What's your thoughts on the origin of sexual preferences?
Personally, I honestly believe it's simply a developed attraction, and can change over time. Just like taste buds. As a child, I enjoyed the taste of spinach, but now I don't. A person could spend high school being attracted to one sex, only to go on to college contemplating trying out the other sex and they figure out they currently like the other side more. But then as an adult, they may start going back to the sex they desired originally, because their brain simply desires differing people as they get older. Now, I won't just present my opinion on the side I support, I'll also present my rebuttals against the opposing sides: Born: From what I know, this is impossible. Babies aren't "born" anything. Your personality is a learned behavior (even though everyone likes to argue otherwise). Your likes and dislikes are learned behavior. Babies are a blank slate. Babies aren't "attracted" to anything. That's why we make up the "cooties" idea until we reach our teens, because kids don't respond to sexual stimuli of any kind until around puberty. Learned: In my opinion, preferences can't be "learned", they're entirely personal. Someone can tell you for days that pizza is disgusting, but until you try eating it yourself, you won't actually know. And if you eat pizza, and it disgusts you, then that's that. But if you like it, then it doesn't matter how long someone tries to "brainwash" you to think the opposite, you'll always know that you enjoyed eating pizza. Choice: Personally, if your "preferences" can change on a dime, I don't think you "prefer" them at all. I would feel you treat preferences as if they're simply ideas that you can try when you want to and ignore them when you don't. I can't see how science would back up sexual preference as a choice, but then again I may be missing something. Also, this is just my opinion. Open to hearing other opinions. ![]() That's a page with Fixed Width, HUD, and the sidebars turned off. Apologies if I feel the bar is now obvious enough that I don't need a glaringly-obvious red circle pointing it out lol. Not a single dropdown menu, button, or text box beneath this bar is clickable, and every single page I load on Vizzed has it (custom background, non-custom background, hidden forum, unhidden forum, profile, retro game room, etc). It also totally hides the left section of any picture I load into the background, which is just... ugly. Lol Is there code that is supposed to make this bar something usable and it just isn't for me? My HUD hasn't worked since its creation, but this bar isn't part of the HUD, it's something separate. Information from anyone would be helpful. ![]() That's a page with Fixed Width, HUD, and the sidebars turned off. The dark bar on the far left of the screen. The right side doesn't have it. If there's text behind it, the text becomes unclickable. Clearly it's SUPPOSED to do something. What is it? Zlinqx : For me, there's a big difference between "willing" and "serious". I've personally talked (both face-to-face and online, friends and strangers) with people who would be "willing" to convert. But since the surgeries are expensive, not too many (about 1/10) actually have started saving up.
Anyone can show a webpage about the cost and complications, but not everyone can pull an envelope off a shelf in their closet saying :Gender Reassignment: with even just 13 dollars or so inside. Prove you're serious, and I'll support you all the way, and if I know you well enough I'll even toss you money myself to help. Until then, you are nothing but talk. tgags123 : As far as I know, Trust Points don't affect site availability once you hit Elite/Staff status. So you should be fine now, at least. Not that I'm advocating for the abrasive-debate style. As you point out yourself, it's not exactly the best way and usually doesn't accomplish what a person hopes to accomplish debating a stance. |

NovemberJoy : I actually prefer the impulsive response, it feels more genuine. As I told tgags123, I wrote the woman rant when I was 18/19 and it isn't that I thought women haven't already figured it out, it's that my mindset was basically "shouldn't you be used to this by now?" For the second point, yes the assumption is that the Christian word is the true intent of whatever God that may or may not exist; I pointed that out because if every word in that book is true, and it details how a person could ascend after life, then why should a person have to buy the instruction manual for that? Surely the government could eat the cost of a book I can currently buy at a $0.99 store. Btw I never equated all furries to bestiality, those were two separate sentences. Hence why I started the bestiality line with "Even more insane if..." but the fact that I detail one right after the other WAS meant to connect them loosely though; there are different "levels" of how "furry" furries are, after all. And certain sexual desires within the expansive furry community ARE in a higher ratio than the standard population spread (bestiality, for example. Homosexuality is another.). But I am curious about the pre-internet meetups you mentioned. Is there a book you can point me out to or a newspaper clip I could use to look a bit more into that? As far as I knew, this particular group of people didn't exist en masse at all before the internet, or at least not in knowledge of others. Finally, the term Social Justice Warrior is NOW being mocked and used as a joke, but it wasn't ORIGINALLY. Just like Black Lives Matter was originally chasing a justifiable and support-worthy message, but a few bad eggs was all it took and now too many BLM movements, past and present, merely want racial superiority rather than recognition (its original purpose). It's disgusting.
