Crazy Li, as I have read, has a lot of helpful information. If there are any other questions you may have about what you are trying to get done, feel free to message me or post in here and shoot me a notification. The reason I refer to myself as a great source of information is because I am going to school and getting my degree in Game Production.
At my school I have learned the basics of Actionscr That said, once again, I don't mind helping you out with some information. So please feel free to contact me. ![]() At my school I have learned the basics of Actionscr That said, once again, I don't mind helping you out with some information. That's actually a pretty good idea. Life just gets so crazy its hard to just remember and get to the site. I'm going to have to try and do that. Just school and work are my time eaters, oh yeah and my girlfriend. ![]() Good thing she's a hot nerd that is gamer and loves anime/reading. That way she's cool with how I use my time, which is mainly video games haha. ![]() Good thing she's a hot nerd that is gamer and loves anime/reading. Ha, yeah. It's pretty hard to stick around because all of my energy is put into my classes. Today I just finished the last day of this term. Very stressful, but I'm alive haha.
Its nice to see that you stick around Geeo, every time I come back you are like the first to say what's up. I really really really do want to try and stick around more. Yeah man, it's been a long time since I've posted. I tend to do this all the time where I am inactive and pop in every once in a while. But its always great to see that I am not forgotten when I do. I agree that it is crazy looking how far back on Vizzed's early days.
It's nice to hear from you geeogree. Haha, I remember when we use to be close with our post count so I started tracking you on the post radar way back. I still have it tracking you and now I'm 18079 posts away. Crazy. It's OK though. I'm glad you're still active, I really want to be. Things are just busy, but that is not an excuse. I should put in the time. I know I've said this before many times, but everything that happens starts as an idea. So I will continue to put the idea out there and hopefully I will stay motivated to follow through and be apart of this forum for good. Thanks for the luck though man, I'm working hard and everything is going very well. The real world has hit me pretty hard, but I do understand that there will be more too it once I graduate and no longer have school anchored into my schedule. Alas, I am prepared for whatever may come and am excited for whatever my come my way. Both positive and negative, I will conquer all the best way I can. Hey everyone, its me again. For those who are active and do not know me, over the years I've made a few of these posts. I've been a part of this site since I was 14 and now I am 22. Its always great to come back and realize how much of a powerhouse website Vizzed has become. This is always I site I can come back to. I always enjoy myself via retro games and reading what others have to say about all sorts of subjects.
Life is going great! I'm still going to school to get a Bachelors of Science in Game Production. I have about a year left and I'm hoping that I will land a job in the gaming industry. I'm going to have to choose a form of art to perfect because, at my school, they teach us every aspect in making a game. I've loaded a photo of the Deus Ex Sniper Rifle that I 3D modeled, just to show a little of what I've been working on. Yes, it is incomplete. I've also been programming in Actionscr I'm in my Texture and Lighting class right now, so I apologize for any jumbled up nonsense. I'm just excited to share my progress on the website that helped me begin my passion to make games via RPG Maker 98/2000 and beyond. I hope all of the older members are doing well! I also hope that all the new members are doing well and enjoying what Vizzedboard has become thus far. ![]() Image upload: 1920x1080 totaling 332 KB's. Life is going great! Yes, the Wii U was a very interesting piece of technology. I wasn't able to find any information on the PS4 or Xbox 720.
Halo 4 is using a new game engine away from the previous Halos. The mechanics can be guaranteed to change, but for the better. People say the feel is similar to Metroid and the reason can be due to the fact that a lot of the developers are actually from Metroid. They also wanted to focus the game play like Halo 2 because that was the most popular of them all. So we'll see. This E3 was definitely not a bust and better than most E3's previously. Tons of great games are coming out instead of the recent wave of crappy, buggy games. I definitely feel lucky that I was able to go. Halo 4 is using a new game engine away from the previous Halos. As the title to my thread insinuates, I did in fact get the opportunity to go to E3. Considering that I am a student at a school, Collins College, for video games, I was able to put in for a free pass to E3.
It was a great experience to check out where the industry and headed with the games and technology that is coming out. I was also able to network a little bit for when I complete my schooling. I would have to say that the best game there was "Planetside 2". The beta is coming out soon, so I suggest putting in your email at: www.planetside2.com Halo 4 was one of the biggest attractions at E3, next to the next Assassins Creed. Other big titles were Borderlands 2 and Resident Evil 6. There are others, of course, but those games stand out from the rest. The industry is headed in the right direction my friends. The future IS game. I suggest that, if you love video games, to go to school for it. If you cannot, definitely get involved with communities and learn how to become a producer of game. It is a tough journey no doubt, but it is well worth it and fun. If you are going to school for game, put in for a past next year and you'll get one free. If you have the money, buy a pass even though that are very expensive. It is a great experience that I feel that gamers should not miss. I, myself, will be going again next year. If anyone has any questions about what went on at E3 from my point of view. Feel free to ask and I'll do my best to inform you. E3 for the win! GameForce does seem like a better store due to the fact that you can test the game before you buy it.
Seems like my points were made previously. In a nutshell its a great store, just not the ideal place to sell your games/consoles. More importantly there are games that you can find at a gamestop that are treasures. I personally like to collect PS2 games and I find all sorts of great games there. My collection has reached over 100 different great games. Only thing I would add is that if you are an avid gamestop goer I'd suggest to become a poweruprewards member. You get a year membership fairly cheap which includes a year subscr I pre-order from there as well and they always have my copy and whatever little promotion the game company provides along with it. Also said previously, the employees are very knowledgeable people in games and are very friendly. As a matter of fact, a little note, the managers are actually sent to events like E3 to learn about the latest games and check them out firsthand. The employees are allowed to check out the games that come in as well. Most of the employees do this, so they have first hand experience in whatever game you may have a question about. Overall, going to gamestop is the better choice than other current stores in my opinion. Seems like my points were made previously. *UPDATE*
Games were turned in last Saturday, a lot of them turned out pretty bad, including mine. I did the artwork and my team just destroyed it because they decided not to finish it. Kinda makes me mad. I worked hard on getting them drawings to work with and they just decided to play Magic the card game. The programmer pixelated all the artwork in the game and some of the artwork to be edited was imported in the wrong format. Eh, lets just put into account that we had to do it ten days so whatever. There are good ones though, like....2, ha. You'll know the best one when you see it though. Hope you enjoy checkin' out these games. The site is: flash.games.local My game is named "MasterBlaster". Haha, yeah. The event didn't turn out how I imagined it. (does anything haha) but it was a good experience. The games will be voted on tomorrow (Monday, 26th) We'll see. My team pissed me off because we had a few bugs to work out and they all (5 of them) decided to play the card game Magic against each other instead. I would have got it done right if I knew what to do but I couldn't because I'm new to the whole thing. So I left. Haha. It's whatever.

