Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 - Cobi's Journey

Screw Pokemon
It's been a year now, since my last (And only...) review (So far...). I promised a review and a review you people shall get. This time I'm reviewing a game from one of the most unknown yet exciting series,
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2: Cobi's Journey. Released for the Game Boy Colour, this little gem is one of my personal favourites. The original, Dragon Warrior Monsters, was awesome in it's own right.
In the game, you take on the role of a monster tamer, and you have to build this team of monsters to help you fight the evil guy. JRPG's, am I right? There are more than 100 monsters in the game, and breeding plays a major role.
The game also has a sister game, in which you play as... the sister. There are some slight differences between the two games, and different monsters, too. Like Pokémon Gold and Silver.
That's the game in a nutshell, I guess. Now onto the review!

GRAPHICS: 8
In the game's defense, this is the Game Boy Colour we're talking about. But the game did an excellent job of capturing each monster's individual characteristics. The over world sprites were good, too. You can actually differentiate whether the sprite is old or young, male or feminine, monster or human!
Speaking of monster over world sprites, they have each and every one of the monsters as sprites. Compared to the Pokémon Gen 2 Pokémon Sprites, the DWM2 sprites beat them by a mile.
The lands and terrain were magnificently portrayed through the graphics themselves. They didn't take shortcuts, either. Compare a square of sand and a square of snow and you can see more than different colours.
For a GBC game, this game did great.

SOUND: 7
I'm not much of a game music fan. Sometimes, I even mute the game, and open a custom Marina and The Diamonds playlist instead.
But this game? I can still remember the sound when I'm fighting wild monsters. I can recall the sound it gives when I successfully convince a monster to join me. Ev... Read the rest of this Review
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

Something TOTALLY different...
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance really is full of surprises. To be honest, I HATE both Final Fantasy games and Strategy games. But this game kind of changed it all. I am also writing a review, something I've never done before. So, like other standard reviews, let's talk about the game...

GRAPHICS: 8

The graphics are pretty much the same as the other GBA games. But they did a good job with the graphics, yes indeed. The weapons are all given their own different, unique designs. The animation from attacks are different from each other and it really is fun to try out the different attacks just for the sake of seeing the animation (or colours, depending on your age and maturity...). All in all, the graphics deserve and 8.

SOUND: 8

Yay sounds. Don't you just love repetitive music, disturbing you concentration every other minute, while you're planning how to get your allies to stay alive for the rest of the battle? The music was kind of distracting for me, but it was...what's that word? Catchy? Suitable? Let's go with suitable. The music was kind of suitable. It gives the feel of really being on a quest to rescue your friends from the madness of being in someone's dream. The music changes a bit in battle, so you can imagine the fight in your head, albeit with an invisible orchestra. The sounds of the battle, such as the clash of swords and the explosion of magic were perfectly chosen. I'd give another 8 for this.

ADDICTIVENESS: 9

I kept stopping while I was playing the game. So why the high addictiveness rating, you might ask? I kept playing it again. Considering I hate strategy and Final Fantasy games to begin with, this game really is addicting. 9 is the score, and I won't change it. I might pick this game up from beneath the metaphorical bed, and blow the metaphorical dust from it and play it again in a few more years...

STORY: 9

Almost forgot the most important thing: The Story. What's a good ga... Read the rest of this Review