tgags123 : You can't just say that without telling the story of your past. I don't want to pry, but... curious now. Darn you! Lol ZeroTails : By "plan it out" I did mean, like, knowing around what time it'll start, knowing what your body would allow as it's happening (and not push harder on yourself than necessary), knowing your limit basically. As I've pointed out, I wrote that when I was 18 or 19, and I noticed a lot of women complaining then about things that, to me, didn't register. One thought was "if it's uncomfortable to stand up from a sitting position, why are you b****ing about getting up just because you want a can of soda? Just ask someone to get it for you." All in all, I'm glad your response focused on the period rant, I was hoping someone would. It gave me some insight on that side of things. It helped me learn. Feel free to express your views on my other 3 rant points as well. ![]() Zlinqx : I always panic typing your name, thinking I typed g instead of q lol. With my first post, and why I left it the way it was, I'd be copy-pasting from exactly what I just told Jigsaw a paragraph ago. So just look up one paragraph, and you'll know why I wanted to keep it as-is. Plus, everything's written exactly the way I'd talk, which added to my original idea of "I want everyone willing to give me an honest response to be as honest as possible, without caring about the consequences" since, as I pointed out in the first line of my original post: I fully expected this thread to be my last on Vizzed. And I still went for it, consequences be damned. Also, I find no problem with people who are dressing differently to act a part in, let's say, a movie or play or game or whatever. Someone being paid for embodying a character, like in... I think the show's called RuPaul's Drag Race? Literally a competition for dressers of drag. Haven't watched it, but that's mainly because I hate Netflix (it crashes my computer too often to be worth using). But when a person actually BELIEVES they are that character, that's a problem. Wouldn't you think Tom Hanks was strange if you told him you loved how he acted in Forrest Gump and his reply was "What are you talking about? I AM Forrest Gump"? tgags123 : You can't just say that without telling the story of your past. I don't want to pry, but... curious now. Darn you! Alright, I've given this a few hours to stew, and I'm honestly impressed and happy so many people are stating their minds.
Maguc : Firstly, I should point out that I grew up without internet, and still enjoy life better when I'm not on it (ironic that I say this through the internet, right?). That being said, the inability to even browse a place like Youtube without hearing the same song and dance every week gets tiring. It's not that I believe what I'm hearing, it's that others do. And what I see online is actually affecting what people talk about in real life. Secondly, as far as the "vocal minorities and small scale groups" go, I urge you to read into my response to tgags and I will expound on it. Third, trading letters is honestly just as bad, if you think about it. It's still a piece of paper. Doesn't matter that you're trading paper with a real human, the emotion you're feeling stems from the existence or absence of a piece of paper, or even what is written on it. But after all this, I read each of your posts, and I'm glad you even took it upon yourself to fact-check the NYC fine (even though even if it's limited to "attacks and discrimination" it isn't hard in today's society for someone to claim that an accidental misgendering "felt like an attack" or "was in itself, discrimination") but I digress. From now on, you have my respect (or rather, I will respect whatever text comes attached to the name "Maguc" since I'll likely never meet you lol). tgags123 : I actually wrote that first rant when I was 18 or 19. That was prevalent then, but you are correct. Even I notice complaints happening far less than they used to (on the flip side, I wrote the final rant minutes before posting the thread). I do respect that even though we don't always agree on every point I made, you had the decency to consider each bulletpoint thoughtfully. Btw, the idea that that "very vocal minority" exists is what I was ranting about. Before the internet was as widely-available as it is today, that "very vocal" group wouldn't have existed, because the second one single person spoke up like that, they'd be dismissed immediately and thrown in jail. Nowadays, they're given a nightly news slot or articles in magazines. Books by them are being published. And it all stems from the fact that individual thought is reinforced when the internet tells you others think like you do. Gingercream1 : Of course not everyone is an SJW, I'm not talking about everyone, I'm talking about those that DO claim to be an SJW. Ignorant I am not, but it's because I've deeply read into the plights and problems these people claim exist that I'm now confused as to what the argument is even about. Most are advocating for issues that have been fixed for decades to be fixed once again. It's nonsense. I'd love to hear a bit more of your thoughts towards the rest of what I discussed as well, if you want. Furret : And yet I'm 28-years old. Thank you for being so mature at such a young age, although it hurts to say that lol. I fully understand where you, Light Knight, and Zlinqx are coming from, the "live and let live, it doesn't affect my life" kinda style. I get it. I'm glad you feel that way. Lexatom : Well, Zlinqx replied. Very respectfully, I might add. Do you have any thoughts on anything I talked about, though? ![]() Zlinqx : I'm glad people are voicing their opinions too, whether they agree or disagree. I hope I don't get suspended from Vizzed for mass-liking nearly every post here. Anyway, to the meat of your post: For the most part, I agree with everything, and you put it in a way I couldn't detail myself if I was given hours. That said, I am going to point out that I hold no issue with people who've actually switched sexes. Those who've finished the conversion, or are even actively going through said conversion. However, I hold extreme contempt towards those who simply "want" to, or are "saving up" because usually (in my experience) that's a lie. Yes, this includes Drag or anyone who simply dresses up as the opposite sex and then demands to be called that as if they were. As far as the internet goes, all I'll add to what I originally said is this: If a person is shy or socially inept, is conversing with words on a screen really the most beneficial therapy? In other words, for someone afraid of heights, isn't boarding a flight a more helpful solution? Getting someone used to the exact situation they fear most? ![]() Maguc : Firstly, I should point out that I grew up without internet, and still enjoy life better when I'm not on it (ironic that I say this through the internet, right?). If I get banned, it'd be because of this...
