Tetris (Tengen): The best one supersonic44
Are you seriously looking up a review seeing if Tetris is worth your time? Seriously? And you have the decency to call yourself a gamer....... my MOM knows Tetris is worth your time. And the last game she played was Portal back in 2008. But, if you somehow have been living under a rock for the past 20 years, I'll catch you up to speed on why Tetris and this version specifically is worth your time.
Graphics:
While Tetris isn't known especially for its graphics, I like this games graphics. For a NES puzzle game, its got a nice, family friendly feel. You begin to notice this really well when this is an Unlicensed NES game made by...... well...... we'll save that for later. 8/10
Sound:
The only bad thing I can say about this game sound-wise is that the Tetris theme type A is absent from this version of Tetris. That's it. Everything else you can't give it anything else but praise. Seriously. Bradinsky is a standout track especially. Seriously, stack your tetris tower close to the top so the song intensifies and try to play normally after that. Go, ahead try it. I dare you. While the theme type A would've been a nice inclusion, the song choice you get here is absolutely great. 8/10.
Addictiveness/Gameplay:
Tetris is the master of all puzzle games. Why, you ask? Because it follows the marks of a great puzzle game. Scratch that, it MADE the puzzle game. How did it do this? Simple. It's a simple concept that's extremely easy to play, but extremely hard to master. You take shapes made up of 4 blocks, and use them to make full straight lines. You have 1 button to rotate the block clockwise, one to rotate it counter clockwise, and the D-pad to move the block. Easy stuff. Or is it? Its simple premise may make it a bit off putting, but the difficulty can be conquered with some quick and easy tips. So, I present to you 3 of the most important things to remember when playing tetris:
Tetris Tip 1:
It's better to try to place pieces horizontally, then to create columns. Keep the wall as low as possible.
Tetris Tip 2:
Watch the preview window. When you know, where to put the next block, the game is getting easier.
Tetris Tip 3:
When you have to leave a hole in Tetris somewhere as an "overhang" you can then slide the next piece under it. Just press and hold left or right control before that hole and the piece will slide into the spot.
These tips will make you a pro tetris master in no type. 10/10
Interesting thing about this game:
This game was made by Tengen, a subsidiary of Atari, a company that was a rival of Nintendo. Because of the rivalry, the game was only on shelves for 1 month.
OVERALL:
This is, simply put, the best version of Tetris. Period. Even better then the version on Game boy. Easily. Now that you know about Tetris and the best version, please go and play it. 9/10

Tetris (Tengen) Review aquabludolphin18
Tetris is a great game. The graphics are great, the sound effects and music tracks are nice, it's addictive, and the difficulty goes up every level.
First, let's start with the graphics. I'm very impressed that a game made in the 1980's would have such great graphics. In fact, it has better graphics than any other NES game I've ever played! The sound effects and music tracks are so nice to listen while playing the game! It fits with the game perfectly. Like any other Tetris game, it's very addicting. When you start, it'll become very hard to stop playing and thinking about Tetris. The game does have many options. First of all, you can play with a friend in two-player mode. Nintendo's version of Tetris didn't have that option! Secondly, you can play against the CPU. You can also select different music tracks to be played while you play Tetris. There are more music options than Nintendo's version. You advance one level every time you wipe out 30 lines. There is another thing that happens once you clear 30 lines. The game will pause to count your points that you earned. During this time, little Russian dancers will come out and entertain you. Once that process is done, you advance to the next level. The difficulty changes every level. The blocks will start to fall faster and faster and faster and faster and faster and faster and faster until you mess up and get a game over. Overall, it's an awesome game. 9.5/10

