Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - it doesn't get much better that this. geeogree
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is an
update to the earlier release of Mortal Kombat 3. Most notable of the release is the inclusion of previous favorites like Scorpion and Kitana who were missing from Mortal Kombat 3. No version of UMK3 seems to be quite the same across the various platforms so I am going to focus solely on the SNES version which I owned and played a lot. The plot of this game follows that of the first and second Mortal Kombat games. UMK3 is NOT a sequel to Mortal Kombat 3 though. Just an
update of characters and gameplay just like Mortal Kombat Trilogy is later on.
Graphics 9/10 – This game is the pinnacle of graphics for a fighting game for the Mortal Kombat series on the SNES. Each character looks great. Even the character with similar starting outfits (the 3 ninja girls or the 5 or so ninja guys) they all have very unique move sets and varying stances keeping them feeling even more unique than they did before. There are also a lot of other very different looking characters than before. Nice to see so much variety in the characters this time around considering there are 20+ in this game.
The levels also do not fail to amaze. They are all beautifully made and continue to fit the feel and theme of the game and series. There are also more fatalities in this game and they actually look really good (for the most part). And the blood this time does not look nearly as fake as it did in Mortal Kombat 2. The moves are cleaner looking and more responsive as well. Everything about the look of the game and the sprites is great.
Sound 9/10 – I LOVE the music for this game. Like the 2 previous games the feel for this music is dark and eerie. I think a word I used last time was oppressive and that is the feel I get. It is like the music is saying that you are trapped and you do not stand a chance and it is only a matter of time before you are done for. I can not really say much else about the music. I thought it was fantastic.
Another improvement this time around though is the fighting sounds. They feel like they have been refined yet again to feel that much more lifelike. I also really like the variety in sounds for all the special moves and technique the fighters use. It all has an improved sound that you notice when playing through each game in the series.
Addictiveness 9/10 – this game is extremely fun to play. There are 23 playable characters each having their own unique move, combo and fatality set. There are also 4 modes to play the game on: the story mode, where you try and beat the game in single player, a straight up 1 on 1 vs mode, and an 8 person tournament mode where each person participating picks their character and you fight it out in a bracketed tournament style fight and a 2 on 2 mode endurance mode where each fighter gets to pick 2 characters to fight against 2 other characters. With that much variety in the game play it does not get old playing this game. There are so many moves and combos and fatalities to learn that it takes a long time to learn the game let alone become good at it.
Something I want to mention that I did in passing but that I think made the Mortal Kombat 3 games (all of them) way more fun and interesting were the combos you could use. The first 2 games had combos that you could do because certain moves worked really well in succession but MK3 and UMK3 built combos into the game that were unique to every character. These combos are extremely fun to use. They were accompanied by a run button which helped you close the distance between you and your opponent in order to do the combos. This element alone added a lot of variety to the game that was lacking in the earlier 2 games.
Story 8/10 – I really love the story behind this game. Having failed twice at taking over Earth realm, first because of Shang Tsung failing to beat the Earth 10 times in a row and then Shao Kahn himself failing to win during an Outworld tournament, Shao Kahn hatches a plan to merge the Earth Realm with Outworld. He resurrects his former queen Sindel on Earth and then uses his power to breach the barriers between the realms to reclaim her. This causes the walls between the 2 realms to drop and the realms merge into 1. This merging kills nearly everyone on Earth except for a handful of former and new Mortal Kombat fighters that Raiden saved before losing his powers as God of Earth realm. These fighters then band together as best they can to fight the invading forces from Outworld and defeat Shao Kahn for good.
Add on top of this that each character in the “tournament” has their own back story and motivation for being in the tournament and possibly ending up winning it. Way more depth to this game than any of the other Mortal Kombat games and definitely more than most other fighting games of the era.
