Back to Not-so-Basics (WARNING: VERY LONG REVIEW!)
Ohhhhhhhhhhh boy, where do I begin with this game. That's a rhetorical question, because as always I'm gonna start by reintroducing myself as UncleBalrog, the guy who does game reviews. And really wants a name change!
I've lowered the gap between reviews from over a year to about a day or two, whether or not this is permanent is up to my motivation and whether or not I feel like some games on here really NEED reviews. Seriously, there's a LOT of game reviews on this board! But I feel this is a game that is so noteworthy that no number of reviews can accurately capture what an expansive behemoth of a game this really is. The fact that it's a Mega Man game just makes the "expansive behemoth" part seem a bit unrealistic.

But without any doubt, the concept of Quality over Quantity is a concept that Mega Man games are no stranger to. Following my experimental reviewing strategy, I'm gonna tackle this one with a much more optimistic attitude than I did with... *Elongated breath intake* ...Oracle of Seasons... Grr...

THE PROS (There's tons!!)
-A faithful, true successor to the Mega Man franchise for the NES (Seriously, it's part of that same timeline.)
-Takes the series in a MUCH darker direction than the original series did, which I like quite a bit.
-Removes the awkward gimmicks that piled up on one another from Mega Man 3 and onwards (Rush adapter, Bolts, etc.) while having the same core gameplay, at least at first.
-Adds two very simple maneuvers to the game that change almost EVERYTHING about how you play it.
-A far more in-depth and rewarding upgrade system, especially compared to using Bolts to pay for stuff.
-Definitely one of the best soundfonts out of any SNES game I've played, even more so than its own sequels.
-An actual engaging storyline that leaves room for imagination as well as smooth continuation.
-Overall a much better game by itself than all of the classic Mega Man games combined in my o... Read the rest of this Review

How to blatantly mess up your game engine!
It's been about an entire year since I last posted a review. Or...anything, really. I planned on reviewing the entire Megaman Zero series, but I guess that never... *Sunglasses* ROLLED around!
...Uh yeah my point is it's good to be back, guys. No cheesy jokes this time, none of that pretending-to-be-funny-by-making-obscure-references crap I tried to pull with my other reviews. Despite how wonderfully cringe-worthy they are.
ON WITH THE REVIEW!! Whee...

Something to clear up: I'll be straight with you guys. I do NOT like this game. Like, I really really don't like this game, even though the Zelda series is by far one of my personal favorites. The reasons for this will be explained in due time, if you'd kindly read the rest of this review.

For starters, I'm gonna switch up my approach to doing these reviews. I'm not gonna judge them based on my admittedly biased opinions for certain game franchises, and I'm also going to list pros and cons before the actual evaluation procedures begin. Without further ado, here we go.

THE PROS
-Definitely a Zelda game at its core, uses the same free item assignment system that Link's Awakening used
-It honestly puzzled me at times, in some good ways too
-The GBC allowed for graphical improvements, if only by adding color
-New tunes were pretty nice

THE CONS (Kind of a lot for the cons because I'm a pessimist)
-Same engine as Link's Awakening with minor tweaks, and BAD tweaks too (explained in evaluation)
-Lazily reused graphics ripped directly from LA, even those without actual color
-Lazily reused sound effects, music tracks, and even quotes at times that are, once again, ripped straight from LA
-Felt too much like some sort of alternate-universe (or Twilight Zone, if you hate this game as much as I do) instead of its own stand-alone game
-Linking process that is required for the true ending is tedious and costly, and honestly not worth i... Read the rest of this Review

A Very Celebrational Mega Man Zero 2 Review
It's UncleBalrog yet again with another review!! Getting sick of these yet? Well too bad. This is going to be another very special game review, for two reasons. The first is that this is the next game in the amazing Mega Man Zero series, my favorite in the franchise. The second reason is that this review will be my 10th post on the esteemed VizzedBoard!!! That's right, the day after I post this review will be the day I become a Normal Member on VizzedBoard! I'm pretty excited to finally be elevated to Normal Member, as I love VizzedBoard and I've been a Newbie for about 7 months...it's pretty funny if you ask me. I didn't start posting until recently, so that's why I haven't been elevated to Normal Member for so long. Either way, you came here for the review and not my life story, so let's get to it!

Graphics: The Graphics get a solid rating of 8, and here's why I think that.  The graphics for the first Zero game were pretty freakin' good for a mere Game Boy Advance title. Mega Man Zero 2, on the other hand, adds plenty of new animations and sprites for almost all the characters, most notably for Zero. I'll explain the new sprites for Zero later in the review, so don't worry. One more thing about the graphics though. I've never experienced ANY graphical glitches at all with this game. None whatsoever.

