Grand Theft Auto

Grand Theft Auto Review
Graphics: 7/10 The graphics in Grand Theft Auto seem somewhat bland to me, which is why it is receiving a 7/10 in this category. Graphics like explosions were not made very well and look like they were just clip-art that was copy-pasted into the game. However, the graphics are definitely very colorful for a game with such dark tones. One thing I like about the graphics is that they are very clear most of the time and there were little to no points where I couldn’t tell what was happening on my screen. Overall the graphics are very crisp and clean. The only complaints that I have are that the graphics are kind of bland, and buildings can sometimes look wavy and distorted if you get too close to them, but neither of these two things spoil the overall gameplay.
Sound/Music: 9/10 Music and sound effects are definitely one of the stronger areas of this game, and if you play it, you can really tell how hard they worked on them. The game has 7 radio stations that can be listened to when driving in a vehicle. These radio stations play music that was composed specifically for the game and ranges from techno to classical music. the sound effects are very well made and definitely appropriate for the game. For example, if you hit someone with your car or steal their car, they will shout curse words at you. Obviously I can’t say exactly what they say because vizzed is family friendly, but you get the idea. There are also small sound effects that may not be noticed such as car door opening and closing, footsteps, and car engines. These don’t necessarily add to the game, but they definitely add very well to the realistic atmosphere that the game tries to create.
Difficulty: 7/10 Grand Theft Auto, overall is not a very hard game. However, there are certain aspects that make the game harder than it needs to be. Control for example, was very difficult for me to adapt to, leading to some challenging situations. I am going to be taking ... Read the rest of this Review
Bully

Baritron's Bully Review
Graphics: 9/10 The graphics in Bully are a perfect example of what good graphics on the Playstation 2 looked like. Everything in the game is very well visually designed and is expressed clearly. You can really tell just how much effort went into making something like this. The only problem with the graphics is that things that are supposed to look circular in real life look very polygonal, but this is still something that happens in games made today. The color palette in bully is mostly made up of dark colors with few bright or vibrant colors. This gives the feel of an environment within the game that is very dark and unforgiving, which is definitely accurate. The only graphical issues in Bully are occasional blurry textures on walls and floors when you stand up close to them. Other than that, the graphics in Bully are very clean and crisp and are some of the best on the Playstation 2, which is why it is receiving a 9/10 in this category.
Music: 9/10 Let me just first say that I am a huge fan of the music in Bully. The dark feel of the walking theme builds on the dark feel that is provided by the graphics and story of this game. The music is simple and repetitive but provides a lot of character within the game. The bike theme also builds on this dark and depressing vibe, but provides a sense of momentum and speed, as you’re dashing through Bullworth on bike. All the music in this game sort of has a retro feel to it. I don’t really know how to explain it, but all the music in this game feels old (I mean this in a good way). As if it was made in the 1970’s or 1980’s. There is also lots of variety in music in this game. There are dark songs, serious songs, cheerful songs, you name it. For all of these reasons, Bully gets a 9/10 in Music.
Story: 8/10 In Bully, you play as 15 year old Jimmy Hopkins who has been dumped at the high school of Bullworth Academy. After being dropped of at the school, Jimmy befriends Gar... Read the rest of this Review
Body Harvest

Baritron's Body Harvest Review
Baritron’s Review of Body Harvest for Nintendo 64.

Before you read this, it should be noted that it is my first review, so it would be helpful to receive constructive criticism so I can continue to make better game reviews in the future.
Graphics: 8/10 The graphics in this game were absolutely stunning when it first came out in 1998 and they have aged rather well. These graphics are definitely on par with such titles as Legend of Zelda The Ocarina Of Time and Perfect Dark. Also, I am going to be cutting this game some slack because it is a vintage video game and it deserves to be reviewed as such. Aside from some blurry textures on floors and some vehicles, the graphics in body harvest still hold up today. The character models were very well designed for their day and they also still hold up. Everything is very clearly visually expressed.
Music: 9/10 The overworld music in this game is very well suited to create a desolate and dangerous atmosphere to perfectly immerse the player in Body Harvest and make them feel like they’re not alone. Entering a house or building provides the player with music that makes them feel safe, but still cautious. I am going to take a point off for lack of variety as this game’s soundtrack is almost all dark and depressing music. If you're looking for something cheery and upbeat, Body Harvest is not the game for you.
Story 8/10 This game has an amazing story for an old game. It follows the protagonist, Adam Drake trying to prevent an Alien attack that is sent to harvest the human population every 25 years. To stop this Alien invasion, you must travel to four years in a 100 year period. The locations of the game are Greece in World War 1, Java in the 1940s, the New York City in the 1960s, Siberia in the 1990s, and the year 2016. One of the problems I have with the story is that while it is original, it is somewhat generic, being another story about alie... Read the rest of this Review