Depth 7/10 – this was a tougher rating for me to make. The game itself does not take very long to beat especially if you put the shortest route to beating Shao Kahn. I imagine the game could be beaten easily in under 30 minutes total. The depth of this game does not come from beating the game one time but in all the various characters and moves and game modes you can use. This game is much more geared to being played by 2 or more people than being played alone. It is fun either way but the real variety and depth the game exhibits comes from the 2 player experience.
Difficulty 8/10 – I rated this game high not because it is extremely hard to beat but in order to beat the game with every character it is quite a bit more challenging. I could probably pick Scorpion and beat the game without really trying but beating the game with Sindel or Nightwolf would be a lot more of a challenge because I am not as familiar with those characters as I am with Scorpion. And even with Scorpion depending on the difficulty level I do not know if I would win every single time. Motaro and Shao Kahn are unpredictable and difficult enough to beat that one wrong move can ruin the fight against them.
Still, this game is not anything like one of the side scrolling type games that are 10/10 on difficulty that have been made before. It is beatable with any character if you take the time to learn their moves and combos properly and that is worth doing because it makes the game even more fun to play after that.
Overall 8.3/10 – is Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 the best fighting game ever? No. However, it is quite nearly one of the best made for the SNES alongside Street Fighter 2. It builds upon the good things from the previous games and makes them better and it fills in holes where the earlier games were lacking. I highly recommend checking this game out but make sure to find a guide with all the moves and combos or you will be spending a lot of time guessing.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3- Good or Bad Excelsior3000
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is a vast improvement over plain old Mortal Kombat 3 featuring more characters such as adding Sub-zero and Scorpion back into the mix and improving visuals.
Graphics
The graphics are amazingly complicated for the SNES but if there were any complaints I just can't scrape the dots in the health bar of my mind but this is the most minor complaint possible.
Sound
Due to the graphics being amazing the sound in this port is lacking compared to the others in the SNES library but is still amazing for the SNES.
Addictiveness
Once you pick up that controller or that laptop or keyboard or whatever your using then you'll never want to stop until you've beaten the game and pulled off a couple of heads and pulled out a couple of spines.
Story
The story is the one part of the game that's lacking is the story. One year after the previous Mortal Kombat tournament the fighters return to battle once again. Old rivalries come again Sub-zero and Scorpion for instance and some new ones. The story just a little above average and so scores itself a six.
Depth
This game is very deep if you finish the game you can try it again with another character and learn their move set and use it to your advantage and find the best character. There is plenty to do in this game.
Difficulty
Even tough it's a smooth fantastic game my goodness this game is relentless you can't win more than 2 matches in a row on your first time playing.
Conclusion
So in conclusion what have we learned...
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is the best of the original trilogy and is worth every viz. My personal favourite characters are Raiden due to his awesome lightning attack and Scorpion because of the harpoon throw and the iconic "Get over here!!"
Get this game or you will be missing out the best fighting experience of your life. (Except the new Mortal Kombat game which is 10 /10 for me.)

ULTIMATE epic win! MitsuriZX
Hello everyone! This is MitsuriZX, and after my long, painful hiatus, i'm finally back to tell you all about one of the greatest fighting game of all times... Mortal Kombat! And this time, we're talking about the expansion to Mortal Kombat 3, ULTIMATE Mortal Kombat 3!
Lucas and Luisa are on vacation, so it's up to me to review this game! Let's do it!
At first, when you look at Mortal Kombat III, it just seems like a regular fighting game with it's trends and whatnot, but after the release of ULTIMATE Mortal Kombat 3, sales did rise through the roof, and that's because that game is the ULTIMATE Mortal Kombat expansion! Expect lots of characters, stages, and new moves!
The objective of each fight is to empty your opponent's life bar by delivering punches, kicks, pokes to the eye, knees to the groin, and so on. What makes Mortal Kombat a different game is that specials can and MUST be spammed as much as possible (in a strategic way, of course) so that your victory becomes easier. Almost all characters play the same when it comes to normal moves, but each one has different combos and special moves.