P.S. I will warn you. This is not personal to you. But parts may feel personal. Rant 1: Pre-Menstruation Frustration... I'm tired of hearing women complain about their period. Every time I point out their complaints I get the same retort: "What would you do if you bled out of your wiener every month?" Sorry, but if I learned that I'd be bleeding out of it every 28 days like clockwork from age 15 to age 40, I'd find a way to come to grips with it real fast and learn to plan it out. And if the process of bleeding made my crotch, stomach, and head hurt, then so be it. I'd find something to do sitting down, instead of finding problems with everyone else as if they caused the bleeding. - Rant 2: If Christianity is the true way, buying a Bible is a Sin... The Bible is the #1 Best-Selling book in history... But that's the problem! You'd think, if the Bible was the ACTUAL written word of God, that His book should never be sold for profit, right? Using this logic, I'm pretty sure selling the Holy Bible is in the same category as "Sin" as well. - Rant 3: It's not sexism if you don't have a gender to hate... I find it ironic that there's a political movement nowadays pushing pro-transexual agendas which includes backlash towards those with dissenting opinions, to which a common-enough argument towards "cis-hets" (those who accept their chromosomes) is for the dissenter to "stay in their assigned lane" a.k.a learn your place. But the whole existence of the transexual movement started when a guy/girl began to transition towards the opposite sex, but decided that "being in the middle" should be an option too. Sounds to me like the ones who need to "stay in their lane" are the ones who are currently driving on the yellow line. Doesn't matter if you merge, but stick to a single side as to not cause confusion. Even funnier when a purgatory-transexual claims that people who refuse to have sex with same-genital people (because they aren't attracted to similar genitals) are sexist because "my genitals don't define me!" True, but they do define who's willing to f*** you. Don't judge others if you don't want others judging you. - Rant 4: The Internet brought out the worst in people, and I support the exact limitations and restrictions most internet-users fear. Merely three decades ago, a person was considered crazy if they made friends with a book, or a picture. That sounds crazy, even as I say it, right? Words themselves can't truly be called friends, even if those words are being written by a real person. But when "animelover237" appears in your Discord bar, that little chime plays, and "wats up?" appears in front of you, somehow that causes a person to feel... warmth? and stay at their computer for HOURS longer than if they just wanted to play a game? People actually DATE words on a screen, even though the person behind those words will never meet face-to-face! You're feeling attraction to words on a screen! Find and befriend real people, otherwise the human population will never continue! Merely three decades ago, a person who wanted to dress as and actually pretend to be an animal would honestly be considered mentally insane. Even more insane if that person wanted to have sex with an animal, or even have sex dressed as an animal with another person dressed as an animal! Doesn't that sound like there's a severe screw loose? How does the "There's something mental that went wrong" aspect change just because others exist that are also like that? Something mental clearly went wrong, why does everyone ignore this mutation like it's ok or funny? Merely three decades ago, a person who shouted "Kill all whites!"" or "Kill all men!" or anything similar would be damned and criticized or thrown in jail for terrorist threats! Now there are movements RALLYING behind this EXACT sexism and racism that would've been unheard of merely three decades ago! Now we call these terrorists "Social Justice WARRIORS???" These people are criminal operatives! Please share your thoughts. I wont judge you for hating me. Currently each forum category has 6 forums. The request page mentions there may be a future reduction/merger to 5 forums each. These are my opinions on which forums should be addressed/combined.
