ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron 09-12-12 08:35 AM

TOEJAM AND EARL PANIC ON FUNKATRON
Toejam and Earl on the Megadrive is and underrated little gem of a game, and a game that holds a lot of memories for me and one I spent a serious amount on when I was but a wee little nipper it just was so much fun either on your own or with 2 players. So I will get down to the main part of my review hope you enjoy.
Right I will start of with the story, after escapades in seriously un cool earth the hip and happening Toejam and Earl manage to get there ship repaired and headed towards there home planet of funkatron. Unfourtunaly for our hapless duo unknown to them they had some clinger ons in the way of earthlings. Once they got back these pesky earthlings started to cause panic and mayhem, form bad singing, destruction and general mis-treatment of funkatron's inhabitants. Things got so bad the funkapotamas has decided to go into hiding and it is he the lord majesty of funk that is the source of the funk in funkatron. With this is where our adventure starts, and it is up too Toejam and Earl to clear out all the earthlings bring out the funkapotamas from hiding and restore the funky way of life in funkatron.
Graphics: they are a big fat ten. Seriously they are great, from the bold bright well drawn out charters, to the detailed backgrounds and the wonderful cartoon like animation with little things going on in them it just so much fun to look at and the variety of the aliens in the game is staggering I think this is one of the best looking games on the 16 bit era. Other little animations like being possed by a ghost cow , being tickled by the boogeyman and being kicked by the little girl all add to the fun to the game.
Sound what can I say wonderful a firm ten, not really my cup of tea but the music really suits the mood and the atmosphere of the game well. A great mix of funk, hip hop, RNB and rap and smooth lay ed back beats, a soundtrack that needs to be turned up when being played you will want to dance along ... Read the rest of this Review

Streets Of Rage 2
Streets of rage 2 for the megadrive is without question one of the consoles elite titles and still hold in many people's heart as one of there favorite games of all time, me included. So what is the formula that made this game a true classic? well I will tell you. first off it was a vast improvment over the first game witch lay the foundations for this series, the graphics are great big bold sprites that are well animated and designed with a lot of variety, the backgrounds have a serious amount of detail in particuly for a 16 bit console game with some good special effects. Sound well the sound can really only be described as storming a kick butt soundtrack of hard house trance and club music not really my cuppa tea but work's well with this game and really spurs you on when you are in trouble plus each peace of music suits each area very well. In fact I think yuzo Koshiro has made the second best soundtrack ever (after final fantasy 7. The sound effects are great too like the sound's of the punches and the weapons making contact have a really meaty sound too them that make you think that they would really hurt, the bomb explosions are loud and crisp and the peoples screams as they die are just wonderful. Addictivness well there is lots of it either on your own as a lone warrior or battling with a fellow team mate it is great fun and does not grow old I really can not tell how many times I have played this through and still remains fun. Story quiet simple really MR X the protagonist of the first game leader of the syndicate is back stronger than ever before, but this time they kidnapped adam hunter one of the main heroes of the first battle, but this time they are joined by skate adams kid brother and max a wrestler and friend of axels. Depth of the game well what can I say it is a side scrolling beat em up so the depth is fairly average but it is pretty big for it's time and can take a while to get through plus it has lots of replay value. Difficulty a fair bit to b... Read the rest of this Review

Soldier Blade special Guide.
1. At the start crank the speed up to high right away
2. Flying objects take precedence over the stationary ones but do try and destroy as many of them as you can.
3. Kill the small flying enemies quick, because they do not stay on the screen for long.
4. There are 2 snake like mini bosses in the game DO NOT kill them right away try to get inside them and when they make a circle then kill them you will get fifty thousand instead of 20 thousand points.
5. There are 4 gargoyle type enemies in the game they appear just before big bosses destroy them at the same time you will get fifty thousand points instead of ten thousand points each.
6. The first boss you come to the red mechanoid try to milk for a while but not to long or you could run out of time at the end, because his purple shots he fires give a fair amount of points.
7. Try and get as many of the gold square blocks that appear as you can because each one you collect doubles in point value I.E 500,1000,2000 etc
8.There are four splitter balls in the game, the first one you come to will give you a thousand points per smaller ball destroyed. But later on after the red mechanoid boss there will be three more now these splitter balls and they are worth huge points for each of the smaller ball you destroyed you will get ten thousand points each.
9. The last boss is quiet tricky at the start he has a twin flame thrower best advice is to point blank him, there is a point were there is just enough room for you to fire but not get hit by the flame. Once the first part is done his head comes into action this head moves quickly in a clockwise position spewing out a wide range of fireballs but there is a gap between either to the left or the right of the spray use it to dodge them and then quickly go back and point blank fire at him again.
10. Practice makes perfect learn the enemy formation and kill quick and the move to try and destroy some of the stationary object... Read the rest of this Guide