When your opponent's life bar has reached 0, that's when you'll be asked to "finish him/her!", and here comes the most interesting part of Mortal Kombat games, the Fatalities. They are gruesome, full-carnage finishers which completely obliterates anyone in your way in the most humiliating of ways. They're not easy to perform, but it sure is fun to see someone getting crushed by a giant arcade machine.
But this game goes much far than just Fatalities, you also have Brutalities, Animalities, Babality, and Friendship... Friendship, again? Well, sometimes you're just not up to so much violence... so you can also finish your opponent in the most hilarious of ways! Of course, it goes without saying that these are unavoidable once you have your health bar beat to a bloody pulp, so be sure you're the one "finishing" and not the "finished" one!
And then comes the learning spike... oh boy... this game is unbelivably hard. Even on easier difficulties, you WILL lose, no matter how good you think you are. I'd go as far as saying unfair, especially on opponents like Jade and Motaro, their CPU is unforgiving. Even the smallest of mistakes can turn the tide of battle, so be on your toes!
And there are also the inumerous cheats you can use, and they make the game much, MUCH funnier! Since the Singleplayer mode is so broken, why not try Multiplayer? It's probably the default choice for players, no one wants to play agaisn't invincible CPUs! Besides, it's much more fun to play with friends. Cheats + Friends = Complete Mayhem.
I'd recommend ULTIMATE Mortal Kombat III for everyone, but i can't do that. You better have some memorization skills and some hardcore friends, these moves are hard to execute, but once you get the gist of everything, it's fun until you can't take it anymore!

The Ultimate Battle (Ultimate Mortal Kombat review) tornadocam
Today I am going to be critiquing and reviewing Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. So let's finish this and get started. Story: 8After, Shao Khan's defeat by the Earth warriors in the second tournament he is enraged. Khan decides to invade the Earth as a result he takes a lot of souls. In addition, Khan also resurrects some of his dead soldiers that have been dead for over 10,000 years. Raiden chooses Earth's finest warriors to battle Khan and his troops in the next tournament. The fate of the Earth will be fought over in the next tournament. Okay, most fighting games do not have much of a plot. However, I thought this was a decent plot overall. It explains the story leading up to the tournament. It, is your standard plot as you have good vs evil in this game. I even thought it was funny how Khan resurrected his dead soldiers, who have been dead for a very long time. Does Khan ever age in these games? Anyway back to the story. I think the story is very simple and overall good. Thus, I give the story a good solid rating of 8 out of 10. Graphics: 9 The graphics in this game were very good. The stages look very nice and some even look creepy to fit their theme. The city backgrounds look like an actual city. The sprints for the most part were very good. The fighters look very good and their sprints are not out of whack. The only problem I have with the graphics are the controls. The controls on some of the fighters can be sluggish at times. I do not know if the makers made them that way to show that certain fighters or slower than others or what? Me personally, I find it to be very annoying especially while trying to do special moves. Moreover, there were no major lags in this game. Thus, I give the graphics a solid 9 out of 10 rating. I would have given it a 10 had it not been for the sluggish controls. Sound: 10Ultimate Mortal Kombat, really shines on its sound. The stages' music themes are nicely done. I have found a lot of them have a creepy feel to them. A lot of stages in this game look like they are in the dungeons, and one stage looks like the world of fire. The character's sounds are also nicely done. The fighter, that the player chooses will moan and groan while getting hit. If a fighter has a fatality done on them then he or she will scream. The screaming, moaning and groaning sound so real in this game. In fact, it really sounds like a real person, who is in pain. So, the makers of this game really knew what they were doing by giving the fighter's sounds. Also the special moves have an awesome sound. Lightening bolts sound like an actual thunder storm, fireballs have a burning sound to them, and ice moves sounds like ice cracking on a winter day. I really liked the sound of this game. I like the music because it fits the stage's nicely. The character sounds are very nice and sound real as I mentioned. Thus, I give the sound to Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 a perfect rating. Addictiveness & Depth 7 Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is one of my favorite Mortal Kombat games. The others are Trilogy and Mortal Kombat II. I sometimes play this game when I just want to take a break from Mega Man or Mario games. I liked this game better than I did Mortal Kombat 3. The depth of this game is also pretty decent. I like how you have a choice of several fighters. Some of the fighters appeared in the second game, but not the third. I want to think there is away to unlock some extra fighters in this game, but I have not been able to do that yet. Moreover, it is often fun to pick a different fighter for each play through of this game. I also like how you can chose your difficulty levels. So, many times I pick different difficulty levels. At, the end of the day I give the addictiveness and depth rating a 7 out of 10. Ultimate Mortal Kombat does have some depth to it. However, this is a fighting game so there are no items to collect. In addition, there are no power ups in this game either. Difficulty: 6I had a hard time rating this game for its difficulty. The main reason is the player can chose their difficulty. Basically, to sum up the words of Khan "chose your destiny". If you chose an easier path the game is much easier. On some of the easier levels, opponents do not hurt as much compared to the harder levels. If you chose a harder path than you are asking yourself for pain. The harder levels have a lot going on in them. The fighters are much faster on harder modes. Also, the fighter's attacks hurt more. In addition, you have to do a gauntlet match. So yeah, the difficulty rating really varies depending on what path you chose. I felt like it did not deserve a higher rating than 6 because you can chose your path. If you chose an easier mode than the rating is probably a 4 out of 10. If you chose a harder mode than that is a rating of 10 out of 10. What also factored in my rating was this is a fighting game. There, are no stages with items to collect or anything like that. Overall: 8.6 As I stated this is one of my favorite Motal Kombat games. I rank this one behind Trilogy and the second game. Those two games are my favorites because of the characters you can play as. Trilogy had all the characters from I to III in it. Ultimate Kombat has some of those characters but some of them you cannot play as. Also Trilogy had a mix up of all the scenes from the first three games. Ultimate just has scenes from the third game. I like Ultimate's graphics though it really showed that the Super Nintendo was capable of. In fact, the graphics just look as good as Trilogy's graphics. I find that remarkable considering this game was on a 16 bit system and Trilogy was not. I also like the sound of this game. The sounds of this game carried over into Trilogy, which was very nice. Also the fighters have different stories. As I mentioned in the depth section it is fun to play as different fighters. I personally like to play as: Sub Zero, Reptile, Smoke, Cyrax, and Scorpion. I have heard another one of my favorites Rain is also in this game. But, if Rain is in this game I have not found a way to unlock him. Would I recommend this game? If you liked Mortal Kombat II and wished the third game had II's characters than yes I would recommend this game. In addition, I would recommend this game to anybody that is a fan of the Mortal Kombat series. But just beware that the controls may feel a bit sluggish. I got this game a year after it had been out because I had heard it was like Trilogy for the 16 bit systems. I did not have a Play Station yet so I bought this game. It was a good game. If you have Trilogy than your pretty much playing the same game basically. Here is another thing to beware of. Mortal Kombat has a lot of gore in so if that bothers you than you might want to play another fighting game. At the end of the day I give this game a rating of 8.60

ultimate mortal kombat 3, lets see were do we start with this game. this game its pretty much the same as mortal kombat three except they added quit a few more characters in this one. they have a few new surprises in this one. the fatalities are great in this game. awsome animalalities and friendships. what i forgot to add in my review for mk3 that they also have in this game is the brutalities wich a is a combo that turns into a fatality. this game is very fast paced. i like that fact that they have sub-zero and they also have the original sub-zero in this game. if you are a mortal kombat fan and know the story line you know that the first sub-zero was killed in the first game by scorpion. mk 2 the sub-zero is actually his younger brother. i have always have been a huge fan of the mk's and always kept up with the story line. the mk titles have always had a good story line. i hope every body that plays this game enjoys it as much as i do.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 VideogamemanX
