Mega Man Battle Network

my Megaman Battle Network review
Hey guys, Theironhide here with a new review. I remember that someone recommended this game to me back when I made my ps1 Megaman 8 review. Reading his / her comment got me to play a few more Megaman games, including this 1. This is what I'm currently planning: I'm gonna play out and review all main series Megaman Battle Network games chronologically. While I'll play the first 4 games and the sixth game here on Vizzed, I'm planning to play the fifth game in the collection version on my DS to have a bit of verity in my marathon. Well, since I've already played the first 1 out, I'll review that game right now. Lets get this started.

Graphics: 9
I have to say, this game doesn't look bad for GBA standards. The graphics in this game are very colorful and the redesigns for the Netnavi's (previously robot masters) are not bad. The game also gives some creative human designs. 1 Flaw I do have with this game thought, is that it sometimes drags a little, especially with the net. Jacking into the net looks cool at first, but after the twentieth time it gets really old. Other than that, I don't have much to say

Sound: 6
This game is a lot like Sonic Chronicles: the dark brotherhood, when looking at the sound. The sound effects are pretty good. I like many of the sound effects for this game, like the shooting sound and sound effects for perspective chips (even if the beeping at low hp can get annoying, like in many games). However, here comes the elephant in the room: the music. Like in Sonic Chronicles, the music (at least in my opinion) is terrible. The music in this game (for the most part) sounds like it could have been done on the game gear. Most of the music is also pretty forgettable (at least for me). Overall nice sound effects, but the music keeps the rating low.

Addictiveness: 8
I'll be honest with you guys, I didn't expect I would like the game play here so much. It has a unique battle system with a rpg style over world (which ma... Read the rest of this Review
Sonic and the Secret Rings

my Sonic and the Secret Rings review
Yeah, I've waited long enough for this. Well,
all right lets go (as Sonic himself would say). Those of you who have red my
Sonic and the Black Knight review (if you haven't, take a look) may wonder what
I think of its predecessor Sonic and the Secret Rings. I've already given a few
things away in my Black Knight review, but I never went into full detail of my
thoughts on this game. See, Sonic and the Black Knight was my first (main
series) Sonic game and has been 1 of my all time favorites since, its predecessor
(Secret Rings) is a game I got about 5 years later because I was debating
whether or not I wanted the game. Thought later on, I decided and I was like:
screw it, I like Sonic so I'm gonna give it a chance no matter what negative
things people say about it. So you might wonder: do I regret that decision, or
am I glad I made it? Well, lets find out

Graphics; 8
Yeah, it's no secret that Secret Rings  looks pretty outdated. This was Sonic's first game on the WII and that is not very hard to see, since the textures don't have as much detail as later Sonic games on the WII like Black Knight and
Colors. Also, the storybook cut scenes ,while they're a nice touch, it seems like Sega didn't want to animate them at all, plus they're a bit blurrier than in Black Knight. However, the fact that the game isn't the most detailed can be excused by the fact that this was Sonic's first WII game. To be honest, while it is not as detailed as later Sonic games on the WII, Sega still did a decent job at the level design and textures. The levels look nice (especially for a launch title) and often show a lot of detail. In fact, the camera often gets very showy during game play. What I mean by this is that the game gives a lot of different camera angels to show of how cool the action in the game looks (like in a lot of level mods for Sonic Generations).  The character models, while being pretty outdated now, looke... Sonic and the Black Knight

A Sonic and the black knight review
I'm going to say this right here, right now: Sonic and the black knight is 1 of my favorite sonic games, as well as 1 of my favorite games, of all time. If you are 1 of those people who hates this game with a passion, click of this review, if not then let us begin the review

Graphics: 9 This game looks really good. It has some pretty cool looking enemies during game play, and the landscape is very well detailed. I also really like the CGI cut scenes, I know there are only 3 or 4 of them, but they look just so good, especially the crow in the beginning it's seriously the most realistic looking crow I've ever seen in a video game. You may say that the storybook cut scenes are kind of lazy, but I say it still is an improvement over the last game in the storybook series (secret rings).

