Ahh man, how do you guys get yourselves up there in points so fast? Especially in blue jersey. I guess I was lucky to get my green jerseys when I had the chance a few summers ago. I think I'll have to wait until activity drops slightly... Unless everyone else is banking on that strategy too.

DODGE!

I dodge the hammer, due to having a lower post count. Actually, my post count is pretty high here for me, as it's pretty rare for me to have 100+ posts on any site.

I swing my ban hammer at the user below for committing the crime of NOT being affected by 'laziness syndrome'

Yeah, I'm also surprised to see activity perk up. Personally, I still won't be too active on here, as I'm going to be busy with a college course for this month (I was unexpectedly accepted in at the last-second yesterday), but it's good to see that the forums haven't died yet. I imagine activity will slow once TdV is over, but there's going to be a summer TdV at least. I guess TdV = activity is how it's going to be for Vizzed? What's the most active non-TdV time for Vizzed?

Hey, these are pretty nice. It also makes me want to try pixel art again. I like the sprites for Mario, along with the Kermit the Frog portrait

I recommend playing Monolith. The name is a little hard to google, but you can find it on Steam. It's a fun game combining roguelite dungeon crawling with bullet hell shoot-em-ups, and it just received a DLC expansion that adds a lot of new content, along with some rebalancing (the game is said to be easier?)

I haven't played the DLC yet, but I can definitely recommend the base game. It's great, fast-paced fun, if pretty challenging.

Davideo7 : I don't receive any errors on the Vizzed website itself, but if I try to update screenshot details (such as category or description), I get a couple of errors on Firefox's console upon clicking on "Update Details for Screenshot" and my changes are not saved. Essentially, all it does is reload the page. Here is a screenshot of Firefox's console errors after attempting to update a screenshot for Smurfs - Nightmare for GBC. I've filtered the console log to only show output related to screenshot.php. I don't know much about website coding, so I'm not sure what the exact issues are, but I do hope this helps a little.

I made a post in an older thread speculating that this might be SSL certificate problems due to the mixed content errors in the log, but I'm not 100% sure now, as it seems that you have already fixed some related certificate issues around a month ago.

Lastly, I've noticed that a few users like no 8120 and DavidMcC1989 are still able to add categories and descriptions to their screenshots, so this might just be an issue on my end. I tried another browser (Google Chrome) but it still doesn't work. Here's a picture of the console output from Chrome just in case its needed.

About a week ago, I was playing the fan translation of Sutte Hakkun for the SNES. It's a fun little puzzle platformer that's really good at making its players feel stupid lol. I've beaten about 50 of the games 110 levels, and it's at the point where it's starting to take a long time to solve even a single level. I'm determined to beat it when I have the free time. I should have played more puzzle games.

I'll be going away on a trip for a few days, so I'm not sure if I'll do much of anything for TdV in the beginning, but I think I'll try to win at least one jersey this month. No promises though. I was surprised to win a few green jerseys over a year ago.

I always thought the yellow jersey was obtainable as long as a person is able to write one giant game review and post it. Write one review every day = Did anyone ever win with that strategy? Maybe I'll get off my lazy internet butt and do that lol.

Good to hear that it was fixed, though admittedly I hadn't noticed anything was wrong. I rated a screenshot a couple days ago, and it worked fine.

On the subject of screenshots, there's something that I'm still curious about: I've been unable to add descriptions or categories to screenshots for a couple months now. Is anyone else dealing with this issue?

Good to see another bug fixed on the site. I haven't played any RGR games recently, so I didn't notice the error though.

On a similar note, is expired SSL certificates also a cause for an error message on the screenshot page in Firefox's console? This is just me guessing, but here's something I noticed about Vizzed.com recently:

Using Firefox version 69.0.1 (64-bit), I can navigate to any RGR game where I've uploaded screenshots, (The Smurfs' Nightmare for example) I click on "Edit screenshot" on one of my pictures, and on the screenshot editing page, THIS error appears in Firefox's error console. The preceding link is a screenshot to the error message I receive in Firefox's console. I am unsure why the page is declared as "mixed/insecure content", but I do know that modern browsers don't like it when a website's SSL certificate is expired, like with what what happened recently with the RGR. Again, just taking a guess here.

I realize that my past couple posts have all been related to screenshot editing... Oops. I still hope you might find this post useful

In response to no 8120's post above, It's true that some MSX and C64 games don't work, but others work fine. I am not sure why, but if I had to guess, it could have something to do with the MESS emulator.

Hey, thanks for the fix! I was able to upload a screenshot for a VGR game. (this game to be exact)

However, I still cannot properly add screenshot details, which means any upload I try to do still has no description, category, or added characters. This is true for both RGR and VGR games. Also, a quick test of Atari 2600 screenshots shows that I still can't save pictures for that console. Pressing F6 shows the normal "screenshot upload complete" on the bottom of the page, but navigating to the screenshot uploading page of that 2600 game shows no new screenshots.

lordbelial669 : For now, the only thing I can suggest would be to disable the "hardware acceleration" setting in Firefox. You can do that by clicking on the three bars drop-down menu on the top right corner of Firefox, then click on "options" from the drop-down menu. In the options menu, scroll down until you find "Use hardware acceleration when available". If you can't find it, then you may have to uncheck "Use recommended performance settings" first.

