Finger Flick Football Featured Review

Finger Flick Football Review by: zanderlex - 7.8/10

FFF: The Game
Finger Flick Football is a fun little game that I had discovered recently where you get to control a soccer ball by clicking it in the direction you want it to go and you have to get to a certain block in order to win. Think back to those ice caves in some Pokemon games, it's a lot like that only this time going off the edge, touching another ball, or going into a hole will kill you and will cause you to start the round over again. The concept is simple yet the game is quite fun, and there's enough levels to make sure that you play the game enough to like it, not to mention a few other cool features.

GRAPHICS 7/10

There really isn't anything special about the graphics since they are very basic and rely on simple tiles, probably no more than 10 different tiles that are used and only two of them actually move so there isn't really much in this department if you ask me. It looks simple yet it's clear and colorful and I like it. You have the white soccer ball that's controlled by you, the red enemy soccer ball, yellow stars, black holes, and brownish walls. That's about all there is to it but it's just enough to make the game good. It's a small amount if graphics but there's nothing wrong with that and my grade for this aspect is going to be a 7 out of 10.

SOUND 8/10

As for sound, I really like what's in this game. As for the music side, I was pleasantly surprised with what the game had to offer because I wasn't expecting this. For half the time I was playing the game, I was listening to my own music but then for some odd reason my music stopped playing and I was greeted by the music from the game and I really was surprises by it because it was something I didn't expect to hear from a game. I'd have to say that the music that plays throughout the game is really calming and peaceful, it's not what I'm used to but it was very pleasant, especially for the style that the game followed. There isn't really too much on the basic sound side of the game, you hear a small sound when you flick the ball, when you hit a broken wall, when you teleport, when you die, and so on. The two work together to make the game enjoyable and as for a grade, I would have to say that the sound aspect should get an 8 out of 10.

ADDICTIVENESS 8/10

I don't see any reason why people would not play this game because it's fun. For me the game is so much fun because it's one giant puzzle that you need to solve and puzzle games like these can be a lot of fun for some people. When it comes to a game like this, you cant go into each level fingers blazing because you're going to die without a doubt. You need a strategy, you need to plan out your moves and take each flick one step at a time and you need to think everything over. That's what makes this game so much fun at least for me but I'm pretty sure that there's others out there who like these kinds of games and would agree that a game such as this one could have at least a small level of addictiveness and for that I'm going to give this aspect a grade of 8 out of 10.

STORY N/A

There's really no story in this one aside for trying to guide your ball across each level to the end without dying or by trying to die as little as possible. There's no plot to it, aside for unlocking new levels by beating older ones you get to score points and stars based on how well you do in each level and that's really the only thing that has any actual meaning in it other than that, there's no real plot so I'm going to leave this part blank.

DEPTH 10/10

I'd say that this game has a ton of depth because of the sheet amount of stuff that it has to offer. First off you have the number of levels that you can play through. Sure, each level is played on a small map that only measures about 13 blocks by 11 blocks, but the game has many levels to beat, 50 in total. Once you get deeper into the game, you're going to need to take more time and deaths on each level so not only is 50 levels a lot, but in total, many games will be played. On top of that, you get to create your own levels, sure they are all going to be on the same 11 by 13 panel but the possibilities are endless. You choose where every wall, teleport, star, and exist goes, you choose how many enemies, where they are and where they move. As a result, you can probably come up with thousands of different levels and if that isn't deep then I don't know what is. Personally I'd say that the game has a ton of depth and my grade for this aspect will be a perfect 10 out of 10.

DIFFICULTY 5

The game starts off kind of easy and then it gets a bit harder after each level. If you take the time to plan out each route before you attempt it, then the game will be easier foe you, but only trial and error can help you get past the enemies because no amount of planning can prepare you for them. If there were no enemies and all you had to do was plan out a route, then the game would still be challenging but a lot less so. With the enemies, you could probably get to the point where you need to repeat each level a dozen or more times and for that I'm going to give the difficulty aspect of the game a 5.

OVERALL 7.8/10

When I first played this game I really was expecting some kind of a football or soccer game so I was disappointed that this wasn't it, but after reading the instructions on how to play I figured that it could be a fun game and I was right because even though the game can be quite slow at times, it's a lot of fun and it really makes you think. It's a free game so there's no risk in testing it out and if you are a gamer who likes puzzle games then I would suggest giving it a shot at least for a bit to see what it's like. Overall it was a decent game and my grade for Finger Flick Football is going to be a 7.8 out of 10.