Town Square: - Remove the "Information" forum. Reason: Why is this a dedicated forum? Put these topics in the FAQ and Help Center. There's only like 6 threads in this entire "forum" anyway. Vizzed Ville North: - Combine "News and Current Events" with "Debate/Logic/News Discussion". Reason: They're the same basic thing anyway. Nobody would be surprised to see the topics in one of these forums be posted in the other. It probably wouldn't even get moved. NEWS IS IN BOTH NAMES AS WELL!!! Gamers Circle: - Combine "Pokemon" and "Video Game Franchises". Reason: Pokemon is a franchise. Enough said. Entertainment Avenue: - Combine "Movies" with "Television". Reason: They're so close to the same thing. Movies have TV show spinoffs anyway (Limitless, for example), and you can watch movies on television anyway. Streaming sites host movies AND tv shows both, as well. Vizzed.com: - Combine "Game Discussion" and "Game Articles". Reason: Um... Don't game articles... discuss games...? Vizzed Ville South: - Remove "Polls and Questions". Reason: It got tricky here. At the end of the day, most Polls relate to something in another forum anyway. And they're not as prolific as they once were (or at least they don't seem to be). You could likely combine this with General Chat or with each individual thread's relevant section and it'd be fine. Foe me, sometimes... I just... CARE too much!!! *sheds tear* /sarcasm
Really though, Honestly is mine. No, seriously. I will literally put the NEED for honesty above every single other consequence that may be caused from that honesty. I'm not afraid to appear abrasive. I'm not afraid to sound arrogant. I'm not afraid to cause conflict. If someone wants my opinion, or a question answered, count on me to say it honestly. Above all consequences. I've ruined relationships, almost got in multiple fights, caused my best friend to despise me, caused breakups (both my own and other people's), and drove multiple wedges between me and my own family. All because I'd rather do ANYTHING except lie. Makes it really difficult to make friends. And keep them. So, now that that's off my chest, what's YOUR deepest flaw? Really though, Honestly is mine. Ok so I'm gonna hold another contest because... Why not. So here's the deal:
Rules as always: 1. You, the contestant, fill in the bubbles for one (or more) of the blank manga pages. Anything goes, as long as you follow the same rules as Vizzed. 2. About a week deep into December (because I don't know what days I'm working then) is when I'll announce the results. Let's say the 7th will be results day! (but it could also be the 8 or 9th...) 3. Bonus points for funny, surprising, or insightful submissions. Showing you actually TRIED to make me laugh or cry or get scared or whatever immediately puts you higher on the ranking list. 4. Enjoy yourself! Arbitrary Prizes: 1st Place winner - 2,000 Viz 2nd Place - 800 Viz 3rd Place - 100 Viz Here are your pages to fill as you see fit: Submission 1 is from "Lilim Kiss". Submission 2 Don't remember which manga this is from. If you wanted to know, sorry. Submission 3 is from "Blade Play" I think. Pretty sure. Submission 4 is from "Mayo Chiki". Submission 5 is from "Gou-Dere Bishoujo Nagihara Sora". Rules as always: 1. You, the contestant, fill in the bubbles for one (or more) of the blank manga pages. Eirinn : This could and should become a real Card Game. Like a box game e.g. "Munchkin", "Apples to Apples", or "Fact or Crap" that you could buy at a hobby shop for, like, $19.99 or so. Depends on how much is added to the game. |

Lazlo Falconi : Lol no. Let me introduce you to the concept of Play-By-Web, which is the "official" term for what I've been talking about. I've played a few games that were this style online, but none that have been purely text-based.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play-by-mail_game The first part refers to literal snail mail, the second part is about email or Private Messaging, the third is what I'm referring to for the Battle System. That's the style I've played before, and it's VERY effective for this type of thing. Also referred to as "asynchronous multiplayer" AKA you don't have to be playing at the EXACT same time. And if you think it hasn't been around for the last 20 years, let me show you Steam's page of NOTHING but "asynchronous multiplayer" games: http://store.steampowered.com/tag/en/Asynchronous%20Multiplayer/#p=0&tab=NewReleases Give me ONE reason turning the Battle System into a Play by Web-type game would be "difficult". All of the calculations would be handled automatically. Once players start a battle, their equipment would be locked so they can't change it to get an edge. And a bunch of other possibilities are possible with Play by Web. This is what I was talking about in my first post. It's a good method. Spread the word. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play-by-mail_game The first part refers to literal snail mail, the second part is about email or Private Messaging, the third is what I'm referring to for the Battle System.