There was a recent post on Vizzed about how hardware acceleration messes with the Vizzed RGR plugin, so this may be the same issue.

Has anyone else had the experience of getting sucked into a browser game? For some reason, I spent a few hours over two days playing (and beating) Epic Boss Fighter 2, a bullet hell shooter with an emphasis on upgrading your character and getting stronger. In some ways, it's cool to watch your guy grow stronger, squeeze past bullets and destroy bosses with extremely high DPS, special attacks, etc. Unfortunately, the game is designed to be a bit of a time sink, in that you must keep up with upgrading your character to beat the game, otherwise you'll be too weak to survive, which means there's a bit of grinding involved with buying the more powerful, expensive upgrades. A brief aside: I imagine it's difficult to properly balance an upgrade-based game. Ideally, no player should end up feeling too weak if they made a few bad upgrade choices, but there should be a clear difference between even a starting player and a moderately upgraded player.

The final boss was disappointing too, because all your damage upgrades are invalidated by the boss, who must be defeated through alternative means instead.

Ah well, the game has cool music, the bullet dodging was fun, and there was some cool boss fight concepts. I guess I need to be more careful not to get addicted to online games in the future lol. Just some thoughts at night.

A black screen (with sound) could be a lot of different kinds of issues. I can't guarantee I'll be able to figure out what's wrong with your Vizzed emulation stuff, but I can offer a guess:

Around a week ago, I had issues loading the Vizzed RGR plugin (I use Firefox on Windows 7). I would get a black screen but with no sound. Somehow, I was able to fix it by reinstalling the Vizzed RGR plugin, so I guess the first thing you could try would be to reinstall the Vizzed RGR plugin. Do the other emulators on Vizzed work? Like RetroArch.

This reminds me of something a few years back. I uploaded some screenshots for the SMW hack "The 7th Annual VLDC Collaboration Hack" and all of the descriptions and categories were erased at some point. I don't remember the exact date it happened, but I know it wasn't after December 2017. Not sure if this info will be useful, but just putting it out there.

no 8120 : I have noticed through your recent uploads that you are still able to add screenshot descriptions/categories, while I'm still not able to add any screenshot info myself. I have tried numerous kinds of consoles, tried different browsers (Firefox and Chrome) but the result is the same: I can upload pictures, but I'm not able to to add any screenshot info. Like you said, some consoles like Atari 2600 and Commodore 64 don't seem to allow for any screenshots at all. Also, I have been able to play MSX and MSX2 games, but a few of them don't seem to work, like Aleste on MSX2. I also can't seem to take any screenshots for the MSX consoles either.

For now, I guess I'll just wait for a fix. I guess these are just the "growing pains" of overhauling the screenshot submissions.

Hi, it's been a while since I did stuff on Vizzed. It's good to see that the screenshot feature is being worked on. I'd like to report a few issues I ran into with the new screenshot submission/edit pages: It seems that I cannot take/upload any pictures for Atari 2600 games. I also cannot change the description, change the category, or add characters to any other screenshots I've already uploaded, 2600 or not. I was able to successfully upload a high score for a 2600 game though, so that aspect of screenshot uploading still works. I also accidentally uploaded two pictures for the game Super Mario Advance 3 Color Restoration, and I cannot change the description, add characters, or add a category on those two uploads.

Also, I don't really have anywhere else to post this, so I'll say it here: it's too bad to see what happened to the screenshot contest over the last two years. I had intended to compete in at least the 2018 contest, but I've just been generally busy with life and I haven't had any time to dedicate to the contests. I probably won't have time to compete in any Vizzed competitions in the near-future (if they happen), but I do hope there's still some sort interest in them. Though it sounds like they have been suspended until further notice.

Lastly, are there any plans to make the Retro Game Room games have a screenshot upload process similar to the Video Game Room games? As in, users don't need to use the RGR plugin to take pictures and upload them—they can just pick screenshots from their hard drives to upload. I am not sure if that might open up the screenshot feature for potential abuse, though.

Oh man, this contest was intense. I had fun with it, though. My only regret was resting on my laurels early on. I submitted loads of pictures in the beginning, and since nobody else was competing for a long time, I stopped and almost forgot about the contest... until I noticed Yuna1000 had resumed with screenshots. I think she submitted nearly all those pictures in only 4 or so days, which is crazy impressive. I also missed stuff I probably should have remembered (Shin-chan ), but that's just the way the game goes.

Congratulations to Yuna1000 : the true Screenshot Adder. See you next year!

I've had lots of trouble loading games yesterday and today. I thought it was my internet connection, but games as small as 200kb will not load at all. The Vizzed RGR loading screen just loops back to 0%

EDIT: To clarify, while I'm pretty sure my connection is making the games download slowly, I wait as long as 30+ minutes to download some 200kb game, and when it's almost done downloading, the entire progress bar gets erased. Not sure why that happens.
