Desert Demolition Starring Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote Review by: Mynamescox44 - 8/10

Desert Demolition - Looney Kind of Fun
Overview - This is a game based on the high-jinks of Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote from the amazing Looney Toons franchise. You can play through the story as both characters from each's perspective. The coyote will use every wild gadget in his arsenal, while the road runner relies on speed and skill to avoid being caught. There are also various obstacles and items to help you along the way, regardless of who you play as such cannons to give you a quick boost. In either story, it all comes down to a final showdown with your rival, both fighting for survival in the harsh desert. Will you survive the trials? Let's find out!

Graphics - The graphics may not push the system to it's limits, but they have the perfect quality and feel for what they represent. They closely resemble the cartoon that we all came to know and love. Everything in the world to the smallest bolt holding together a wooden bridge look fantastic with the signature Looney Toons feel. I really imagine a lot of time and effort was put into making this game look as beautiful as possible, and it shows. The animations for each playable character are fantastic, and covers a lot of what you see in the show. All the items stand out and look good, and the backdrop for each level is breathtaking for it's time. The graphics have surely earned a 9 / 10.

Sound - I really enjoyed the audio this game features. Each level does not have a standard background track, but makes up for it in the fact with each movement or action your character makes is paired with a unique sound. For instance, the coyote walking makes a sound similar to that of him tip-toeing in the cartoon. If he bangs his head on a ceiling, the signature gong clash occurs. The range of sound effects implemented are phenomenal, and add the perfect feeling of Looneyness to the game. Another example would be when either charcter gets up to running speed, a signature track will play that also comes from the show. For Wile, it would be an upbeat, yet silly, drum line. The lack of background music can be a little disappointing, but you won't even notice it with all the zany fun you'll be having. The sound gets a 7 / 10.

Addictiveness - This is a love it or hate it game, being completely honest. Personally I love it, and felt compelled to play over and over as a kid until it was completed on both story lines. It's a platformer at the very core of it's concept, and is done extremely well for being made from a Looney Tunes TV show. All the different power ups make it even more fun, especially Wile's gadgets. Everything from his zip-lines and catapults, to his rocket skates and more are provided to catch that rascally Road Runner. The levels are well designed, sometimes offering different paths (albeit minor) to find your way through. Another fun aspect is regardless of character, you are timed on each level. This prevents you from simply taking your time and avoiding every obstacle. Speed and precise control are the keys here. I give the Addictiveness an 8 / 10.

Story - Lets be frank here. There's not really much story here, and there isn't much story to base it off of either. It just comes down to Wile has always wanted to eat the Road Runner, and has never succeeded. Story was never the intended focus, be it more so the hilarious ways Wile fails, or the Road Runner out-witting him. At least the game gives Wile a chance to "win" since we all know he'll never actually get to eat the bird. Story gets a low 3 / 10.

Depth - The game is somewhat lacking in depth. Other than achieving high scores or finishing both story lines, there isn't much in terms of re play value. On the bright side, there are a range of power ups and hidden cameos from other Looney Toons characters to look for. The game itself is relatively short, each story line being completable in under 20 minutes not counting loading times and short cut-scenes between levels. All in all, the depth gets a 4 / 10.

Difficulty - This game can be pretty difficult. The controls are extremely simple by themselves. The challenge lies in avoiding the obstacles / avoiding Wile, and speeding the through the levels as quickly as possible while trying to do so. You're going to need a really good reaction time for this game, or at least memorize where most obstacles are. There are cannons and pads-on-a-spring that propel you forward in a way similar to classic Sonic titles, which add to the struggle of staying on course without being damaged. Not only are you timed for each level (there are power ups to extend your time, but not by much), you also have limited health. For either player, obstacles can include Anvils tied to balloons that pop when you walk under them, Cacti, Exploding gunpowder barrels and even more. This game is quite easy to learn, but very difficult to master. The Difficulty earns an 8 / 10.

This is generally received as a love it or hate it game, but if you're even a slight fan of the series, it deserves a chance.
Hope you enjoy the review :)

Desert Demolition Starring Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote Game Description

Play either the Road Runner OR Wile E. Coyote in this unique side-scroller that is just like an interactive Saturday morning cartoon.

Your goal: run through six different desert environments before time expires, collecting ACME stamps.

As the Road Runner, speed is your ally as you do incredible jumps, burn though loop-de-loops, and avoid all of the Coyote's contraptions and ambushes. The Road Runner can also scare an unsuspecting Coyote with his Beep-Beep attack.

As the Coyote, you use Acme's crazy gadgets to catch the Road Runner, constantly attempting to master their power without getting yourself flattened. The Coyote has a special leap attack which allows him to make a last ditch attempt to grab the bird!

Bonus rounds include cameos from other classic Warner Bros. characters such as Elmer Fudd, Bugs Bunny, Marvin the Martian.
