Amazing Classic
Okay, so overall Pokémon FireRed is an excellent game. Now I may be biased because I've been playing it since I was a kid, but being completely honest this is a game that I downright love.
Graphics: 9 The graphics in this game aren't the same as the other GBA Pokémon games. They're not worse, they're not better. As a matter of opinion, however, I love FireRed/LeafGreen graphics. The lines are clean-cut, the colors are clear, everything is just really...crisp. In my opinion, RSE (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) graphics were decent, but not amazing compared to these. The crispness of the battles, terrain, trainers, Pokémon, buildings, everything... astounds me . I only give the graphics a nine because it IS a matter of opinion, and people may disagree. To each their own.
Sound: 9 Okay, let's be honest. You simply cannot get over the classic Pokémon music. It's perfect. The music isn't new-age, elegant, or full of bass drops, but for a GBA game this sound is pretty excellent. Point off for the incredibly obnoxious low-health-warning-noise that makes me want to chew off my ears, but otherwise FRLG take the cake for sound.
Addictiveness: 10 Easy ten. I've played this game literally countless times. I've owned it three times and lost it all three (mostly due to moving, vacations, and airports). Now I continually repeat it on here. Hands down, a ten on addictiveness. There's always the next gym, the next battle, the next Pokémon to catch. Then the Elite Four. Then the island quests. Then catching them all - literally. I've completely beaten this game once. It was incredibly hard, but incredibly satisfying. And I'd love to do it again.
Story: 9 I personally like the story because it reminds me of classic beat-Team-Rocket-because-they're-bad. Okay, scrap that. It IS classic beat-Team-Rocket-because-they're-bad. A simple, direct storyline. It leads you to the end of the main storyline (the first 150) very... Read the rest of this Review