A rare good unlicensed game... NovemberJoy
Tengen Tetris. This game is somewhat infamous for being a great unlicensed game, and it's better than Nintendo's licensed version.
But, since most people already know about Tetris, I'm going to talk about something that no other console version has...*drumroll*
Multiplayer! Yeah, two people playing at the same time. You can play cooperative or competitive, and it's fun. You can even play with a computer!
...But, alas, the computer can occasionally be a nuisance. As in, they'll get in your way, make insane decisions on where to put their pieces, and other kinds of stupidity. But, the computer is still somewhat helpful, as they have lightning-fast reflexes, like a computer normally does. And, well, I'll just give short summaries of everything else.
Graphics:They do their job perfectly. While beautiful graphics do up a game's rating, in this game, the graphics are as good as they could really be without having the play view obstructed in some way by a background. There's just no problems in their design, so they don't interfere with gameplay.
Music:Classic Russian songs. Most of the music in this game is famous, mainly because it's very pleasant to listen to, and they're featured in the greatest puzzle game of all time. And, no, for those fooled by the IG's video, there is no Panama soundtrack, though it might be cool if there was.
Addictiveness:Maybe I should stop playing, I've been playing for about an hour...Whoa! Two hours already? The instant you start playing, you are addicted. And there's no way you can stop your addiction, besides frustration and a healthy serving of great games that aren't puzzle games. The only reason I'm not addicted to this is because I
suck.Story:There isn't one.Come on, does Tetris really need a story? When they tried making a story for other Tetris games, they failed miserably.
Depth: Deeper than the Atlantic Ocean, which is great for a puzzle game with such simple mechanics. As it turns out, this game actually has a MASSIVE amount of strategy. Where should I place this block? No, not there, that'd obstruct the next piece. I'll put it here, so it won't obstruct any other type of piece. Oh, now I need to place this one. Not there, that'd obstruct a cube piece. (You get the picture.)
Difficulty: Starts off easy, but gets much, much harder. As the game starts off slow, the game seems somewhat easy. But, every 20 lines, the points you earned from clearing lines are tallied up, and Russian dancers come out to entertain you. After that, the game gets ever so slightly faster. It may be really, really slow at level 0, but at level 9, you'll be Russian to keep up. (Sorry, I have a pun quota to meet. :D)
Pros:
Basically everything
Cons:
Stupid AI in multiplayer mode
Final Rating:To take a phrase from the Irate Gamer, game sent from heaven.
The Bottom Line:If you want to play the multiplayer as it's intended, then you need an NES, two controllers, and this game. Either that, or you'll need to remap the controls to play on a keyboard. Either way, this game would be worth playing, and worth purchasing. The people at Tengen(an alias for Atari) really outdid themselves here, because this is the best port of Tetris you'll see on any system, ever.
Final Comment:If Heaven was a personalization of what a person would enjoy most, there would be at least one person who would have a room with this game and a perfectly working NES that never misreads games and controllers that never break, as well as a friend to play with, as his/her Heaven.

There have been better Tetris games... EsunaBlade89
As the title of this review suggests, you may feel like I don't like this version of Tetris just because everyone loves it. And, in my own naive self, I used to join the bandwagon that stated that this was the ultimate Tetris game. That was until I actually sat down and played for a while thanks to this website.
Now, this game IS the game we all know and love, however, in my opinion, that is all the game has going for it. From what I can tell, Tengen made a unlicensed Tetris game, which was taken off of store shelves, and is now a fan favorite to many alike. I don't see why this game has the fans that it does, and I will explain why. (Note this is my opinion, and most of the issues are resolved in other versions of Tetris, therefore the game gets is 8.9 score.)
This Tetris game is a lot like it's little brother on the Game Boy, with it's very "groovy" music, and game play. However, the music seems a little more water downed. There are more songs to choose from, but they lack the pump that the Game Boy soundtrack had to offer. They even have a song that is very inspired by the "Theme A" song from the portable version, but it just makes you wish it WAS Theme A. The blocks are well shaded and are colorful, but they aren't divided up into little squares like it's little brother. Therefore, you will be confused as to whether or not a block will fit into a designated space.
As stated previous, these errors are only gripes that I personally have, but they take away some of the experience I wish it would have had.

Tetris Review Marcmoney
Overall - 7
This tetris game is not my favorite. I thought it would be, but not the way you get when you get a game over, but it still is tetris and I give it a 7 for that. :)
Graphics - 8
The graphics are okay. It is from the old times and that is what it is made as.
Sound - 7
The sound is kind of annoying. I understand how there is a "Silence" in the music section.
Addictiveness - 4
I would probably not play this kind of tetris. There are so many of them, but I would want to choose one that would interest me. :P
Story - N/A
There is no story in any tetris game.
Depth - 5
The game is quite the same as other tetris games, but this one has bonus points whenever you level up.
Difficulty - 6
The problem with the game is that getting a game over can be kind of easy. If you check out my screenshot in the competition, you'll see a big seeing of getting an easy game over. I can just keep on going, but having too many blocks at it's limit makes it a game over.
Wrap Things Up...
The game is a fun tetris game. It has same colored blocks and changes color in every level. Pretty cool thing to do that, but I would recommend trying this game out if you are a tetris fan. :)