Sound: The Sound gets a very high 9, both for being awesome and improving significantly over the first Zero game's soundtrack. If you played the first Mega Man Zero game, you'd notice quite a few sketchy tracks for the music. Some of it was even a tad lackluster, even though I gave it such a high rating when I reviewed it a few days ago. They almost completely changed all the "instruments" they used in the first game, and for whatever reason it sounds far better. They also updated quite a few of the sound effects as well. The first one you'll probably recognize is the sound effect for Z-Saber slashes. It sou... Read the rest of this Review

A Very Special Megaman Zero Review
Hey guys, it's UncleBalrog again. Yep, another game review. However, instead of reviewing stuff like I usually do, (you know, just kinda telling you about the game and moving on...yeah, it's pretty boring >:T) I'm gonna do something a little different. This game is a rather special game to me, so not only am I going to review this game, (not like I normally do!! :P) I'm also going to explain exactly why this game is da freaking bomb(man)! See what I did there? Ah whatever, let's get to the review--and the Why This Game is da Freaking Bomb!

Graphics: I'm gonna give this game a 9+ in Graphics. You know why? The game is beautiful for a Game Boy Advance game, or even a Megaman game for that matter. The sprites have very smooth and defined motions, with the exception of a few NPCs. (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, CIEL!) Heck, even the enemies have very good sprites. I slapped the + on there after the 9 because of a little thing they did in the intro stage, where you protect Ciel. This is a bit of a spoiler but near the end of the intro stage, Ciel walks on an "unassuming platform" and states that it's a dead end. The "unassuming platform" then proceeds to crumble, and Zero dashes to grab Ciel. They fall down a very long pit, and while doing so, they used a certain frame of Zero's jumping sprite and placed it close to a sprite for Ciel, which made it look as if Zero was carrying Ciel down the pit. Boy that was hard to explain, but if you go ahead and play the game you'll understand what I mean. Also, I LOVE the new art style for this series, 'nuff said. NOW LET'S GET ON WITH IT!!!

Sound: Another 9...this time without a plus. I've gotta say, I was very impressed with the music in this game. Not only that, the sound effects were unique and they all sounded pretty cool. Like I've stated in previous game reviews, the thing I look for most in VGM is how well it fits in with the current situation, or location, or mood that the music is being ... Sonic 2 Heroes

Sonic 2, but with more heroes!
It's UncleBalrog bringing you another review for a game! Yeah, it's another Sonic game, but this time it's a hack of a Sonic game. A very good hack at that, and let's find out why!
Sypnosis: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a game we all know and love that involves platforming, rings, and most importantly, SPEED. The whole deal with Sonic is that you're insanely fast. So after this game rolled around, time goes by, and a lot of it too. A game for the PS2 and Gamecube was made called Sonic Heroes. This game let you switch between the members of a 3-man (or animal?) team that had different abilities. The members were either Speed Type, Flying Type, or Power Type (it's been a while since I played Sonic Heroes so don't complain if I got that wrong...) Sonic 2 Heroes is a ROM hack of, you guessed it, Sonic 2 for the Sega Genesis. It pretty much combines Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic Heroes by adding a new mechanic to the game, which is the ability to actively switch between Sonic Tails and Knuckles, just like in Sonic Heroes. Each character has their abilities from their classic Sega Genesis days, but Sonic got a few updates to make him play like he did in Sonic 3. He also gets to use the Homing Attack when he gets the standard Blue Shield, which is AWESOME. But let's get to the real review, shall we?

Graphics: I originally thought about giving this a 7, but then I noticed the new sprites for the Sonic 3 shields. Since these weren't even in Sonic 2 to begin with, I gave it an 8 for adding graphically new graphical graphics that are graphically appealing. In a graphical sense, that is. Graphically...

Sound: I also gave this an eight, simple because Sonic 2's music is incredibly catchy and cool. (They also added more sound effects for Knuckles and the shields!)

Addictiveness: The original Sonic 2 would be getting an 8 for this. I'm giving it a 9 cos' the amount of updates this game made to the original Sonic 2 are just wonderful! ... Read the rest of this Review
Tails Adventures

Tails Adventure?
It's UncleBalrog here again with another game review! This time, it's for a rather obscure game in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. It's actually not about Sonic though. It's about his two-tailed yellow fox sidekick, Miles 'Tails' Prower. Just to let you know, this one of my favorite games in the entire Sonic franchise, despite it being one of the more obscure ones in the series. It's named Tails Adventure. If you can guess what this game entails, I'll give you ten bucks. Here's a hint, Tails goes on an adventure. Okay no money for you. But anyway, let's get to the review!

