Turbo FAST
When I first saw this game in the shop, I didn't really know what to expect of it. I never saw the movie but I did know what it was about and I didn't really think that it could have been all too good but I gave it a try anyway since it was free and all. I'm pleased to say that I was kind of shocked when I first opened the game, even if I was expecting something, what I actually saw would have been so much more awesome than what I would have expected, which is a really good sign. From the moment I entered the main menu, I was like OMG because it was really cool. Just the menus alone looked really good and then once you got to the actual games there's so much more for you to see and it really looks like the developers tried to put so much more than was actually needed to make sure that the game was as close to perfect as it can be.

I haven't been able to put the game down since I started playing it because it's so much fun and I'm so glad that I decided to give it a try. I've already done maybe 25 or so races over the course of well over 5 hours since first getting the game and I don't feel that I'm going to get bored of this game any time soon and could easily be one of the most time consuming mobile games that I have played.

GRAPHICS 10/10

The graphics are really one of a kind when it comes to this game and they are just beautiful. The game isn't developed by anybody who works with the makers of the movie, but it was developed by a somewhat well known developer that's officially partnered with Dreamworks and they seem to know what they are doing when it comes to graphics. Do you remember a game called Robot Unicorn Attack? That game was insane when it came to graphics, all colorful and whatnot and the developers of this game, PikPok, developed the sequel, Robot Unicorn Attack 2 for mobile Devices, so it's not really a surprise that they can pull off some great stunts with graphics. It's not just those 2 games that they have developed, they have a long resume of more than 2 dozen games developed in the last 5 years, most of which for either Dreamworks or Adult Swim and most of which looked stunning.

You really can't argue that the game doesn't look good, just look at the main menu and see for yourself. You get a beautiful title screen with a colorful and detailed background that's just full of stuff and then once you choose a mode you get to see even more. From here you get to choose your snail, which looks pretty good on its own and on top of all that the snail is animated meaning it will look around and you can put all sorts of different things onto your little racer. Not only do these upgrades make your snail better at racing, but they look cool as well and come in a variety of colors and designs. Literally, once you get to the later stages of the game and have a ton of in game money you can actually make it look as if your snail is wearing some sort of a futuristic aircraft.

All of that is just the start of something that's really beautiful because once you actually get to the races, everything gets even better. You pick a racetrack and when the game loads, you get to see the entire racetrack as well as the room that it's in and stuff lying around the track like toys and boxes. (It's a snail track, remember) Once you are actually in a race, it all looks so cool, everything about the race, the track, and the surroundings are in full detail and color and it really just looks amazing. I'm not lying when I say this, I feel that the amount of effort the developers have put into this game in the graphics alone is so much better than the graphics only effort of any other mobile game that I have ever played, even better than Angry Birds, Minion Rush, and all those other games. The detail is just amazing and could easily be on par with some console games and I don't think they could have made it any better than this so my grade for graphics can't be anything lower than a perfect 10 out of 10.

SOUND 10/10

I wouldn't say that the sounds of the game were as good as the graphics since the graphics were amazing but the sounds are still top notch and very memorable. The music was actually the very first thing that I noticed about the game, not the graphics or anything else. I opened up the game for the first time and the moment that I reached the title screen I was met by the music and I really liked what I heard. Once huge advantage for the music was that I could actually hear the music unlike a couple other mobile games that I have played recently, I had the volume at the max again and it was actually loud. Not only was the music loud but it was actually catchy and fun to listen to, even when you aren't playing the game. While I was writing this I went to the title screen so I could hear it again and I ended up leaving the game on the title screen for about half an hour just so I could keep listening to the same song over and over, that's how good it was. The developers did a great job with this as well, they didn't want to take generic sounds or just do a small song to get the job done, they went all out and made sure that they could get the full package to show to us.

In addition to the music you have the regular sounds of the game, and there are sounds all over the place. When you are navigating the menus or upgrading your snail, every little thing that you press will have its own sound, every little button click no matter what it is. When you are actually in a race there are so many sounds, with the biggest one being cheers, as you race there's going to be a continuous roar of cheering even though there isn't really anybody even watching the race but it makes it sound a bit more like a racing game. There are also all sorts of other sounds that you can hear while racing from standard racing sounds like engines to random game sounds that take place at various points like picking up items and crashing into the walls and there's even a nice little countdown clock at the start of every race with a voice.

If you think that's all the game has to offer, you would be very wrong because now we go back to music. Yes, there are other songs that play other than the one that plays when you are in the menus though i'm not exactly sure if it's one other song or if it's two because the one that plays during a race sounds a lot like the one that plays in the menus. Aside for the one during the race, there's another song that plays when before and after the race starts and this one is just as good as the other and also happens to be very very energetic. That's all there is to talk about when it comes to the sounds of the game but all of that should already have you thinking about how good the sounds are and like the graphics, this aspect of the game doesn't deserve anything that's lower than a perfect 10 out of 10.

ADDICTIVENESS 8/10

Oh boy is this game fun, and there is no reason for it not to be fun. Who doesn't like a game like this? It combines not just racing but the "other kind" of racing, you know, with power ups and what not and that makes the game awesome. But then you also take into account the other aspects of the game, like the graphics and music which we have already mentioned as well as the basis from the movie and you got yourself something that's really fun, something that you want to play over and over again. Playing in some races can be quite difficult at times but it's an overall pleasant experience most of the time and if you like competitive games, then this is the one that;s for you for multiple reasons. There's different classes and tournaments that you get to play in and for the most part, you are racing against other CPU snails and what's more fun then racing against something? Don't you just love trying to pass the guy ahead of you? Or making the other racer crash? Or better yet, when they are behind you and you keep moving around to make sure that they can never see 1st place again?