Hello its me VGMX bringing you a Vizzed VideoGame Review today's review will be on Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for the Super Nintendo (Super Famnicom on Japan) and don't get me wrong its an awesome game considering of how it was made I mean you had awesome battles taking in various places and most importantly a fight to the death will blood and all that crud but other than that its a amazing fighting game and its still amazing to this day BUT! One group of people hate this game and that is ESRB but seriously its still an amazing game so right now I will state what I think about UMK3Graphics: 10Ok obviously this game's characters were made from ACM (Advanced Computer Modeling) which was the character modeling RareWare used on games such as DKC (Donkey Kong Country) and other RareWare Games and also the blood in 16-Bit is amazing! The Graphics are so amazing I really want to see this in other games againSound: 10The Music and Sound are so amazing even the Announcer's Voice is amazing even if its a 16-Bit Machine this proves that the Super Nintendo is so powerful which is awesome! The Music is so cool I wish that the Super Nintendo had some kind of Headphones Output like the Sega Genisis which strangely an Output like this only exists in the Sega Genisis that's what I can say the Sound in UMK3 is amazing!Addictiveness: 8 I am giving it an 8 because that's what I believe its fair for this game I mean many games like Street Fighter are so addicting that you can stop playing and what makes it more addicting is playing with another player this game like I said is amazing Story: 2 While I think it has no story I will tell the goal in this game you have to fight until you win the Mortal Kombat Tournament but on the downside you don't have unlimited continues so you better be an expert in this game if you want to beat itDepth: 9Now this game offers a lot of characters and if you play the One Player Mode it will probably take a long time to beat besides the characters are creative and cool but some are just so horrible but still this makes this game amazingDifficulty: 8 Now the One Player Mode is beyond hard is nearly impossible unless your a Pro Player while I am some Average Player now I have a lot to say about the Computer Players in UMK3... WERE THE PEOPLE WHO SET THEIR A.I. SET IT A CRAZY NUMBER? In other words they will be a pain in the butt to beat and I can only get to the third guy but I think you Pro Players out there will surely beat the gameOverall: 9.8In conclusion this game is amazing even if I had said it a million times in this review you can't deny this is one heck of a game overall I give it a giant 9.8 because that's what it deserves! I say this has to be the 2nd best game on the SNESThis has been a VGMX Vizzed VideoGame Review

Most Addictive game ever! CloudDragon
How can you describe with words an amazing game? You can't! With this game not only you see how advanced was technology back then but also you get to see the creativity that it came with! Definitely a MUST!
Flaws, probably the flaws that I see is about the graphics, of course back then they were awesome, however sometimes you loose the "feeling" about the character because of that (But that's just me).
The sound is something that really impacts on a game so specially on this one having midi voices definitely is a plus, that gives the game the necessary environment so you could get in to the story, the new moves added in to some of the characters (probably most of them) making a difference to the MK3 game and also the modifications to some of the characters on their costumes, adding an extra difficulty also is a plus because that makes you try harder to master all the movements and learn the fatalities from each character. I do feel a big difference on the system regarding the AI, they are faster and also harder to predict their movements.

Wow might I say this is the BEST FIGHTING GAME EVER!!!! You get to choose from a huge roster of fighter including the original 7 from the first game. The graphics are so great the blood when punch your opponent and it splatters on the ground. The fatalities are definitely graphic...."Excellent!" The sound of the hits and screams sounds they make when you hit them. This game is still addictive to this day. The story is great the reason why each fighter is in the tournament and the story after you beat the game with each fighter. I like they the fact that each fighter has their own unique story. It takes a while to beat the game but it's worth it though. The difficulty is extremely tough you have to be on your toes and show some guts against the other fighters. If not you'll be humiliated or suffer a horrific fatality. So in overall this game deserves a 10+ so play and have a great time my fellow gamers.