I see. You can only get that explanation from someone who truly experienced it. I know what you mean. Everyone starts out great and as the semester/s go along. You start to see the "make or break" factors of staying start to really surface and sometimes it is the break factors that win. It is no doubt a good experience. I found my first two years a great growing period for me personally. My attitude and confidence in attacking this schooling head on is a product of these prior experiences. Yes I wasted my time chasing goals that ended up not being what I really wanted but I wouldn't be where I am now without them. I'm glad you're in a situation where you are one step closer to what you want to do or become, if you have not already. ![]() ![]() |

Oh wow, I see what you mean. There is a ton of money available to help students that need it though. It only leaves about 6.5k for students that qualify for the full loan/grant. I see also what could possibly cut cost. Unless this is not the case, wouldn't a student be able to rent out a place near the school and carpool or something to get to school? If so, that would be far more cheaper than 11,000 dollars for the year. All that is needed are a few diligent roommates that will split the cost and create the carpool system. If the case is that a student has to use the school's housing then never mind. I would have to say that that is messed up. From the name, it must be a private school. These schools tend to make these prices, even if they are not needed.

Last week a little competition started at my school known as the Game Bowl. This Game Bowl was created to have the students that wish to participate, to put their skills to the test in multiple teams to see which team can create the best game in 10 days. Each team and can be put together by students that wish to work together as their own team, or of students that are chosen by teachers via a draft. When I mention teachers, their involvement with the game bowl is fairly similar to the students. The difference is that they have more experience and are there to, in a sense, chaperon the teams they drafted in order to make sure the event goes smoothly and according to schedule. Of course, it doesn't hurt that their involvement in making the game is a great deal of help. To throw in mix into the whole event, there are "3 main ingredients" that need to be implemented into each team's game. This year the 3 ingredients were 80's boom box, Rainbow, and an audio clip that says, "say hello to my little friend!". Of course, a big rule is no copy write material is allowed in the game, so things have to be different enough to be out of reach of that law. (The audio clip, my team feels, if pushing that boundary so we are making a variation.)
In this year's Game Bowl, I am participating. It is my first Game Bowl simply because I am a new student to this school. My skills are very limited, but they encourage new students to try and get involved. It is great in helping them learn the process and, more importantly, learn how to execute the process. I have learned a lot participating in this event and feel that it is a great experience. There are only 2 days left until game launch (Saturday, 24th). My part on my team, due to my limited skill set, is the game art that will be implemented into the game. Now that there are only 2 days left, I have finished all of my artwork. I am just a spectator waiting to see how the rest of my team pulls it together. The pieces of art that I drew for the game were the character main character, enemies, interacting objects, and backgrounds (5 layers). Upon completion, I scanned and emailed the work to the photoshop artist as well as the game programmer. The photoshop artist is almost done filling in all the colors and touches for the final look of the game. The photoshop artist then sent it to the animator to help the final art concepts move. The programmer used these unedited sketches to build the a perspective of the level layout and feel of the game. He also used them to help him see how to put in each element of the game like scaling for all visuals, placements, and movements. Later he will just simply replace the sketches with the real thing. Overall, I just can't wait for it to be done, other than those three jobs I mentioned, there are a few more aspects that other team members are working on. I hope to see those work out as well. The winners of the Game Bowl mainly get bragging rights, but this year I feel like it will be a much better prize. My reason is that, interestingly enough, Game Informer Magazine (GI) is going to be covering this event Saturday. So I'm getting the winners will perhaps get a little photo put in GI's