wasn't doing too good. Mom wanted another lap dog after adopting the two bigger dogs, so they found a lap dog. In May, we had to put down our 16 year old dog. I've grown up with dogs. When I'm in public with my friends and we pass a dog or I go over to someone's house who has a dog, I've got dogs climbing on me, wanting attention. I talk, I play with them. I like dogs more than humans sometimes. I've tried to be friendly with cats, but it doesn't work. I don't get the same reaction from cats that I do dogs. But because I'm still in dorm life. I have a fish that sits on my desk in my dorm room. Once I've graduated and have decided that I'm staying in the US or moving to the UK, I want to adopt my own dog for the companionship. I had the flu or something two/three years ago-- it was the outbreak of the swine flu. I got the vaccine, turned around and got sick within a couple of days. I went to school for two days, thinking it was fine. But when I started falling asleep in class, I knew I couldn't do it. Had a fever, my legs were so sore, and I couldn't keep my eyes open. I wound up skipping a day of school and sleeping 12 hours before I felt better. This spring, I had a bad allergic reaction to air/spring in general. I've gotten myself to the point where I can't control my anxiety and start having nose bleeds. Got into a fight with my roommate/best friend, it went from nose bleeds to constant snot, to either being really hot or really cold. I was coughing, sneezing, having trouble staying awake. I drugged myself the best I could, but my meds weren't working. Emailed home to ask my mom, since she's good at figuring out what's wrong with us, when she said that it sounded like I was having problems with allergies. But before she could call/email me with what she think was wrong, I switched over to allergy meds and started to clear up. But it took three/four weeks of allergy meds and relaxing until I felt 100%. .:Edit:. I found out the rather hard way that I'm allergic to pork. Fun times, fun times. I graduated as a Pirate two years ago (bleh), but my family's relocated to Viking territory (even more bleh). I walk along the levy now and then. Girl with bright red hair. But I don't leave home often. . ![]() Any fellow Falcons out there? I go to Bowling Green State University! I kept falling asleep in the You might have also seen my picture in the Forums section of the newspaper, btw. .:Home:. Anyone from south of Dayton, Ohio? It seems like not many people have piercings, which I have most of. First, seconds, and thirds in both ears. I try to keep earrings in all of the time, but some types screw up my ears and I can't keep captive bead/horseshoe earrings in well. I have my right cartilage done twice. One near the top of my ear and the second a bit below. This one is the newest-- I got it during my lunch break at work in May. Industrial (the bar/scaffold) on my left ear. This one is probably my favorite one out of the ten pierced holes I have. I had my tragus done at one point, but I took the ring out to clean it and couldn't get it back in (it got seriously infected on a trip). Even though I loved the look, it was a pain in the butt to wear headphones. Even though there's a lot of slightly noticeable piercings, people don't notice I have them unless I pull my hair back. It's been rather fun hiding all of this and my tattoo from my grandma, who would freak out (especially since three have happened since I started attending college, along with the tattoo) Tattoos-- I have "Mischief Managed" with three stars tattooed on my right ankle, from underneath the knob of my ankle to the top of my foot. It really didn't hurt until the artist got to the top of my ankle. That was done in January, but needs touched up when I don't have to wear shoes, since wearing shoes is what screwed up some of the lettering/just bending my ankle caused it. Future plans-- hopefully with what I get paid this week, I can go get two puppy paws tattooed on my collar bone (left side, I think). "Dismantle. Repair." on my shoulder blades (favorite song by favorite band, Anberlin) sometime. "Justify the things that come to mind" on probably my left foot. Favorite song quote by Anberlin/it got me through the past couple of months when I started college. And finally, All Time Low's skull and crossbones somewhere reasonable, since ATL is my second favorite band. This one is probably going to come last. First, seconds, and thirds in both ears. I go to Bowling Green State University, in Ohio. Not Kentucky, but Ohio. While BGSU wasn't my first pick (Ball State University in Indiana was), I'm in love with BG and sorely miss it over the summer. I think it was the independence I had from my family and classes that I miss the most, along with the newspaper. I'm a second year journalism major, minoring in international studies. For 2014-2015, I plan on studying abroad and working in London for my minor. I've got my eyes on University of Westminster, but I have to talk to my education abroad office in the fall. What I plan on doing with my major? Finish school in the next three/three and a half years (including all of the internships I have to do). Move to a more global location so I can do international news reporting for a little bit. Maybe go and get my Masters in International Relations with a strong background in Arabic if I want to. I don't know what I would do with the Masters though, besides work for international organizations/government organizations. I'm a columnist/writer/copy editor for my university's newspaper. The demand the paper has differs from semester to semester. I went from being a bi-weekly columnist, to weekly columnist to summer editor of the opinion section. I've only copy edited once a week for the past two semesters, but I now plan on being in the offices every night we go to print or have online nights. I edit on the side for a online historic journal. Even though I felt like my columns for them were lackluster, I'm now their lead columnist. The fun part of this experience is that I've never met anyone besides the editor in chief in person, or have gone to any of their meetings since they interfere with class or copy editing. I also am apart of the Creative Writing club, but I kind of want to drop it, but if I do, it'll offend the other two officers. But I really have no interest in being involved anymore, especially if they're moving it off campus. Between 16-18 credit hours, 12-16 hours of work a week, I really didn't headstrong and join other clubs. My evenings are always booked, between copy editing or 6pm classes, but there are a few clubs I want to get involved in this fall. Bio Ethics Bowl sounds like fun. While I dislike public speaking, I'm willing prep/train others for competition. I would also like to get involved with our education abroad offices/international community for my minor/wanting to study abroad in a year or so. I edit on the side for a online historic journal.
