That's awesome, congrats!

I used to be a huge lurker when it came to forums but in the last couple of years I tend to have couple thousand posts per year on some. I'm always on smaller forums, so I'd say that's a pretty good number these days.

I seriously need to get my hands on this. I love Earthbound. :3

A friend of mine is playing it currently and she talks about how awesome it is any time talk to her. The only reason I don't have it now I guess is because I'm lazy.

I've only played the N64 version. I was playing it last night, actually.

My roommate has the Wii version but I've not played. We should play that at some point maybe so it won't feel like such a waste of money.

I don't watch TV so it won't really affect me.

I set up the box for my dad and taught my mom how to properly utilize her already digital-ready televisions. It's not that complicated, but if you get crap analog reception you're probably not going to get very many channels. Whereas with analog TV you get a fuzzy picture if the signal is weak, with digital you get nothing. If you want to buy a stronger antenna you can get more, of course.

I've only ever used Opera on the Wii. That's likely not the best example of it. It was functional of course, and the only connection I had to the internet for an entire summer once (I didn't yet have a computer and leeched a nearby wireless signal).

Hocrap I just realized once I get my Wii set up and connected to the internet again it's going to have so many damn updates to do. >.<

If/when I upgrade I'm probably going to have one of my roommates do it for me while I watch in the fetal position.

Maybe then next time I need to do that I can do it myself, haha.

I was having that problem with disc two of it, but I had no issue with disc one and I've been playing it with no issue so far. I've mentioned that in another thread and it's supposed to be fixed at some point hopefully but maybe if this happened to you with disc one there's some deeper issue... or the problem is on our end, heh.

A fair portion of my internet friends (people I talk to on messengers and have seen to add to facebook) are Aussies. I certainly run into a lot of them online. Kiwis too, actually. People on the other side of the world are awesome.

Joe Satriani is far more important as an artist than Coldplay will ever be. To me he's a big enough name I'm shocked they thought they could pull this off. I've heard about a lot of cases like this where the person being ripped off was a nobody but Joe Satriani is far from that.

I'm actually going to listen to both songs now.

Wow, that actually is really similar. Just the melody, at first I was expecting them to have taken the guitar parts or something, but they basically did, but used it for the vocal melody. I listened to If I Could Fly first and even though I had never heard the Coldplay song before it sounded almost as if I had. Different as they may be otherwise, it's really too similar at the same time to be accidental.

Video games are merely a scapegoat. They don't want to blame the people actually responsible because it means more effort than they really want to put in to fix anything. The people who push that video games lead to mass shootings or even lesser sorts of violence just want something that makes it look like they're doing something to fix the problem.

The real issue is with the parents, the friends of the people doing this, the people who terrorize and make fun of the people who do this. People snap after being pushed far enough. It has nothing to do with their favorite forms of entertainment. A healthy happy person isn't going to be influenced by something like that. Someone who is hurting or angry or both didn't get the idea from the game they were playing, they got it from seeing the access they could get to weapons to do it.

It's society's issue, not entertainment. That said, entertainment is a big part of our society, and I'd say the violence in games is merely a reflection of what goes on in our world, and not the other way around.

Maybe I'll check this out after my 30 free days of WoW expire... <.<

Though if I can get a well enough paying job (and still have enough free time) I'll be subscribing to WoW at some point.

The issue was that Nintendo was never making nearly enough to meet people's demands. I don't know that they've righted that, though you would definitely hope they would have by now.

I was in a GameStop today, I could have asked about that. Dang.

Yes, ziggy, breed the mistrust. Breed it well. ;P

Though it's probably sound advice indeed.

You should have gotten a private message with that info. Unless I'm confusing your question here. I'm just a few days old here, so I'm not the best for advice giving.

Welcome, Schnapper. I'm still new too, but it seems pretty spiffy here so far. Hehe, I could tell you were Aussie (or at least quite fond of them) too. *is more proud than she should be*

I admit I merely skimmed much of the topic after the first post, but I would assume people were misreading you because it was a bit of a shift from the original question. Over whether or not games themselves are art, rather than if playing them was.

I don't work at a game store anymore but and I haven't asked being that I have one, but it wouldn't surprise me, actually.

In fact, I'm pretty sure they are still, as baseless as that idea may be.

Welcome. I'm pretty new too (like I joined a day or two ago).

I quite like it so far. But yes, I've learned to avoid taking people up on offers of food or antidotes to supposed poisons.

I've heard it's probably going to be quite a lot better than Vista. I'm going to avoid upgrading to Vista if I can, but I'll probably go up to Windows 7. I've never upgraded an OS before, so that will be interesting (this computer is my first, I've only had it for about a year).