Graphics- This game is on the Sega Game Gear, which was pretty much Sega's NES. Tails Adventure was not the first Sonic game to make it to the Game Gear, but unlike most of them, this game didn't simply reuse Tails' sprite sheet from the previous games. They actually made Tails have his own animations for everything, and my god they are cute as hell. Tails is almost as cute as Kirby in this game. I'm serious, his sprites are that good. I also like the backgrounds for the stages, as well as the enemy and boss sprites. However ,the only reason that I don't give this a 10 is that in some stages, the blocks that you can bomb are VERY hard to see, and you'll find yourself missing a lot of items that you WILL need later in the game. Otherwise the graphics are excellent for the Game Gear.

Sound- I enjoyed this game's soundtrack a lot. All the tracks fit the area they were played in, and I also love the overall mood that it instills. It has pretty good tunes too. That is actually all I have to say about the sound in this game. I like it.

Addictiveness- The first thing you need to notice about this game is that it isn't based on speed. In fact, this game has something that almost no Sonic game has ever, EVER had. Backtracking. That's right, for once in a Sonic game you can move BACKWARDS. But that aside, this game is in a sort of Metroidvania setup. If you don't k... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon Rebirth

GREAT Hack!
Hello, it's UncleBalrog here with another review! This one is for a hacked ROM for Pokémon Emerald, labeled Pokémon Rebirth. Now, I'll tell you, Pokémon Emerald is an outstanding game on its own. Really, it is. However, along with Pokémon Emerald 386, this is by far the best hack of it ever created. It doesn't really alter the gameplay in any way, nor does it alter music, or the story. It does, however, alter...or should I say, ADD, some new graphics. This version of Pokémon Emerald lets you, quite literally, catch em' all. You can catch all Pokémon up to Generation III, where the actual game takes place. So, let me cover the categories.                                                                                                             Graphics: The original Pokémon Emerald had some great in-battle graphics for the Pokémon who are battling. The moves they learn also have some pretty cool graphics. However, the Pokémon who didn't have remastered sprites for Pokémon Emerald, now have sprites that are updated to look almost exactly how Emerald would execute them. The execution for these new Pokémon sprites was superb, and not many hacks can do this very well. However, I give the graphics an 8 simply because the outside-battle trainer sprites were...well, lackluster.
Sound: The music in this game is the same as in Pokémon Emerald. So, I'll just review Emeralds music I guess. The music in Emerald was an interesting change from it's predecessor, Pokémon FireRed. I love the turn it took. The music sounds great, and there were many lovable tracks. For example, when you battle the enemy team's boss. Sound gets a 9!

Boktai 3 - Sabata's Counterattack (English Translation)

A Superb Game
Hello people, today I'll be reviewing a previously Japanese only game for the GameBoy Advance, Boktai 3: Shin Bokura no Taiyo. This game is the third installment in Konami's Action/Stealth RPG, Boktai. This game was made exclusively for Japan, but now on Vizzed we have a translated ROM so we in other countries can enjoy this wonderful game. The entire Boktai series has been a completely innovative and cool feature--in the game Game Pak itself! It has the Solar Sensor, a bar on the end of the Game Pak that detects the intensity of sunlight and uses it in-game to incorporate aspects of the game such as recharging energy, regulating weather, and opening hidden passages illuminated by a certain intensity of light. However, this great innovation is most certainly not all this game has to offer you, whether in terms of content, or entertainment.

You play as the Solar Boy Django, a vampire hunter who wields the Gun Del Sol, or Solar Gun. The Solar Sensor allows you to recharge your energy, which you use to fire the Gun Del Sol. Depending on how intense the sunlight is, you can overheat and risk heat exhaustion. You can only charge your energy when you are in direct sunlight. For example, you can charge freely if you are outside and the sun is out. But if you are inside a dungeon or a building, you can only charge in places where the sun shines through, like skylights. This forces you to conserve your energy and not use the gun too much. As you adventure, you can find new parts for the Solar Gun like frames and lenses. These add new features and firing techniques. There are so many ways you can go about shooting your enemies with all the parts you can obtain, but there is also stealth elements in this game. Some parts in the game involve solving a puzzle while avoiding being seen by an enemy, as the said enemy is at an ex... Read the rest of this Review