magazine. We'll see if my team wins! The biggest lesson I learn from this event is that it shows how much effort really goes into a game. It definitely involves are great amount of time and effort. That is, if you wish to create a well made game. All of the students involved don't expect perfect games because of this 10 day time limit, but it will definitely get a great conclusion to the Game Bowl to see what we all came up with. Once again, I am very excited to see the final product of everything. These games will be posted online for anyone to play. I will let everyone know what this site will be named following a link of how to get there. If you feel that these games suck just remember, it was only a 10 day project with, in some cases, strangers to make these games. But once you play them, I do hope you enjoy them. Feel free to ask me any questions about the event itself, the school, or a post-mortem of what my team went through to make the game. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it and are excited just as much as I am for the finale! In this year's Game Bowl, I am participating. |

No worries man, I can take humor and more importantly dish it out every once in a while! Haha.
Yeah, it's quite a bit of stuff to do but nonetheless its something that I want to do. Heck yeah I'm getting the full experience; experience is a key component in the gaming industry. The more you have, the better. Plus, since I'm paying this much money, I'm going to use it to its fullest potential! What was the name of this college? It must have been prestige or out of state tuition to cost that much. If it's not an out of state situation, then they must be a private school just like mine. Considering, private school don't tend to follow the code of cheaper tuition for state residency type students. If neither of those two are the reason for that price. Quite frankly, that's ridiculous. But no doubt Financial Aid helps out. I myself use this method; lets say, I'm going to have a lot of loans to pay off afterward. It is safe to add though, my father's Veteran Aid (VA) helps out a ton. Yeah, it's quite a bit of stuff to do but nonetheless its something that I want to do. Hahaha, sorry I have a habit of using the enter key to use the next window for writing. Sadly, this mistake leaves blank posts in making threads as well as leaving private messages. Don't worry, I'll get back into the swing of things. Sorry, once again. ![]() ![]() |

Hey Everyone, it's Cookieman here. I know I haven't been the most active member but it's always nice to pop in and share a few things!
So currently a lot of my time has been going into my schooling. I have two years of college under my belt now. I am currently at my fourth college, Collins College. I'm on week 5 of my first quarter of my first term here and so far, I love it! It's a great environment that promotes creativity. Only downside is that it is $12,600 a school year, but after doing some research, it's not that bad of a price. My classes for this quarter are: Environmental Science (Prerequisite) Drawing Basics I (Core class) Survey of the Game Industry (Core class) The school's goal is to put every student on the right path toward their desired profession by teaching the student all the aspects of that profession. They have a variety of art degrees at this school and I find myself in the Game Production course. By graduation I will have a Bachelors of Science. So far I have all A's and I plan on keeping it that way. I'm going for the Dean's List, it will help me earn some scholarship money to help pay for my schooling at Collins. Even though these classes are basic, I take them serious because they are key components of building a firm foundation as a game producer. Better yet, it will help me to become a more proficient, well rounded professional in this field. To even think about the future gets me worked up and excited to move along through this program. I'm hoping that I can possibly use/show some of the skills I learn in school to help with the site, if David does not mind, and to show other individuals and help them achieve the same skills I'm am achieving and soon to achieve. That is just a basic of what I have been doing just very recently. If any of you wish to know more about my other schools, or my reasons of hoping around or whatever it is that you want more detail involving my schooling. Please, feel free to ask. I will do my best to pop in, here and there, to help settle those burning questions. Thanks for reading a deal that is all about me. It feels good to sit down and express myself again. ![]() So currently a lot of my time has been going into my schooling. I have two years of college under my belt now.
