A break from the Norm
Earthbound, I remember when I first found this on SNES. Easily ranked among the greatest RPG's in an era full of greats such as Final Fantasy and Shining Force. Anyways, onto the review!
Story: A meteor falls outside of town and then your neighbors brother disappears. You find him by the meteor but a lot of the local animals are starting to act weird. On your way home you are visited by a creature from the future who warns you of impending doom, explaining that this is the cause of the animals behavior. Hence begins your adventure. The story is one that offers a LOT of humor and puns.
Graphics: Revolutionary at the time. A very colorful world and battle screens. A a time when more games were basic and bland, especially on battle screens, Earthbound screams "Look at me!" every time you turn around.
Addictiveness: This is one of those love it or hate it games. Either you'll love it and become completely engrossed in it or you'll play for a short while and move onto something else. There's not much of a gray area for idle players.
Replayability: Nothing changes or carries over, but if you fall into the love it category you'll come back and play every once in a while.
Final thoughts: if you are an RPG fan this is a MUST play. the First Person perspective tries to put you IN the battle, the rolling HP and MP system was revolutionary and this easily ranks among the best RPG's of it's time.