If you like racing and the competition, but you feel that playing against the computer starts to get lame after a while, then there's still so much more for you to do. Why don't you take it up a notch and check out the multiplayer portion of the game? I was a bit surprised that the game had multiplayer at all since most mobile games I have seen for Windows didn't have multiplayer, even if their IOS/Android counterparts did have it. To play with others you need to connect to a facebook account and you can play against your friends or other mystery races to see who's the best. The game isn't as big as it used to be when there were cash prizes so there won't always be someone on, but it's possible that over the course of a day you could find maybe a dozen or more challenges that you can take on and try to beat the scores of other players around the world. If you like the feel of playing against other real players, then this game can become even more addicting for you and cause you to waste away many more hours playing it. So what I'm trying to say is that no matter what you enjoy when it comes to racing games, this one will have it all for you and you will soon be fully addicted and as for a grade, this aspect is going to get an 8 out of 10.

STORY N/A

Well, I know there's some story that revolves around the movie, but the story from the movie isn't a part of the game which is all about the races alone. It's a racing game, and those don't really have much about stories, and this one doesn't really have too much in it either when it comes to a story, even if the game is actually based on a story. You do have the different classes, the different tournaments, and a few ranks, but that's really all there is, there's nothing big in terms of a story or a plot so this section will be left alone.

DEPTH 9/10

Oh boy does this game have a lot to offer. There's so much to the game and that's just talking about the stuff that I've already discovered, I'm sure that there has to be a few hidden secrets left that I have yet to find out about. First off you have the number of races that you can participate in. There's 4 different classes and each one has a number of different races, probably at least 10 and that's not including the Cup races and on top of that you also get to choose between a few different tracks. All in all when you go through all of the different classes, you could have anywhere from 400 to 500 different race/track combinations to choose from and that's a lot, enough to take up hundreds of hours if you really wanted to go through every single combination.

Next up you have the characters, and even though you can only race with one character mostly, there's so much customization that you can do. You can upgrade your snail in 4 different categories, and you can even add all sorts of different parts and designs to them to make them either look cooler or drive better and there's more than 75 different things for you to customize them and that doesn't even take into account all of the colors that you can choose from. You can pick between a few different colors for the actual look of the snail, for the shell, and for the lights that are on the shell. On top of all that, there's also other snails that you can buy to race with. There are 10 others to be exact that you can buy, some of them are bought with cash and some of them are bought with the in game money that you can win from races.

All those things that you can choose from are great and all and they really help boost the depth of the game but in my opinion, the biggest factor in this aspect would be the multiplayer side of the game. Having the ability to race with hundreds of other gamers across the world is a huge advantage, regardless of what the game is and when it comes to this game, having multiplayer adds to an already deep game. Overall, my grade for depth is just a bit short of being perfect and deserves a 9 out of 10.

DIFFICULTY 4

For the most part, the game can be quite easy aside for a few bumps that you might run into here and there, and one of these bumps would be the controls. There are 4 different control schemes that you can use and it might take you up to a dozen races or more to find the one that fits your style and until you find one that fits you, it might be quite hard to play the game, and even after you find one that fits, you would still need to get used to it. You have tilt controls, main touch controls, analog controls, and button controls and each of them come with their own drawbacks depending on what you like and dislike. Don't expect to become a master at your chosen control scheme anytime soon because a lot of work will need to be put into it. Heck, I have long found my perfect control scheme and I still find myself crashing into walls every now and then because I misjudge a turn or I make some sort of a mistake somewhere along a track. This isn't really the kind of game where you want to make a mistake, especially when you are racing against another racer because if you crash, miss a boost, or make some sort of a mistake, you're going to be a lame duck because the other guy will be too far ahead of you and you know it's impossible to catch up to them before the race ends but you still need to play it out.

That goes into the other aspects of difficulty quite well because the AI of the other racers are apparently pretty good and they never seem to crash. Heck, every time I crash into them whether I'm behind them, in front of them, or next to them, I always seem to be the one who spins out and slows down while they keep on moving on. In most games that award stars for completing a level, you get stars for beating the level and you get more based on how well you did in that level, but that's not really how this game works. You don't get stars for beating the level, the only way for you to get the full 3 stars is to come in 1st place, even if you lose by less than half a second, the most that you can get would be two stars, that just further proves how good the AI can be. That's not a problem though because it's very easy to be better than the AI, especially if you buy all of the upgrades, you learn how the controls work, and you learn as much as you can of the track and its layout. After seeing all this, one might think that the game would be quite hard, but it's the complete opposite, once you get used to the game which shouldn't take more than a handful of races, you will find that the game couldn't really be any easier. So overall, it's fairly easy and for a grade it will get a 4.

OVERALL 9.3/10

Without a doubt this could be one of the 10 best mobile games that I have ever played, but it wouldn't have been this way if not for the graphics and the assortment of music which gave the game a huge boost. The game looks just amazing, it sounds amazing, and all of the other aspects that come together to make Turbo FAST work together to give the gamer the perfect experience. If you like racing games, or even if you liked the movie, then I really suggest that you give this one a try because it's so worth it, even if you just stare at the game and marvel at the graphics for hours. The game has a lot to offer and I'm kind of surprised that it's free, even though there are things that you can buy, but a game that has this much and has had this much effort put into it should have at least cost something to buy. PikPok did a great job with this wonderful game, like they have with some of the others that they have and really, I wouldn't want any other developer making this game. My overall grade for it is going to be a 9.3 out of 10.