Sound: 10 The sound in this game is really good. The sound effects of things like sword clashes and even running sound like Sega put a lot of effort in these little things. And even if you hate the game, (similar to other newer sonic games) there is 1 quality even the haters like about this game: the music is just amazing. Tracks like ' Knight of the wind ' and ' fight the knight ' are ones i will never get out of my head. It also has a few remixes of older Sonic tracks, the most notable 1 being ' It doesn't matter ' from Sonic Adventure which appears in the fan art sections and in 1 of the cut scenes. And then there is the soundtrack playing in the levels themselves: while I'll say that I honestly prefer the level soundtrack of secret rings (maybe that's just because i like rock), I still like the soundtrack in the levels here.

Addictiveness: 10+ Remember the fact that I called this 1 of my favorite games ever, well the game play is the main reason why. This game is really fun to play trough. Sure some of the missions are a little annoying, but you don't have to play these unless you want to. People complain about the mufti player as well. I don't like the muft... Sonic the Hedgehog

A start of a legend
Hey guys, Theironhide here and I'm going to review the original Sonic the hedgehog for the Sega Genesis.
If you guys know even a little about me, then you should know that I'm a huge fan of the Sonic the hedgehog series. Even thought I do like the 3D games more, I still get enjoyment out of the 2D games as well. This game was the begin of the epicness that we know Sonic for today and is often seen as 1 of his best games. I personally disagree on this being the best, but that doesn't say I hate it. Well with all of that said, lets begin.

Graphics: 8
To be honest, this game is far from the best what the Genesis has to offer graphic wise. But that can be excused since it was the first game on the system. The levels are very well designed graphic wise. From the bright and colourful Green Hill, to the dark and industrial horror that is Scrap Brain. Sonic looks good for the time as well, with so many different animations for his sprite.Overall, the game setted up a nice standard for later Genesis games and the later SNES.

Sound: 8
It really saddens me that I can't rate the sound higher. I love Sonic music as much as many other fans and sometimes even haters do. And the sound effects work too, but the game lacks the truly great tracks. To be honest the only tracks I liked in this game (level themes) were Green Hill, Marble and Labyrinth. The others 3 didn't quite appeal to me. I don't care about the Starlight and Scrap Brain themes at all, and the Spring Yard theme is just so boring. Even though I really like the boss theme and the final boss theme is ok.

Addictiveness: 8
Like I said before, I disagree on this being the best Sonic game, but I do like it game play wise. I like how fast phased the game is (especially in Green Hill and Starlight), and I also like the special stages (even thought they could be frustrating as times). The game does have some flaws. Spring Yard was pretty boring in my opinion, and I doubt that I even nee... Read the rest of this Review
Fire Emblem - Monshou no Nazo

Fire Emblem Monshou no nazo review (book 1)
Hey everyone. It's been a while since my last review, so I decided to do a review about the second game I played in a series that quickly became one of my favorite video game series of all time: fire emblem. The first game in the series I played was fire emblem 7 which was less than a year ago, and this game came after it very soon (in order of when I played them). Since this game is basically 2 games in 1 (and since I haven't played out book 2 yet), I'm only going to talk (or write in this case) about the first half of the game and I might do the second half later. For those of you who didn't know the first half of the game is a remake of the first game with updated game play, but is it done right? Well lets find out.

Graphics: 8 This game looks pretty good for on the SNES (or Super Famicom since it was only sold in Japan). I know it might not look as good as some other titles for the system like Star fox or F-Zero, but it's still lives up to some other games for the time. It might look kinda blocky, but this is the Super Nintendo / Famicom we're talking about. Some characters are redesigned a bit (like Marth actually wielding pants here for example) and it's usually for the better. In fact, they made an anime with designs based of this game. Long story short: not the best sprites for the SNES / Super Famicom, but still pretty nice for their time.
Sound: 8 Being honest, this game does a good job with sound effects. I mean every time someone attacks, you can acuarly hear the weapons hit the flesh of units. Once again it's not the best for the SNES ? Super Famicom, but that improved with later games. The music is also remixed pretty decently. I really liked some themes in this game. Remember the Fire Emblem theme from Smash Bros Melee? Well, that was basically a combination between the recruitment theme and the main theme of this game. Speaking of which, the recruitment theme of this game is really cool. I honestly prefer the music and sound of Shadow Dr... Read the rest of this Review
